- I've gone on another deep dive into mage class progression in the world of Orna. Covering everything in a tier by tier format from level 1 to level 250, this is the second part of the ultimate guide to embark on the path of the mage in Orna. All item slots are covered as well as adornments!

In Part 2 we concentrate on itemisation. Gear plays a huge part in your source of power in Orna, so we'll focus in on the optimal equipment you'll be chasing at each tier. Those videos are really nice and I think they still offer some kind of help, but I also think that because of all the updates and buffs etc it would be time for a redo of this beginner guide series :)

Looking for friends to level with. Loving the game and your descriptions have helped a lot. Went from winning 1 out of 5 pvp matches to winning 3 out of 5 in just 2 days.

Ayyy nice drop! As a mage we don't need hardened steel for upgrading Venin in tier 9 so the horseman gear is actually a great option if you can get some!

Thx for the guide. Btw I have a mid ornate hydra staff and I was wondering if I should invest in it or continue hoping for an ornate ashen staff.
Now the Balor crown is much better than before: it used to give 100 in def and resistance, now it gives 200 in each!
yeah my balor crown is very comparable to my arisen witches hat (took forever to drop). Witches hat is still better due to Dex but drop rate/encounter wise Balor King is much more accessible in boss dungeons, Also has a great 10 sockets.

I have a question for you: i have dropped two Ornate Ithra's staves (199% each)... would you recommend trying Sequencer (i'm level 203) or better stick up with maji?
I know i've been quite lucky, but i also dropped one Ornate Demeter's Staff (200%)... but i guess Ithra's are better

Ciao man thanks for commenting, I hope the guides have helped! Wow it seems like you've hit the jackpot with those staffs bravo! I personally prefer the Ithra for huge dexterity yes. OK so in regards to your question about sequencer... Man in pvp it should be amazing, focus on attacking and you will be a monster. The thing with sequencer is no shield so if you are raiding polly you will not be able to go as far as with maji, it's a weak point for sure.
I would say that if you're happy to try sequencer for the orns, level up your staffs and try it man. I love it for pvp mainly. Getting enough ortanite for 2 staffs might take a while though!
Crazy to see how much has changed since nov 2020, about to head into 225 as a heretic, maybe a week off or so if I really put my mind to it, would you still recommend what you have for t10 item goals? With the sequencer buff recently, it has completely changed how I play omni and I've been loving it, really helped give me something more to do other than just maji.
Hey bud great to see your progression! Slow and steady. Stoked you've been playing Sequencer I've had so much fun with it, I know a few other people who have switched to it and having loads of fun with it as well!
For t10 item goals yes they're generally still all relevant, especially weapons. One thing I would now add is polly set with azure pinions for max magic stat, goes amazing with sequencer.
I just got to tier 7 and got the Staff of Typhon f4rom my Citadel offering :)

is the def/res of fay banshee boots better than the ward from incarnate boots? I know it depends somewhat on build/strategy/gameplay, but other than maybe PvP, I can't see giving up the ward for def/res.
For most cases the ward is more practical and the preferred option you are 100% correct. High stat builds can be good later with high ascension levels but arguable whether they even feat the simple ward builds at all.
Hey Shabbash. I'd like to know what do you think about res on mages? I've researched some stuff and every guide seems to strengthen the def and not give love to res. But some raid mobs like balor elite and titan do a lot of mag attack. So if I put my full defense equipment shown in this video I'll get my butt kicked by the attacks.
Yeah ideally you have options for each raid boss. In fact fire res is most important for Balor Elite it gives you 50% reduction straight away to one of his main spells. Ideally you want to build up a def set and res set

I don't know if you're gonna see this comment, but is the Balor Crown worth using nowadays? I have a 199% Balor Crown, and nowadays, its 200 def and res base, instead of 100 like it was in the video. While I will definitely still be farming Apollyon, do you think that I should actively farm for other headpieces or can I just stick with the Crown. Thanks!
Hello Bobby yes Balor Crown got buffed fairly recently and yes it is 100% worth using especially a 199% wow awesome drop! 😍👍👍👍

Damn im sad now. After watching your vidoes now im at loss. I was mage, but i love summoners in all games. Decided to go pet class after necro - but now im stuck. I also love to try stupidly high damage combos. And after watching your guides... now i want both... :( and once again i dont know which one to choose. Im lvl 185 archdruid, im below in orns and probably will be for quite some time. :F
Do you have any guide/tips on what spells to use at what tier and so on? Like some spell decks for world, gauntlet, raids and pvp?

