- Freedom Under Law research consultant Chris Oxtoby has expressed his disappointment in the election of former Western Cape judge president Dr John Hlophe to the Judicial Service Commission.
Oxtoby says even though Hlophe is the most qualified and experienced individual, what led to his impeachment cannot be overlooked.

It's not against the law, but it shows dysfunction of governance in SA. End result is erosion of confidence.

@@nonjikocyril4274 It's an issue of whether it's appropriate for an impeached judge to now be investigating complaints brought against other judges and the appointment of other judges. I just do not think this builds confidence in the judiciary or the government.
