If you turn in all the death roots to the Beast Clergyman before this fight there is unique dialogue at the beginning because he thought of you as a friend just like how Sif thought of you as a friend. But they both had duties to protect what was theirs. I love From games man....

I came to find this fight on youtube literally just to confirm this, such an awesome small detail that caught me off guard when I realized not only that it was Gurranq but also that he remembered us for that.
@@WasBane it's not gurranq tho. I haven't finished the boss yet but when i travel to the spot where he normally is, gurranq is still there

Didn't expect the werewolf priest to pull up with the berserker armor and the guts moveset but I certainly appreciate it.

I absolutely love the transformation cut scene. The way the music goes along with the transformation, dropping you right into the fight is amazing.
From always nails these "beastly knight" bosses.

I really like how the boss moves. Reminds me of dancer of boreal valley but like a ranged version of them
Yup, if dancer had projectiles and a jetpack, I just beat this guy 15mins ago, was a bit rough lol.

My favorite part about this boss is the arena.
The beast clergyman has hands down the coolest boss arena.
Dragon lord placi is cool too in that same area
Maliketh and Placidusax have the coolest, followed by Morgott/Godfrey and Radahn. That said, Elden Beast's arena is also gorgeous.
Imo this is the greatest fight in Elden Ring, once you got his rhythm down, its just like a dance, back and forth between the boss and you. Although his moves are easy to read, they are built around punishing greedy players, so once you quell your thirst down, the fight become so much more satisfying.
For those who dont know how to dodge his flurry stab in phase 2, he usually (but not always) does that after the overhead slam attack. Wait and see if he keep attacking after the slam, if he does then run behind his ass and you can give him a full charged heavy.
Edit: After fighting him for the 99+ time in NG+7, I take back my statement about him punishing greedy players. Rather, you want to be as aggressive as possible, as Maliketh is very agile and wont stand still for you to attack. What you need is good positioning, which allows you to attack him unscathed even during his combo. And yes, this is true even with dual GS, which are slow af.

oh wow so i'm supposed to use a straight sword or a shooting katana and 20 thousand summons instead of trying to beat this boss alone with a heavy weapon? no you can't fucking do a heavy attack on him because you can't even get close to him most of the time, and when you can, it's better to just do a rolling attack and even then it's not guaranteed that you won't get hit for your entire healthbar
it's not about greedy players here, it's about landing at least a single attack after a 20-hit attack chain from a boss, when each of those attacks can one shot you

if you can actually dodge all of his attacms almost perfectly without any struggle, more power to ya, but to me, it was the most bullshit boss i've ever beaten, i had to make so many attempts to at least memorize all of his first stage attacks
although i havent even reached malenia yet, so im pretty sure that will be a lot of fun

This boss is absolutely magnificent, pure art. His design looks like a marriage between Vicar Amelia and Artorias, with a hint of Ludwig. Elden Ring has taken the concept of boss fighting to such a high level that it will be very difficult to beat.
I find he also slams his sword into the ground the way Lorian does too
All the other games have better boss rosters. Elden Ring has amazing spectacles but they aren't that FUN, especially if you just want to do a 2hand dodge roll build, no summons or parries
@@FSVR54 I feel, the game is really hard for melee builds, but I wouldn’t say in a fun way. I use some weapon arts and a summon for the fights and am having a blast now tho, coz solo melee I was frustrating lol
@@samlandry2798 It was an easily viable build in all the games and this one makes it by far one of the hardest if you dont have a bleed weapon
@@FSVR54 all my weapons have bleed hahaha, yeah after the Moon Queen I found pure melee was really hard, kinda frustrating, but trying new things was fun since I could relocate my stats easily

This game is a love letter not just to soulsborne but from software games as a whole. Heck with how the radahn fight went it felt like an armored core boss

This fight somewhat reminds me of Ludwig from Bloodborne. First phase has a fast pace while the second phase lows the pace with deadly blows and AOEs.
Absolutely one of my favorite fights in ER, badass character, awesome armor and weapon, cool story, but most of all, super engaging, energetic fight, in his second phase, if this guy stands still, it's because he knows he dosent have to move to hit you, reminds me of Gael's second phase from ds3
His whole way of moving reminds me of Artorias, even Maliketh's stance, damn Miyazaki and his obligatory Berserk references. Fckn love it.

Love that fight in phase 2. it‘s really bad ass. Unfortunately having to put up with the walk up to the arena and dealing with the extremely weakly designed phase 1 a dozen times really diminishes the overall experience…

mimic tear makes all the bosses so easy... sadly i cant get it as i attacked ranni so she vanished
Edit: you can revive attacked npc or reset hostility with Celestial Dew at Church of Vows
You can still have mimic tear. You can Explore that portion of the map and still gain the ashes
As long as you can kill Radahn, you can get the mimic tear

What exactly is going on with him lorewise? I heard that he was Marika’s half-brother and that he was a shadowbound beast (whatever that means). He also apparently killed the Godskins’ queen, but other than that I know nothing about who/what he is

He safeguarded the rune of destined death, but fragments of it were stolen by the black knife assassins to kill Godwyn the Golden, thus causing the Shattering. Out of shame he sealed the rune within himself so that it could never happen again, until the player's tarnished encounters him.
@@Suiberis Also, Aparently Marika tricked and Betrayed Maliketh. Forcing him to eternally be shadowbound and tied to the destined death.

Maliketh was Marika's half-brother and a fierce warrior loyal to her.
Apparently, he is the one who killed the Godskin Apostles' Queen and banished them.
Marika charged him with guarding the Rune of Death, which he did, but a fragment of it was stolen by the Black Knife Assassins, who used it kill Godwyn.
Out of shame, Maliketh sealed Death itself in his own flesh to prevent anyone from stealing it from him ever again and assumed the alias of "Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman".

i need answers. How the FECK do you deal so much damage, and how is your healthbar that big??? I have 40 vig and wearing radahns armor and i die in 2-3 hits, and i deal way less damage :(

This. I'd legit cry tears of joy if they gave him 30k health instead of his measly 10k. It's just so unfair on him. He survived Destined Death in the lore and makes everyone shit themselves, but he's got 10k health? Godrick already has over 6k and he's basically the first real boss you fight. It makes so little sense, both lore and gameplay wise. Malenia gets 33k health and has like 25% lifesteal, capable of healing a fifth of her entire bar back on her heavier hits like the thrust or slam, and capable of getting outright half of it back using waterfowl dance, but 30k without lifesteal was too much for the strongest character in the lore?

I think this is where my game ends I legit can’t beat this guy. No other boss was even half as hard as his 2nd phase for me. Everyone I summon to help me gets one shot also

Now that I'm re-watching this, I cant stop thinking that the Elden Beast is manifestation of the Erd Tree itself, Melina set the tree ablaze but its trunk only starts burning after you claim the rune of death which means the Erd Tree is a life that cannot die like the rest of the Lands between while Maliketh says "Witless Tarnished... Why covet Destined Death? To kill WHAT?" (not whom, might be a slight imply). I thought the Erd Tree and the Elden Beast were two separate beings of the greater will but now I really cant stop thinking its the same being. Plus one off topic statement which I believe is at least 70% chance to be truth. The lands between clearly refer to Elden Ring (as a game) is combination of all the Fromsoft games (which is a fact) and is meant to represent a CENTER (trunk) which distributes differently among the other lands (branches). If my theories are right then this only makes this a double wonder for the other one is Fromsoft referring to Berserk's tree. I never saw Berserk but I know a thing or two about it but its definitely on my to watch list.