I'm kinda curious about the dual wielding skills, there's no description for some of them in game, so idk if they do anything extra besides damage or which stat they scale on.. talking about Twin attack, twin blast, requiem, etc.
Ah so those dual wield off hand skills are basically a mana free attack button, or for attack builds actually worse than the attack button. Twin blast and requiem are good for mages though.
@@Shabbash Oh ok, thanks. That's kinda what I was thinking but wasn't sure. I tried to experiment a bit, usually the twin blast does a bit less damage than my cheap 5 mana Bolt spell that I use for mob farming and such.
Guess I'm better off keeping the bone shield or a scroll for now then in offhand. I initially thought having two staffs would at least increase my MAG stat & damage, but I guess they don't stack.
@@EileenTheCr0w dual wielding weapons gives a stat penalty actually, each weapon will drop to 65% stats. So if you have two weapons close in stats you will get an overall increase to offensive stats when dual wielding
Is there a downside of using 2 staves?
I am having a hard time justifying any off-hand items over another strong staff (lvl 100 at the moment).
Also isn't Spellsword's ring better than green crystal? Or do I need Attack stat for something?
Early game definitely go with 2 staffs as long as you get a higher magic stat. Only later like t9 maybe you should worry about shields. Also dual wielding was not in the game yet when I made this vid fyi.
Just wear what gives you highest magic stat

@@Shabbash I am T9 since a couple of days, I use 2 staffs and do more damage than using 1 staff and a dragon scroll.

Doing good with weapons, but armor... yikes. I'm at level 204 and I'm still using a just barely famed yeti overcoat. Need to get better armor and fast, because Apollyon is killing me. I've got a Fey Yeti and a Mightiest Mimic raid where I am right now, and I'm praying for a Fey Yeti Coat. Might have to drop my auto dismantle so it doesn't get taken apart!
Sounds good mate you're almost there, weapons are usually the hard one to find lol. Look for high defence armour like nothren stuff and cock robe, shield can help you go deeper as well.

Hey man good question, OK imo balanced def and res is ideal and there are a few options from tier3 to t5 for mages. Grey wolf an drops hood of wolves and robe of wolves, both great. Also similar are Count's head/chest, from vampire lord I think. Absolute best chest piece if you can find a snow weather area and farm for the hour is the t4 yeti coat.
If you can't find decent balanced gear then best thing is to not go 100% res or defense, have 2 armour slots for one and final armour slot for the other, will make you as balanced as possible.
Hi Shabbash, I do enjoy your videos, I hope you can help me with this. I have managed to become archdruid today, unfortunately I have lost magic power and defense I have quite little, but beyond that I have gained life and some mana, oh well, and dexterity. I have lost important parts of my equipment such as my ornate adamantium legs or for example my ornate colossal armor, so you will calculate that I must have lost around 600 defense. Right now I'm a bit out of place, spending 2 million orns after 10 days dedicating 5 hours a day to farming is hard to assimilate, and when I say hard to assimilate I mean that you are supposed to enjoy a new class, especially when it costs 2 million Orns, but in my case I have remained somewhat static, with less magic damage and half defense but with more life, some mana, and dexterity. I think I have not won with the change, but I am going to follow in your footsteps, I want to follow the line of a pure magician, so I will follow in your footsteps as I intended when I was around level 50. I would like to ask you about advice, well I have lost half my defense, right now I have 530 physical defense and 1400 resistance, I have 830 magic power, which has also decreased. I am level 159 and right now I am in T7. I hope answers, thanks!
Hi bud thanks for commenting. Yes Archdruid can seem like a step backwards however those stat changes are very minimal. You cannot wear Warrior gear anymore like you could on battlemage so it's time to find new exciting mage gear!
Archdruid rocks at raiding, I would try and farm Balor Elite kingdom raid as much as you can now, make sure you wear a piece of gear with fire res. Life siphon passive is awesome.
Any legendary mage gear you get from the raid level up and equip.
Try get better staff weapon... You'll be fine.
The problem is you had warrior gear that you cannot equip now.
When discussing staves, what is "boss scaling"?
Good question! Gear dropped from bosses scale higher than gear dropped from mobs. So for example if you take 2 weapons of same tier, one dropped from a regular mob and the other dropped from a boss, both having the same stats at level 1. As you level them up the boss weapon will have higher stats at each level, and the disparity grows at each level as well.
Boss scaling also works on raid boss gear

