Hey guys I found a great product that allows you to mount your transducer with less holes in your boat! Thank you for your support!!! Please comment, rate and subscribe!!!!
I was looking for a video on how to mount my new Lowrance and this made me happy to see a great way to keep from putting so many holes in the boat. "Hey Daddy" at the end of the video was priceless.
This is a nifty idea! I don't think it would work on the tiny 9 ft. boat I have, but I'm looking into it. You did a professional job! Thanks for sharing this!
I didn't even know they made that. I cut up an old hard plastic cutting board and used it which works fine. Next boat I'll definitely be purchasing that product, as always, great video brother
Nice. I'm upgrading the electronics on my 2001 bass tracker as well. The new transducer for the back won't fit the existing bracket. Luckily the last depthfinder was able to use the same bracket but not the case with this one. I ordered a similar mounting plate off of amazon to try out. I'm glad you mentioned about filling in the old holes because I was wondering about that as well. Great video 👍🏻
I made my own out of thick plastic cutting board. Cut it out to the specs I wanted and sanded the sides down smooth. Then sealed around it with fast cure white 5200 3m. Came out really good and only spent 16 bucks for the job.
*I use this depth finder to fish for crappi and to mark places I have found crappi this is a great little depth finder>>>**allabout.wiki/4m7o** I put it on a 16 ft Jon boat and it's is very accurate and has a great picture easy to use and mark spots and helps you get back to those exact spots*
I think the whole idea of using a transducer mounting plate is to avoid drilling holes in the boat. I used the Stern Saver specifically for that reason ... No holes in my boat.
Wow, they actually sell this stuff now....crazy. My dad and I mounted something like this back in the early 90s to his old boat. He just picked up some scrap hard poly plastic, like that mount you're using, from his manufacturing plant. Only cost was silicone and stainless bolts and nuts.
Justin smith.my old friend worked at a old garage door company back in the 90's & i dont know what they used it for but he has about 100 sticks of 16' long poly board.he gave me a stick & i cut a 12" piece & used flex glue to attach it to the boat.it aint going anywhere.but yea they actuly sell little pieces of poly board 6"-12" with a fancy packaging that sais " transducer mounting block" and they sell them for $40.00
@@ninjagodzilla6402 yeah, my dad worked at a company and they would use it for manufacturing. They would have leftover boards and he cut them down just the same. I think he used epoxy and silicone to mount it to the boat.
Love the video man. Can't wait till i can get a boat of my own. Thinking of doing some fishing vids tho. Anything you would like to see I was trying to think of some ideas if you could help. Thanks nick.
Hey Nick, thanks for the comment buddy. I'm a fan of more tips and tricks videos vs actual fishing videos. Looking forward to anything you come up with. I'm subbed and ready!
With that mounting location do you still get solid readings while on plane at both slow and fast speeds? I have the same boat and the factory install is on the lower part of the boat near the plug (where logs can hit it as you mentioned) but I get great readings no matter my speed in that location. Thanks for the reply in advanced and thank again for the video - Fish On!
It really doesn't read at all while on plane at higher speeds...but that wasn't my concern. Like I mentioned in this video, I was just looking to protect it as I didn't need it reading while on plane. Hope that helps you. Thanks for watching!
Hey TackleJunky! I absolutely love your fishing channel and I've probably watched every video!! I have about 9 videos and you've inspired me to get to your status and I was wondering what I can do to get to the level you are. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. -Jordan
The main thing is to find your niche and stay active. You'll notice on my channel that my fishing videos do not get near as many views as my tackle videos or tips and tricks videos. You just have to figure out what guys like to see from your channel and put out those kinds of videos.
Hey TackleJunky. Great video. I am installing the same transducer for a SI unit on my own TXW. Nobody seems to agree on where to mount it. Without a jack-plate, lots of people say that the motor will protrude into the signal path of the transducer, adding clutter to one side of the screen. Others say that mounting it where you have yours mounted will impede high-speed performance. I do not need high-speed performance at above 15mph or so, but of course, it would be nice to even use the included 2d sonar at 20-30mph speeds (I have a 60hp so speeds above 35 are rare). Have you found this to be the case? Does mounting the SI transducer where you have it make scanning at, say, 10 mph and up impossible? Does the motor interfere with the signal unless it is tilted way up, even at slow speeds? Thanks man.
micboy98 There are so many different opinions on this. To be honest I just asked bass pro where they would install it if they were to do it and that's the spot. That's where the stock one was and if you look on the show room floor you will see most of them in the same spot. I can't say I have paid attention to what speed it cuts out at but I'm sure it's between 10 and 15mph. I probably don't go over much more than 5 to 10mph while looking for a spot and I can't recall any issues. Hope that helps ya man!
Hey awesome video! one question, Im installing my transducer soon and I thought u needed a straight shot from the front to back of boat? I see yours has a step behind it.. thanks
Wow 7 holes!!!! Youre lucky!!! I got 14 holes in the back of mine!!! Very upset! My problem was a defective transducer & i was told that i was mounting my transducer wrong!!! Wich i wasnt! Im mounting a transducer plate right now watching ur video! Garmin is sending me a nee one & i am pretty upset but i defintly wont be drilling anymore in my transom.garmin should pay for my dang transom but what do u do.
On my 2016 my transducer is mounted on the lower step part from the factory. Are you getting readings while you are on plane with it mounted that high?
+TackleJunky81 cool.. Thats where I'm going to mount my Humminbird side/down imaging ducer on my 2016 tracker 175. I have log problems in one of my lakes I like to fish as well
Ok i got a question i do a lot of cat fishing and im running the Helix 9 unit and im having a hard time seeing my bait on screen no mater if im fishing 20ft of water or 80ft of water i usually have 6 rods down and if im lucky i may can see 1 what do you think the problem is it looks level dont matter how much i turn my gain up im really confused. Not sure how your suppose to put a level on it cause the boat naturally sets unlevel in water so if you level ur trailer and level ur transducer looks like it wouldn't be level in water idk any idea's.
it dont matter if i put imy sensitivity on 0 or 20 still the same sometimes i can see my lines sometime i cant . Im not new to sonar im just wandering if i have a problem with mount or transducer . I can read the bottom up to bout 28mph so seems like its mounted correctly
Those mounting plates are somewhat....well insanely overpriced I'll say, BUT, I did some R/D and came up with my own DIY mounting plate. I was able to find a neighbour who had done some external trim work on his house, and the material he used was polypropylene exterior house trim. He has several pieces leftover that I was able to sand down for a smooth rounded edge finish & sealed it to my transom. No more holes, no more drilling new holes to my transom either! It looks great and it's exactly the same material as these way over priced $40 and $50 mounting plates! All it cost me was a couple of pints of beer and a tube of marina grade sealant, which was about $10! DIY BOYS...better then the old Red Green applications....and/or duct tape! haha!
Did you screw it to your transom or just mount it with adhesive? I'd like to mount a piece of something (vinyl block or polypropylene house trim as you did) to the transom with just adhesive (no screw holes)..... not sure if that will work though....

