I am trying to do the rebuild and assembly videos too but everything is still at the powdercoater! Been there since October since they can't get the chemicals to do the paint stripping due to this shitty economy!
BTW.. WE thank you and appreciate you for doing these videos... and enjoy them very much and i do learn from them also, i know the camera work is time consuming...Thanks for what and all you do man..... i hope you keep doing this for Years to come.....Wooooooo... 🤘🤙
Looks are definitely deceiving! It didn't look this clean when I bought it and the motor is locked up and the crank bearings are fried. It's only this clean because I cleaned it. The other one (2005 YFZ450 bought as a pair) had the chain slammed into the drive sprocket, the crankcase is broken, and the shift shaft is bent.
I do love these yfz450s. My last project was one, current project is a yz426f. Maybe during winter I'll rip one of my 12 machines down to the frame and make it new. You give me the itch to rip shit apart.
You should do a Trx 450r (04-05 model) next. What do you do with organizing bolts and parts you take off? I’m always looking for creative ideas when I tear down projects.
I put them in used (and cleaned) yogurt, vegetable tray, tv dinner, etc. containers and label everything. Then I print out the diagrams from - www.motosport.com/oem-parts/yamaha/2006/yfz450 ... then I highlight all the parts I have in light color and all the parts I have in darker color (so I can go back and highlight over the parts when I get them). Then I clean, rebuild, paint, etc. all the used parts. Then I assemble.
Wow. I just finished your 400EX build and to my surprise. You're currently doing a YFZ 450. I'm doing one myself an 06' as well. Earlier this last summer completed a 01 bug eye 400EX. I really wanted to do a channel such as yours, but it's like starting another career and not sure I want that stress. Sure glad you're doing though. Nice work on all your builds Man. Very Inspiring.
I agree! And the 2006 is much better in every way. The engine displacement is better, the swingarm is current, and a lot more stuff was updated in 2006 from the 2005 model
Yes, but that's not a "hand drill", it's an "impact driver". An "impact driver" has more torque than a "power drill", needed to remove nuts and bolts. You should also add a "torque wrench" so you don't snap bolts off or keep them too loose. And you will probably need screw drivers, wrenches, pliers, and a hammer to start with. Oh yeah, and the YFZ450 (and the TRX450) are both metric. So you want to get metric sets of tools ... and make sure you at least have the 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm.
Man this a perfect vid for me. I’m newbie and looking to get yfz450 was looking at trx as well but went with yfz450..and I been looking at 06 model n boom you have this vid. Any tips or suggestions you think can help. I’m not racing just want to ride with friends and keep up. Lol
The 2006 needs to be full of oil all the time since it's missing the "oil squirter" that was introduced in 2007 to fix the issue. Other that that just keep it clean, change the oil frequently, and keep everything greased up and adjusted properly and it will last forever.
I addressed the tank and the carb in the last 200x video. The carb was rebuilt and the tank was flushed, painted, and installed ... czcams.com/video/-4cQzz_Zitk/video.html
About time I see some older yfz on CZcams

I thank you very much for the support! I will keep building as long as I can afford it!
Heck yeah! One of the most fun overall quads in my opinion.
I can't wait to rip it!
Man I love these videos they make my day
Thank you! I appreciate that!
That is a clean 450 looks like it was well taken care of.

Nothing like a full rebuild when it's completed!
You should do a Honda TRX 450R build, I’ve got 2 just finished collecting parts from the frame to every engine part possible.
Definitely on the future list! I look everyday for "project" machines to buy and as soon as one comes up for sale, I will buy it!

Thank you! I wish the world was different right now, so I could get this 2006 YFZ450 built faster, but here we are ...
@@11GalleryATV the supply chain issues are definitely an rough. All you can do is keep moving forward. 🙌🏼

Tool wise what’s needed a nice ratchet set n hand drill

Do a LT400 build next
You are the best on here if you are ever in ohio I would love to meet up and get lunch and go ride together man
That would be cool ... I lived in Ohio for a couple of years in the 90's. I lived in Covington, OH - small town just north of Dayton, OH.
Keep it up 👍.
Hells yeah! Thank you!