Hello there, why you don't suggest dual wielding for mage class instead of having scroll as off hand? I am new to the game, but somehow I can wear a second weapon in my other hand and u get much better stats! Am i missing something?
Dual wielding is very strong yes I do recommend it however please note dual wielding was not introduced in the game yet when I made this video 👍

Fey Macha Pillar> Arisen Imagination? or in which situation can be better AI?
Short answer is yes, fey macha has like 250 more magic at demonforged. The proc rate and general boosters given by arisen imagination aren't particularly great, but if it's your highest magic weapon it's obviously still good, I just aim for highest offensive stat on the weapon.
How does dual welding staffs compare to scroll or shield?
Dual wielding is pretty good especially early in the game before you need ward. Always worth checking your stat page to see what gives you most magic. Generally you want to dual wield 2 similary powerful weapons

in what situations should tier 7 rings be used?
Ankou's Ring prevents sleep and cursed, so you can use it in PvE content to use mimic's mischief shill without getting cursed before you find a Fallen Shield or Avalon Crown. Also if sleep dart is getting used a lot against you in local area control or in wars and PvP, the sleep prevention is great. Similarly ring of Annwn is a great PvP accessory when going up against opponents with Greater Yokai, or indeed when doing raids where you can commonly get frozen or paralysed such as The Morrigan in T10, especially as Heretic doesn't have steadfast.
Why would we want to use the scroll as an off hand rather than duel wielding weapons?
Dual wielding was introduced after I made these guides. By all means DW if it increases your magic.

Hi mate thanks for your question. Instead of Apollyon at t9 you can try for other World Raid boss gear with summoning scrolls, Fey Yeti gear has great ward on it. Balor Crown or Arisen Witch's Hat good helms. Mammon and Immortal gear otherwise.

Stats are difficult one to base off, as there's no documented information anywhere suggesting "these are stats you need to do x amount of damage to this raid for this build" etc. Although I'd love to see a tool like that. Generally you look to use biggest magic stat weapon you can find, and higher stat armour or ward you pick up, especially while levelling.

@@MrWulf-nj4zt generally for early to midgame def is better but not long before they're both quite equal, in terms of what monsters dealing damage types

It is a very good idea if you have 2 good weapons.
Please remember this video was published before dual wielding was introduced to the game.

Have replied to this a number of times recently as dual wielding was added after I made this guide. As long as DW gives you more magic it's almost always the best choice, unless you need ward at end game then shield is what you're after so your statement is correct yep! Thanks for commenting.

yo im at t8 and i wonder shoud i waer ornate grounded ljosalfar sceptre its 192% and it has good mag and hp aswell and for the arrmor i have fame overcoat shoud i stick with it and again for boots i have first horsmns it seems they good but u dont talk about them and i want to ask i have normal balor crown shoud i stick to it or go for other

@@nuriraimov4340 yep crown is great. Ljosalfar sceptre is pretty decent yes especially if it's your highest mag weapon, unfortunately no weapon bonus.
As a mage you can actually consider the first horseman boots because you don't have to use hardened steel for Venin.
I like the yeti coats, but if you need more defense use the cock mail, in raids for example
