Finally, one theater critic has the guts to tell children how bad they are at putting on plays.

"Little orphan Annie, as performed by Jenny Mason, age 7, really deserved to be an orphan, given this performance." Savage.
crying with laughter all the way through this
Oof!
Can we begin to handle the word "Savage" appropriately? Pffff
That smirk tho😂
@Miles Doyle what the hell?
This is hilarious, but I think it’s important that people know Alfred Molina is a genuinely kind awesome guy. When I was 13 my family went to New York and we saw him in Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway. Molinas performance was incredible, but it’s what he did after the show that stuck with me. My twin brother is on the autism spectrum, and sometimes has a hard time identifying with people. But he learned every word to every song in that play before we saw it, and he sang along during the entire performance. At the end of the show, when the cast took their bows, when they all walked off stage, Alfred Molina made eye contact with my brother and I and waved to us. Even our dad said there was no doubt who that wave was meant for. We left the theater and happened to find out when the cast exited the building and would sometimes give autographs. We went to the door, and after about 15 minutes of waiting, Alfred came out, saw my brother and walked right over to us. He told my brother that he’d been watching him all night and that my bro had known all the lyrics to every song in the play, and how that had made his night. He signed our playbills and told my brother to keep watching and listening to musicals, which he still does at the age of 29. I will always love Alfred Molina for this.
That’s such a heartwarming story
That is honestly so lovely- I have a big smile on my face after reading that, haha.
Duddee my heart is melting q^q That is sooooooo sweet and such a precious memory to hold onto forever
Awesome.
I didn't think I needed 4 minutes of Doc Ock shitting on kid's theatre, but here we are
The life of having those mechanical arms just changed the man’s soul!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 welp
should be a mini series but instead of Just Doc Ock its the critic and Doc ock sitting next to each other whilest watching young peter parker on stage
@@beansonatoast8326
Have him also critique on young Miles Morales while he takes over Peter's body (Superior Spider-Man arc).
Lol, I read this comment and Molina’s sardonic voice popped into my head, “Alfredo Molina, thrice Tony Award nominated star of the West End and Broadway, though most widely known for his depiction of *shudders*Otto Octavius in Samual Reimi’s “The Spider Man” - it is hardly any wonder that he chose to become a critic, as it is clear his brilliance has been unappreciated by the general public”
Funny to hear Molina using his real accent in this. He almost always plays Americans.
He kept his real voice in Rtte. And put on a Spanish accent in Rango.
Yeah. He used it in Species too.
In Summer Camp Island he uses his normal voice when he plays Oscar's dad
I think he’s making himself sound posher than he usually sounds here
@@venusianblivet9518 now that you mention it I can hear the posh for Oscar's dad
I would watch a whole season of this. Molina carries this like Atlas.
"Hello Peter"
Could you hold this for me, I’ve got a spot of errands I must attend to
Well, he is the main character of a sketch that most of the characters are portrayed by first graders.
Forget that, give this it's own film
If they ever did a live ratatouille, he’s the one for the job.
Peter Pan: *Appears on stage*
Critic: "Hello, Peter."
That’s good! Hands down, that was smart!
Yeah, that joke was too amazing for this Earth
Genius! Bravo! Bravo!!
Peter Pan: "I'm gonna put some pixie dust in your eye"
This must have been how the audience felt the very first time "Much Ado About Nothing" was performed for them.
Bravo, my good sir, bravo.
"The production was full of pathos, postmodern wit, and devastating ambivalence."
Just gonna stash that one in my front pocket for when Uncle Reginald asks my opinion of the latest A24 film
underrated comment
I would mark this comment in my wall lol
Pathos: To elicit, or appeal to, the feelings and ideals of the audience
Postmodernism: Via Wikipedia, "Postmodernism is [...] characterized by skepticism towards scientific rationalism and the concept of objective reality (as opposed to subjective reality). It questions the "grand narratives" of modernity, rejects the certainty of knowledge and stable meaning, and acknowledges the influence of ideology in maintaining political power."
Ambivalence: To be uncertain of how you feel about something

