  • How to change the shock spring on your dirt bike! This is a step by step process of how to swap out your dirt bike shock spring. I needed to swap the shock spring on my 07 KX250 and buff off the old paint that was faded from the shock body. While you are at it, if your shock body is in rough shape, grab a buffing pad, and get to it! What do you think of the buffed out shock body? I was careful to buff by the threads as I didn't want to grind them down. I may revisit them in the future to see if I can clean up a little better, but good thing when the shock is on the bike, you won't even notice the threads are a different color. Ride on!

    Does compressing the spring actually bring the eyes where the bolts go closer together?

      That’s awesome dude! Unfortunately my video for how to rebuild a rear shock isn’t edited yet or you could watch it. Do you have a manual to help you out?

    Would there be any reason I can’t get my adjuster nuts over the collar at the bottom of the shock? I removed the outside collar and the O-ring.. still can’t seem to slide it over

    My spring is aftermarket and has no markings on it at all, i need a much stiffer one, how can i tell which one to get when i have no starting point? Also is the size pretty universal? Or do i need one specific for my 2007 husqvarna smr450? Ahhh i just wanna buy a dang spring on ebay already n do this! Lol

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  Před 3 lety

      Hey mate! Yeah it sucks that the springs don't have markings on them to let you know what spring rate they are. Most stock 450s are set up for about a 170 pound rider. If you are heavier than that, than you will for sure need a stiffer spring. Also you can tell by setting your free sag and race sag of the rear end. RaceTech has a great spring rate calculator that you can try out!

    Would of helped if ya held the spanner wrench in the direction that ya needed to go.
    But then, that would have defeated the purpose of going back in reverse... 😝🤪😜
