    Love "thriller, filler, spiller". It's so descriptive and memorable. Excellent video.

  • @foggygardeninganddesign9077

    I tend to use rosettes style succulents in arrangements in containers. I tend to use lots of greens and yellow greens, analogous color schemes. I love agaves, but seldom use them.

    Hopefully I get to this point over time! I took three succulents I liked and just put them in a terracotta pot. It’s my first succulent arrangement in good rock gritty soil mix. I’m excited and nervous to see how it goes and learn from it all!

    @Peleski Před rokem

    Some great tips. I prefer split complementary colour schemes, where you use the two analogous colours instead of the one opposite colour (eg green + red-orange + red-purple). It's not as garish as pure complementaries, and it gives three colours to work with.

    I am always learning from your videos. Most of my succulents are planted in arrangements. I tend to use odd numbers 3,5 etc and if possible different textures. I like the thriller, filler, spiller method. I usually make small arrangements with just 3 or 5 plants as gifts. So far I’ve gotten positive responses.

    When arranging a succulent do not have to take into account their sleeping period and the conditions for their growth, such as sun, water, etc. Which succulents can be grown together

Please cover how to use these tips PLUS take into acct. their watering/light needs at the same time. Seems like a puzzle or a riddle and the answers are still lost to me overall. But I'm learning, thanks to you and these videos. Thanks for taking the time to help beginners like me learn how to help our plants thrive instead of just survive us.

    Thrillers, fillers and spillers add definite drama to an arrangement. I'm limited to the number of succulent varieties I can purchase locally, but try my best to put complementary colours and contrasting shapes together. I love using coloured glass containers on my window ledge and attempt to have an appropriate number of plants depending on pot size.

    What about the size/spacing? How much room should be left for plants to grow? Or should they be spaced close together without worrying about longer-term growth?

    • @Succulentsandsunshine
      @Succulentsandsunshine  Před 4 lety +1

      You can plant them super close together. It will cause them to grow more slowly. But giving them an inch or two between the plants will allow them to grow larger faster. Depends on how you want it to look now 😊

    I am very new to succulents, and did an arrangement with different leaf shapes and complimentary colours and an odd number of plants. I know what they all are but one, and you showed it in this video. What is the first green one with red tips? The one with narrow leaves? It’s my centre piece, despite being short, as mine all are, not much variety at stores where I am.

    • @Succulentsandsunshine
      @Succulentsandsunshine  Před 5 lety

      In the all green arrangement I show first, the plants are:
      Senecio barbertonicus
      Sedum 'Burrito'
      Haworthia retusa
      Crassula rupestris
      If that's not the right arrangement let me know 😊

      @@Succulentsandsunshine Thanks so much for replying, and sorry for not being clear! It is the first plant shown in the filler category, shown at 2:45 in the video (likely an echevaria as all the other mixed succulents I got at the same place/time are echevaria. Your video's have really helped me out a lot, I'm in Canada and don't have a nursery like you do that I can go to for help. So I need to rely on video's like these, as my plants are from a hardware store and I impulse bought them to rescue them from lack of light and over watering, and they were just labeled mixed succulents. But, I learned all about one, Perle Von Nurnburg from your recent video (and bought a full spectrum grow light in preparation for winter as a result!) And the black prince, and frills are so distinctive they were easy to find. But green with red tips brought up so many options and none were right. I'd about given up until I watched this video, while binge watching your channel :)

      There are some beautiful red succulents, especially Sempervivums:
      mountaincrestgardens.com/sempervivum-pacific-red-tide/?aff=2
      Sedum nussbaumerianum "Coppertone" would add some nice yellow.
      www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-coppertone
      Aeonium arboreum ‘Zwartkopf’ could add a dark color: succulentsbox.com/products/black-rose-aeonium-arboreum-zwartkop-black-beauty-2-or-4?variant=45851369225/?aff=3
      as well as Echeveria 'Black Knight'" succulentsbox.com/products/echeveria-black-prince-black-hens-and-chicks-2-inch-pot?variant=160312360969/?aff=3
      You could also incorporate the black and yellow through a pot or top dressing choice.
