- Remember when everyone was theorizing on who Infinite was and his relationship with the Avatar in the story before Forces came out? Well I guess you can believe that Infinite and the Avatar were best buddies...

Story time: Jackal and the Custom Hero were friends in some sort of army were they would fight against Eggman. In their past, Jackal saved Custom Hero from some sort of ambush and decided to teach Custom his way of surviving and fighting, like a mentor, student relationship. However, Eggman captured Jackal and decided to use his DNA forcefully to create Infinte. Infinite would be a clone of Jackal, made with his same blood, but fully program to follow every command of Eggman. Eggman would learn earlier about Null Space and have Infinte send Jackal into it. When Sonic is getting sucked into Null Space, Custom pushes Sonic out of the way and gets sucked in instead. Custom is brought into Null Space, and finally reunites with Jackal, who throughout the game thought was Infinte.Jackal gives the full back-story of Infinite and everything about the cloning. Infinte and Custom then manages to break out of Null Space and fight their way through the city, where Jackal would become part of the resistance

Here is a super amazing fanfiction that I'm making up as I go along.

Our story begins with [Redacted] the Jackal, who would later become Infinite. Let's just call him Infinite He was the leader of the Jackal Squad. They did [Redacted]. Original the Character was a part of this Squad. He and Infinite grew a tight bond, they were like brothers. This was, until, an attack on Eggman exposed Infinite to the corruption of the Phantom Ruby, and forever changed their friendship. Exposure to the Phantom Ruby took away most of Infinite's memories except for basic or necessary ones. Original the Character joined the Resistance in hopes of destroying the Phantom Ruby and getting his friend, or should I say his brother, back.
Welp, that's like 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Isn't that nice?

see I feel like this would've been a cool idea for a backstory for your avatar and infinite. also would explain where they learned "double boost" and why they can use it with sonic.

ShadowCaveSpider You never know. We didn’t learn about Infinite's life before becoming a merc. It’s always possible they were childhood friends before Infinite created the Jackal Squad.
its a shame how Sega pulled our legs on this one, they make infinite look like hes an overpowered mastermind, cool and with mysterious background, and at the end he is just a guy with a powerful rock motivated by a tantrun, oh well, atleast his song is good
Goggles Veemon That's not all of it. He was considered to be the ultimate mercenary by everyone he killed. His list for power overtook him once he lost to Shadow.
The music is one of the few saving graces of this game we cant denny that.

That's more of the writers fault. Sonic Forces does a lot of tell but doesn't show. The prequel comic & the game have inconsistencies.

It’s not specificity gadget though since that would just make things weird. you could still just make gadget if you wanted to.but like in the script, the character could either be your forces custom character via a forces save file or a new one that’s treated like the forces custom character
So This Is Probably Why Infinite Is A Bad Guy Since He Saw Avatar And Sonic Together He Got Jealous And Came To The Bad Side Or He's Being Controlled By Eggman Aka Robotnik

“Enjoy all the nothing Soni- Wait, NO! WHAT IS THAT FOX DOING?” Was all Gadget heard as he was pulled into the portal. He fell on a bunch of cubes, and began to lose consciousness. All he saw was a Jackal rushing to him, saying “OH SHO-“

Gadget woke up, on a strange platform, made from purple cubes. He was confused before all the memories began to flood back. He stood up and looked around, and saw a Jackal sitting down nearby. It heard him, and turned around.
“Oh hey! You’re awake!”
Gadget clenched his Wispon, suspicious. He knew who that Jackal was.
“No! I’m not that Infinite guy!” The Jackal exclaimed, raising its hands.
Gadget got confused by this action, and slightly lowered the Wispon.
“That Infinite out there is a clone of me, made to harness the Phantom Ruby. Eggman captured me and took my DNA to make it. Afterwards, when he discovered this Null Space, he threw me into it, not needing me anymore.” The Jackal said.
Gadget lowered his Wispon fully.
“Zero?” He manages to croak out.
The Jackal flinched.
“You.. know my name? How?” They said.
“Cmon, you don’t remember me? It’s Gadget!” Said the red fox.
Zero gasped when he heard the name Gadget.
“Gadget... is that really you? After all this time?”
Both were beginning to tear up, and hugged eachother.
After that cute moment, the two began to think of how to escape.
Gadget thought.. what would Sonic do? Hm... Aha!
A light bulb appeared over Gadgets head, surprising Zero.
“How do people even do that..” he says, facepalming.
“Zero! I think I know a way to escape this place!” Said Gadget.
“But how? I’ve tried everything.” Said Zero, moping slightly.
“It’s a cool technique Sonic taught me! oh, and it reminds me, you should take this.” He said, giving Zero a comms link.
“Well, ok then.. what’s it called?” Implied the Jackal.

