    So if it jumps time it doesn’t mean engine is bad?
    Can you just replace timing chain put it back in time you should be good?
    I have 5.4L engine with jumped timing

    Okay so I replaced my water pump rebuilt the motor and when we were putting the belt on the power steering I think I made it jump a couple of teeth on the Chain how can I fix this without taking the motor back apart

    Mine snapped off. Been moving it in my apt lot. Drove a block to the gas station. On my way back it snapped. Got it home though. Now it sits until i can afford oarts and labor

    I have a super rough idle on my 13 SHO but besides that everything is fine tho. It doesn’t sound like shit when I rev it up and drives pretty normal. Getting codes p0018 p0021 p0016 and p052A and C 😬

    I have 2 ford explores 2010 I replace sprokets tensioner solenoids I still have p0016 and I got marks on chains to the marks on gears I check the crank sproket is fine but how they jum timming I dind used any special tools do I need them can you help me

    By the way those chains you are showing are the phaser chains and they have never failed. The phaser on very rare occasions have failed. You will have to remove the TIMING cover to see the timing chain which is located on the front of the engine against the passenger side strut tower. The timing chain on the 1st gen edge is a thinner chain and the water pump is a single sprocket The undated 2011 TiVCT Duratec has a much heavier wider chain with a double sprocket water pump shaft.

      and? i own a 2011 with 150k. Its my wife's car. its a great engine, with a flaw done on purpose or there would be a lot of 300k engines. Its funny if anyone says anything bad about the edge you try to refute it.

      Can you just swap a mustang 3.7 into a ford explorer and be back to an external mounted water pump ?

      Hey, I have a 2008 Taurus X with the 3.5L. It runs and drives fine most of the time but recently sitting at a stop in gear there was this light but noticeable surge or "lope" to the idle. Doesn't do it all the time. Starts fine every time. the engine light isn't always on. Has a P0011 code active and a P0016 code stored. What do you think?

    No proof of concept in this failure. Check Compression? How about the plugs, coils and a failed PCM which are very common failures. This video does not answer anything as far as confirming your diagnosis. A failed PCM would do the same thing. 2007 and 2008 Edge are very prone to PCM, coil and plug failure. The Duratec 3.5 is a solid engine and if it does jump timing then the main failure would be the water pump shaft failure and water in the oil. You also do not show any codes as the dash lights are not going to always show but the DTC codes will. Not checking the engine for miss fires and diagnosing the PCM are easy and cheap repairs.

      @@MACTFordEdge Since you say this is a interference engine, if the main timing chain breaks, would this damage the valves and piston? Working on one with the water pump problem for the 2nd time and the chain broke this time.

      @hummerguy Even though the chain broke, I attempted the repair anyway. Checked compression first and it was fine. The repair was successfully completed and it ran fine.

      @@dhood2800 That's awesome, I'm currently on the same job, the timing chain broke, there was no loud noise when it happened, the car just died, it dumped the coolant in the oil and broke the timing chain, the mechanical shop said there was a loud noise in the timing chain and that the engine needs to be replaced so we took the car back and now I'm checking it out, I got the first head off and so far I see where the chain snapped

      I may not be the smartest man in the world but at 5:06 you are removing a cover on a inline 4. I would also bet that the 3.5 litre has a bad water pump cause the timing concerns.
