- Super Mario Galaxy is one of my favorite game of all time. I beat it at least once a year and this year, I decided to try to beat it without collecting a single coin! Did I do it? Let's find out!

I wish they continued with the Super Mario Galaxy series. It was the best Mario games I've played, that and Super Mario Odyssey!

I like it it but is super Mario sun shine also up in the list
Galaxy is definitely one of my favourites, but odyssey didn't really interest me. There's almost no difficulty, the only time I ever had trouble with the game was a speed challenge on dark side, and I am by no means an expert. The Cappy mechanic is fun at first, but itgets kind of boring after a while. Most of the levels are new super Mario bros. with a slight twist. Grassy level... But with dinosaurs! Desert level... But with ice! Beach level... And nothing special. Freezing level... But with a racetrack! Jungle level... But it's purple! Cloudy level... But it's tiny! Also, most of the stuff in the game has already been done before in previous Mario games. It doesn't feel like I'm discovering a new world, it feels like I'm just finding more of the same. Also, colectathons have never really been my thing. Mario Galaxy 2's green stars were easily my least favourite part of the game, so a whole game consisting of mainly more green stars? Not interested.

It actually is possible to avoid the coin in the Bubble Breeze galaxy with a pretty cool glitch that let's you skip the whole level.
Yeah, backflip when you arrive the second island and you will be over the invisible wall
On my first time through that level i did that by accident without even knowing the glitch, and i was surprised
he just back flipped the wrong way

Yeah if u backflip on top of the rocks towards the screen u can land on top of them and the long jump to where the star is.

Bubble breeze galaxy is possible to do without collecting coins. There's a trick u can use to skip the 2nd half of the level

Btw BBQ, you can land on the track at 7:55 by going towards the coins with speed and jumping forward. Also, that launch star in the battle rock galaxy, you can activate it coin less by going in first person and looking at the launch star to spawn it. That's two more stars to the collection.

"You can skip these coins by walking underneath..." or around, or above, or even skip them entirely with a skip to the launch star that requires you to jump at a certain edge!

If your having trouble just aim for the coin spots
The harder version in Dreadnaught Galaxy is literally the only star out of all 120 that I haven't been able to obtain. My save file is stuck in a purgatory 119 stars because of it.
Edit: I actually beat it now, and then got all 120 stars again as Luigi. Doing the trash bomb star again was… disappointingly easy. It only took two or three tries. I was just using the wrong strategy for nearly half of my lifetime I guess (I'm 18).
My strategy:
Far left bomb to top left corner coin spot, middle left bomb to the bottom left corner coin spot, middle right bomb _in between_ the two coin spots in the middle, far right bomb on top right coin spot, then closest bomb that has respawned on the bottom right coin spot. Do it correctly and the last bomb will explode with less than one second left.

As for motion control, I can't think of many example where I like it. DKCR motion controls were cool, probably because of how simple it is. In fact, I like it so much that I use it for DKCTF.

It's about time someone did this. On one channel this guy tried to not touch any star bits, and I asked him if he would do a no coin challenge, and some people commented saying it would be boring and too easy. Well look who's wrong now. That channel could've done it first before you, but he didn't listen.
Edit: Plus I also told him it would be challenging considering that coins are a form of health, but people still commented that it would be too easy and boring

I have a challenge for you if you'd like to attempt it. Can you beat Mario VS Rabbids without using the battle HQ? The only time you may open the menu is in the tutorial, where it is required to progress. After that, you must complete the rest of the game without swapping your team members, buying stronger weapons, or upgrading your team. I know for sure that you can make it at least halfway through the game. On the chapter 2 boss, Princess Peach automatically gets selected into your team. Some of her upgrades are already in use, and her default weapon is twice as strong as the default weapons of your original team. Peach is also a healer, which will be very useful in the remainder of the run. I would recommend using extra health often, as I am almost sure that some levels require it (2nd battle in chapter 2-8, for one). I would like to see you attempt this challenge, but if you do not, I understand. If anyone else wants to attempt it, let me know how far you get. Also, watch out for chapter 2-8. Trust me, it's difficult to fight an army of smashers and supporters.
In bubblebreeze galaxy, when you get to the second part, long jump to the wall behind you. You'll be on an invisible wall, carefully walk towards the star and longjump to it. You skip the entire second part

I’m normally not a “beat a Mario game without collecting a coin” guy, but here are some tips for the first star in Ghostly Galaxy. Use the rainbow star to cheese the winding bridge and the room with the first key. And avoid the coins in the doorway of the Boo Mario section by floating above them.

In bubble breeze galaxy, there is a glitch at the start. You back flip and spinjump. Hold the numchucks right, and there is an invisible wall where you can just walk across to the star
In the second star of freezeflame galaxy, i was able to skip the wall jumps by going to the blue platform from where the gravity changes and go the spinning wheel platform and do a long jump to the right and you should end up at the last section of the level ( you need to get the health mushroom first to make the jump)
I can’t wait to see you do Galaxy 2! It’s got an even bigger focus on coins! Those hungry Lumas that lead to secret stars in that game have bad taste.

NicoBBQ, at 9:00 it’s possible to skip those coins by grabbing the star power and then launching. For some reason it will allow you to immediately launch, bypassing those coins

For getting pass the three coins in Battlerock Galaxy, be Rainbow Mario, which increase your movement speed and lets you get in the launch star before hitting the coins.