Sonic was running from Eggman, drifting on the rails. This attack has failed, and the resistance is retreating.
“Damn you Eggman..” he said, thinking about the rookies sacrifice.
**Distortion noises**
“What the?” Sonic said, looking back.
A Portal, similar to the one Gadget pushed him from opened. It bended like rubber, trying to keep something in. Eventually, the strain couldn’t take it anymore, and Sonic watched a seemingly Blue Comet rush out and run on the side of a building. He saw a brief glimpse of a Jackal holding a Red Foxes hand, both running at max speed.
‘Where were you Rookie!? You just up and disappeared!’ Said Knuckles in the comms.
‘Nothing happened.’ Said Gadget.
‘Literally.’ Said Zero, confusing Knuckles.
‘Who is that Rookie? Why are they in the comms?!’ Shouted Knuckles.
‘I’ll explain later, when we’re at the base.’ Shouted Gadget as he closed the link.
Gadget and Zero slowed down and jumped on to the rail next to Sonic, who now gaped seeing the two.
“Rookie? And.. INFINITE?!” Sonic shouted, and then gritting his teeth preparing to spindash.
“Wait, Sonic dont!” Gadget Shouted.
Sonic got confused.
“You’re gonna have to explain a LOT when you get back to base, Rookie.” He snarled, thinking he was holding hands with Infinite.

Sonic made it back to base first, and stomped his foot excessively for Gadget to show up. Zero was hiding behind him.
“So, Rookie! I think you found a new recruit... wait, where is he?” Said Knuckles, Looking around.
Gadget sweatdropped.
“Ok, before I step to the side, don’t panic and draw your weapons please?” He said, weakly.
The resistance members nearby began to be on guard.
“Uhm.. weird thing to ask, but ok?” Said Tails.
Gadget sighed.
“Here we go..” he muttered, stepping aside to reveal the Jackal behind him.
There was a brief moment of silence, with everybody gaping.
“INFINITE?! ARE YOU INSANE ROOKI-“ Knuckles screamed before being cut off.
“Can I just explain a few things first?” The Jackal interrupted.
Knuckles raised a fist, but slowly lowered it, grumbling.
“So, it all started when me and the one you call Rookie, known as Gadget, were raiding a Eggman base....”

“And that’s when he helped me escape Null Space with that Double Boost thing.” Finished Zero.
Sonic was wide eyed. Knuckles fumed and punched a Eggman symbol on a war planner. Amy cried for Zeros plight. Tails puked nearby at the torture Zero had gone through. Even Gadget wasn’t told everything.
“I understand if this confuses you.. but I would like to join the Resistance.” Zero said, making everybody gasp.
“But what happens if you encounter Infin- your Clone?” Said Tails.
“I’ll be ready for him.” Zero said, pulling out a red handle. Inside of it was a chunk of glowing red gemstone, signaling it as a Phantom Ruby Prototype. Gadget smirked, having seen it before.
“The only reason I was used for the DNA is because I had been in contact with the Ruby. Now that I’m free.. i wanna repay Eggman for what he did to me and my friends.” Said Zero, clicking a button. The Ruby inside flowed and a blade manifested, jagged and sharp.
Knuckles began to smirk.
*”Well then.. welcome to the Resistance, Zero!”*
