      You bet it does! I am still looking for my eau de parfum...if this EDT smells this great and you can't live without your EDP...I gotta smell it! but right now it is 2am and I have to make my batch of Sperheoven Krispies! czcams.com/video/-8v1GzfkKBM/video.html

      OMG!!! Are you kidding me??!??! YESSSSSS!!! The eau de parfum is beyond anything I have ever smelled! Its so nineties but at the same time so different from anything else in the nineties. It is daring and conservative at the same time. It is warm and cold at the same time. The pepper burns and the vanilla linders the pain... its like an SM realtionship where the partner knows your limits and never hurts you just because you let them hurt you! You let o of control and the fragrance does the rest! But I digress... its getting hot in th efahion buner... ufff.... I need to go out and get some fresh air.. (Said in Blanche Deveroux voice ;) ) haha! coco coco coco

    Superb fragrance.Just so unique.If you want something better than 1Million or Spicebomb or Diesel Bad Intense this is it,no question.This is pinnacle of oriental spice fragrances.So strong,long lasting but sophisticated and mystical.I also love the way it spreads the fragrance,in big wide mist,similar to those classic female perfume pump sprays.There really is nothing like it.It's like it's other sweeter brother La Nuite but much more stronger and spicier in smell.Worth every cent.10/10 for sure!

    I had a friend whose mother was a company rep for Yves Saint Laurent and my friend got a bunch of mini bottles of this in mini boxes-- wonderful sample-size bottles. He gave me a couple. At the time I was wearing another Jacques Cavallier gem: Bvlgari Pour Homme, which I'm wearing right now in fact! I remember Opium Pour Homme being spicy and warm and inviting. Great review and great to see you on here again!

    Welcome back Linear and great review as always.
    I want to buy a couple of classic fragances and I am deciding between Chanel Egoiste, Opium, Heritage, Eau Sauvage and Habit Rouge. I need to blind buy since they are not available where I live. As a reference, I love Polo green, Antaeus and Fahrenheit. I really appreciate your advise. Thanks.

    • @laniersmith1798
      @laniersmith1798  Před 7 lety +1

      Well if you like Antaeus may I suggest Chanel Egoiste. Vintage Opium is wonderful. Eau Sauvage has changed from what it used to be so I would go with a vintage bottle if you can find it at a reasonable price. Cheers!

    • @sergiodavalos591
      @sergiodavalos591 Před 7 lety +1

      Much much appreciate your help Linear. I will then go for Egoiste and will take the risk of buying Opium new formulation. Sauvage vintage here are above 400 or 500 usd just like Opium vintage. Have a great day.

    HAPPY HALLO`s FROM DENMARK, Mr Lanier!!! It turned out that I in fact own a bottle from 1996, and I just bought another bottle from around 2005-2011 - I compared the two, a spray on each arm, and they were soooo similar, that I dont think anyone could tell a diffrence. I asked my kids to smell it too, to tell which one was stronger / longest lasting - and they thought the 1996 was strongest, and I thought the newest was the strongest. So probably a Tie :) I hope You find that info helpfull, have a GREAT DAY, Hugs from Denmark

Opium Pour Homme is another fragrance I have been eyeing the past 2-3 years, but have never gotten around to putting my nose on it. Unfortunately (for this fragrance) I just received of a shipment of Montale Intense Cafe, Mancera Aoud Vanille, Mancera Aoud Blue Notes and a couple other cheapies. Perhaps this Spring? We shall see. For me . Opium is one of a kind. I always loved that strange pungent smell of the vanilla and anise , when I was a teenager I felt attracted to its magic scent . I personally don’t like too much the current YSL fragrance lineup, and weak performance, they’ve just kept on making flankers over and over (From L’Homme) . I’ve had some YSL fragrances but... the best one I’ve ever had it’s the Live Jazz.. what a blast !! Sadly discontinued.

    It was my favourite perfume and I lived for it in those days.
    I loved the commercial too, though I always think that the very best perfume commercial, at least of the ones I have seen, is for Chanel Egoiste. That fragrance is not an absolute favourite, but I live for the commercial! So artistic and French and the Prokofiev music is a perfect complement to the dramatic ad!

So Dan if you are nervous do what I did the first time I wore a "woman's" fragrance in public. I did not enjoy the opening, there's a screeching smelling woody ambery note which i don't enjoy but fortunately it doesn't last long. the very smooth dry down makes up for it. Hi Lanier. I forgot to add that the price of this fragrance was as low as £10 in discount stores, although this was some time ago. Now you can pay as much as £50 or more crazy!

    Can anyone tell me what to look for in finding an original formulation of this? Like on the bottom , which company was producing it? I tried sanofi but it isn’t as I remember it? Thanks

    I keep reading that this has unfortunately been reformulated in recent years. Is the newer formulation still performing decently? It sounds like an amazing frag that I’d like to pick up but I don’t want to buy watered down juice which YSL is notorious for doing.

      Mine is a vintage bottle. I have never smelled the latest incarnation so I can't answer your question. So sorry. Cheers.

      Oh well you see I now live in a much bigger house so making a cocktail and taking it up stars is a lot of work! LOL but maybe more cocktails soon. Cheers!

    what would you recommend opium or Givenchy Gentleman ?

    • @laniersmith1798
      @laniersmith1798  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Yasir! Well that is a tough question because I like them both. It depends on what you are looking for. It you want a classic barbershop 1950-60's scent then go for the Givenchy Gentleman. (I know it was released in 1974 but it is closer to the 60's than to the big shoulder fragrances of the 1980's) If you want the big bold 1980's spice and drama that makes heads turn when you enter a room Opium is your man.
      Cheers!

    My Opium just doesn't project, at all. After first 30 mins its just a skin scent. Waste of money

      It's because you got used to the scent.On first wear every long lasting fragrance you'll feel throughout the day but as times goes on your nose gets accustomed to every scent and you'll always feel you can't smell it but trust me others can.Also this is strictly cold weather fragrance (fall/winter),also spray perfume inside of your shirt,not on your skin,lasts longer plus it's more healthier
