Considering Ukraine have been in a holding position for months due to lack of weapons and personnel, Russia have gained very little. The tide will turn come Spring/Summer. Russias economy has been artificially boosted by being put on a war footing, but in time it will be bled dry. Effectively Russia have become a poodle of China, and in time a basket case dependent on its eastern ally, a third rate country that will take decades to recover. The West know the long game favours NATO and European security.