That'd be such a funny thing to say at an actual play too
hhhhh
that I'm so sorry line and his delivery is GOLDEN
@Miles Doyle And!?
Now me personally, I would not let that slide.
The fact childern are acting well to mimic BAD acting is amazing in itself
Filming took 7 months. At least.
I know Alfred Molina is iconic as Doctor Octopus, but this proves he would've made a solid Wilson Fisk too.
Or a live action Gru. I know Steve Carrell does the voice but Molina definitely looks the part here.
I got kingpin vibes too but I don't think he's tall or beefy enough
@@puffpuffpassmako He'd be a great calendar man
He’s great but Vincent D’onofrio IS kingpin
@ChAngeLoG Alfred Molina did voice lex luthor in the robot chicken show, so he has played the character
Alfred Molina is so underrated. Absolutely loved him in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Spiderman 2, and he gave amazing voice work in Monster University and Wonder Woman 2009!
He had a good cameo in Vice
His best performance ever though was Boogie Nights
He was in those movies?? I saw Wonder Woman 2009 and MU is one of my favorite movies ever....he's Professor Knight isn't he?
And Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot
You're tripping me out with that Raiders role I can't believe he played that dude.
Why yes CZcams, I would love to watch this 8 years later because Alfred Molina was was just shown in the Spiderman 3 trailer
Worry not friend, you're not alone.
Me too
Holy fuck, I was about to say the exact same but found your comment. How has this skit never come across my radar until 9/11/21?!
you just summarized why everyone has found this
Oh, so that's what's going on. I was wondering...
“You’re mean!”
“I’m mean? The only cruelty I see is you submitting your audience to a dull, trite, and utterly unconvincing performance. Not for one moment did I believe you were a tree!”

He's the reason we have such excellent child actors today. Thank you, Arthur H. Cartwright.
Amen! This man is doing the Lord’s work!
"Hardly worth the free admission" is my new line.
1:29 The sheer outrage on that "AMATEUR" is too much. I love how seriously he took this.
the stare when the kid is waving kills me
"Little orphan Annie, portrayed by Jenny Mason, age 7, deserves to be an orphan after this performance." And like that, all the ice caps finally melted, because that is one hell of a burn. Love Arthur and read his reviews very often!
Alfred Molina is magical. His recent voice work in Solar Opposites was so great.
@Anakin Skywalker CW and the Devil in season 1 of Rick and Morty!!
"Hello Peter"
I hope you don’t get another like 616 is perfect when speaking of Marvel.
I love how the child actors in this entire sequence are phenomenal. (off-stage at least... AWFUL in their plays obviously)
Expect that one, he was god awful.
I know right?
Alfred Molina should play Gru, if they ever make a live action Despicable Me movie.
Yessssss
He reminds me of Ego from Ratatouille
Gru: The power of the moon, in the palm of my hand
From around the time 'Prick Up Your Ears' came out in the 80s and if they made 'Despicable Me' in live action and it was filmed in the 80s, Alfred Molina would've been great as Gru and Gary Oldman would've been a great Vector
Alfred Molina in this scene, he does look like gru LOL🤣🤣🤣
2:02 sounds like he genuinely broke character laughing there.
Sean Lock, in my opinion, is the greatest at criticizing children's plays. In his infamous words of criticism "Fucking disgrace"
Oh God yeah! I was in tears by the end of his rant. I was also in tears when I found out we lost him. Another great comedian gone too soon. RIP Sean
"I dunno... I, I thought they were shit"
The carrot in the box king. I love all his rants
the OG
'Nothing worse than kids fuckin' trying to act'
"I truly believed, the catapillar was very, very, hungry."
Nobody deserves to criticize children's theater more than Doctor Octopus.
As a drama teacher, I can say that these are the things we WISHED we could say to students.
Bro, in world language when we were supposed to play a part of any Greek god, i played him with a commanding voice, had good posture, great vocal projection, and I did not even need my script, but everyone else was so bad it was not even funny, I was just bored, for one group it took 10 minutes for them to do it, and my partner was also mediocre, but I pushed through.
Anyone else get this recommended after Alfred Molina was confirmed to return in some form in MCU Spider-Man 3?
Yup lol
yup
