People seem to forget and meme the hell out of tasting menus for their size but seem to forget most of them have multiple courses and by the time youre done eating 8 to 15 different dishes it adds up
I've seen tasting menus with 30+ elements, which is a pretty decent and filling meal
I had a menu with 5-10 dishes (I forgot the exact number) and it tasted great but wasn't a lot of food
Yeah, you end up with more than one little serving but overall if you're eating to be satisfied or full then tasting menus are not the ideal thing.
it is fun to meme them tho
Thatâs the real reason why not because of anything else. 20+ course meals obviously canât be full sized.
Damn, that's smart. When you say mindblown'it reminds me of Ratatouille when Remy combines different flavours in his mouth and gets mindblown by the flavours. It doesn't really make sense cause it's not really related to what you were saying but the expression of Remy does.
strawberry and cheese dont work together though

I was thinking of this too.
diminishing marginal benefit
Tasting menus sound like it'd suck once it's over. You enjoyed the experience, the wonderful flavor, the service; but I'd probably feel so down after all that knowing it's done and over, and I can't do it again 'cause I'd have no more cash.
haha you definitely should not empty your bank for a tasting menu.
it's definitely about the experience/food/performance/service.
That's not how you make fried rice.
why u made
that's literally fried rice

@@ajynapy5607 lmao
well, technically
A good 6-8 course tasting menu with a properly curated wine flight is one of the best culinary experiences you can have.
I bet that's expensive
@@hellosweetheart3350 depends where it is. Anywhere half decent will cost you around ÂŁ160-200 per person. Worth it though.
I hate mixing alcohol with food. Destroys the experience and your senses become numb.
@@kerolokerokerolo I find the wine significantly increases the experience.

LAW OF DIMINISHING MARGINAL UTILITY
I'm literally the worst to cook for, I could tell you at the start of a meal how great it is and leave a quarter of it because I'm bored of the taste. This idea is spot on for me, tapas too.
I love your channel bro and I dont say that very often. Good voice, good humor, good narration, good content. Keep it up.
these fried rice squares are really good with spicy tuna on them
I get the concept but I've defanatly had one or two meals in my life that i gobbled up every bite it was so delicious and could get enough especially stews or curry or some baked goods
The meal he cooked brings a whole new meaning for "fried rice"
Everyday I wonder how people even needed these questions answered
And then they price every 2 bite dish like a full sized one. Yeah nah, I'm good.
for the best experience youâll ever have in your life? iâd say itâs worth it to pay a couple hundred bucks for a tasting menu
@@chashubokchoy8999 I'd rather buy a full course meal for 90 bucks than 2-3 of those tasters
@@hughjass8502 no ones selling you 2-3 tasters for 90 bucks. more like 17-23.
@@chashubokchoy8999 oh damn that actually seems pretty good, my bad

imagine getting fatigued by the taste of foods.
This very common actually, going through it now. Chefs that make great food usually cook very simply at home because theyâre burnt out
Do you never get bored of flavours?
I have gone to a restaurant like this a few times now, you can eat as many little things as you want, ordering 3 at a time. Things like sushi but even fries, the food is really good amd you get to eat a bunch stuff, lots of different things. Some of the best food i've ever had.
Tasting menu are small because it to test it for events. .. like a wedding
I went somewhere like this called Texas De Brazil and it was perfect
Oh wow. So itâs called a tasting menu because it just gives you a taste of the dishes. Youâre a fucking genius, man thank you so much.
I love tastings menus and tapas. Itâs just about the perfect amount for me đ. My stomach just canât handle these portions sometimes.
Pallet fatigue, never heard of it but it sounds logical. Thanks i was always disappointed after eating at a posh restaurant but now i will appreciate it more.
That.. actually makes sense. Holy shit.
Ur vids r just making me to pursue to become a chef since cooking is one of my passionsđbut it is just so hard to go for it coz of the experience that others had...and it became harder coz i only have a few weeks left to choose either being a chef or an architectđ
Follow what youâre most passionate about that you wouldnât mind doing for the rest of your life
@@Namnamnam93 thnxxx for the advice...i really appreciate it and ill always keep this in mindđ
I started studying architecture and can I tell you itâs so much fun! But only if youâre passionate about art, drawing and modeling (and constantly being critised lol) but I guess it also depends on the school you choose (some are super artsy and some more science based). Being a chef sounds amazing too and I feel like both career paths have in common that youâre constantly doing something with your hands (at least during the years of the actual education). And honestly all of these CZcams shorts make cooking look sooo much fun! Why am I writing all of this? No idea but maybe it helps you đ but I can definitely tell you that in architecture school the ones that have the most passion, creativity and patience for what they are doing have it the easiest. Well, that probably applies to all professions. I hope you make the right choice for you but also keep in mind that weâre all constantly trying to figure out who we are and what we actually want to do in life! :)
@@clk6334 thnxxx for sharing ur experience
If you're family is prone to arthritis, go for being a chef. If your family has a history of back, hip, knee, ankle, or foot problems, go for architecture. Standing in a kitchen for hours on end can kill the lower half of your body.
Staring at a computer, or drafting table for hours, with either a mouse, or pencil in your hand, is bad news for arthritis, and eyesight. Just something to consider.
Also, only celebrity chefs make more money than architects.
It's also because tasting menus are designed to give you just a couple bites of each thing so that you don't get full on just one thing. It allows you to taste more things. Think of it like wine tasting. They don't give you a full glass of each kind, just a touch to get the taste of it
If something is good I can have 100 bites and itâs still awesomeâŠso I donât get how three bites in someone can go âmehâ.
If something is good for 100 bites that means you're eating the blandest shit possible
@@bladewolf39 think about it. For something to be so good that it never gets old, it has to be complex yet not overbearing. Stimulating but not overwhelming. The best things have balance and incorporate a variety of different elements. Take some very popular "good" foods for example; pizza, ramen, a good steak. These are all things I can eat over and over again and never get tired of. This does not mean that it's *bland* . It's just good. I think that these people know that what they're serving can be a bit too much, over the top if you will and that's why you wouldn't want to eat a lot of it. I'm not saying it's not good or even delicious, but truly good food doesn't get old after 3 bites. 100 bites really isn't even that much.
you're a G dude thx for the content
very interesting fact! thanks for sharing

What he means is that the first bite is amazing, but the tenth, while it would taste just as good, doesn't blow your mind.

THE REAL FRIED RICE
Dishwasher: fml đ€Šââïž
I never have pallete fatigue I eat the same thing everday
It's an experience you have like once per year or few years. People are talking like you go to these restaurants for a Sunday dinner.
~$100 for 10-15 of the best dishes you'll ever eat. It's just that not all people treat food this way. Some people eat to live and some people live to eat.
Oknyeah damn thnks that legit helps
I think a good comparison would be tasting menus are like eating omakase at a sushi restaurant. You pay for a set price and the chef sets the menu, usually 10-15 dishes, sometimes it includes alcohol like a sake or a wine pairing, the food is often very rich in flavor and seasoned very heavily, and the menu often changes per day or week. Yeah it's not a giant $3 burrito at your local taqueria, but it's more like an experience than just sustenance. It's not for everyone and that's understandable, but I liken it more to going on vacation to some luxury destination than going to visit a local beach or park or your friends in another state or province.
That's why there's palate cleansers
a perfect example for a palate cleanser is ginger with sushiđ You eat it in between each sushi piece so you can enjoy every single piece equallyđ
Try search ranginang. That's, i think, a must try.