So is that screwed or bolted to the boat? Did the hardware for attaching it come with the plate?
+burnztubeyou Screwed, and I believe the screws came with it as well
Will the motor interfere with side imaging if you mount it where you did?
I didn't have any issues with it, but it won't read on plane that high.

I don't get much of a reading over 15 mph, but I mounted it higher because of the stumps in the lake that I fish.

Where can you get the sticky pads for the cables?
Dale Maddox I got them at Ace Hardware.
Do you lose bottom with your transducer mounted above the bottom edge of your transom? I'd think it would come out of the water when you're on plane.
I don't get much of a reading over 15 mph, but I mounted it higher because of the stumps in the lake that I fish.
+TackleJunky81 I understand that completely. Thanks a ton for the reply.
What the the wired white pointed piece of plastic to the left of the transducer? My new boat has it and I can't figure it what it's function is?
It reads your mph. If it ever stops reading most likely you hit a stump or something and flipped it up.

How about mounting on a pontoon boat ?
David Bowers I'm not very familiar with a pontoon boat or how they're set up.
What is the white transducer for
Speedometer
Not a transducer. That's a tube that runs water to the live well.
Bass Pro Shops just picked up the Stern Saver, a glue-on transducer mounting plate so you don't have to drill any holes in your boat. And it comes in four different colors. Here is a CZcams video on how to install it czcams.com/video/ciy1najrIFE/video.html
Pretty slick, I'm set for the moment, but if anyone asks I can put the word out on your product.
why not just use epoxy (no screws at all)?
I personally wouldn't trust epoxy. I feel it's more secure with screws.
What is the white thing mounted on the left of the plate underneath?
It's just the speedometer sensor. Thanks for watchin!!
Ah I figured it was something like that. I have a 2007 model of the same boat but mine doesn't have that.
And there called sticky pads.
Terry Graham I believe so. They are right by the zip ties.
Got it thanks again and good fishing.
I would use 4 screws on the plate if you didn't glue it to the boat.
where did you get the sticky pads at.
