I think yall completely missed the mark on roaming throne. Well over 70% of the top commanders on EDH rec from the passed two years can run this simply as a 4 mana creature that double the commanders triggered abilities. It's ubiquitously powerful. IMO A+ staple of the format card.
I've been meaning to say that Mia has really settled in, and I've really grown to love your dynamic. It's not easy to have to replace someone so integral to what you do, but I'd say you guys pulled it off, and then some.
Where’s Cherries?
Imo Roaming Throne is *insane*. In a tribal deck of course, but I'm of the opinion you do not need a tribal deck for it to do work. If your commander has 1-2 triggered abilities youre already cooking. Maybe its accidental due to the commanders I play but in almost every deck it just seems very tempting.
Beezy I am SO glad you do this stuff I just don't have the time to mull over what to try or pick up automatically from new sets cuz it's eternal spoiler season. This helps me set goals and a budget for them. Stuff that saves time and money is priceless.

I agree very much, I also just buy a few cards and they usually some that I learned about here.. Though, I would be happy if it were a few more, kind of best 30, at least if it's the only review of the set.

I think roaming throne is great when you stop thinking about it as a kindred deck tool, and utilize it to double all your commander's triggered abilities. Before there were artifacts like strionic resonator and lithoform engine, but now you can do it as much as you can trigger while without paying in additional mana

Exactly. Having a static Strionic resonator for your Commander's triggered abilities is fantastic. Should go in any deck where the Commander has a triggered ability.

I'm so hyped for Roaming Throne in my Aragorn, the Uniter deck - not only does the Commander have 4 great triggered abilities, I have about 20 other humans with triggered abilities. My threshold for non-multicolor cards is extremely high for this deck, even more so for colorless cards, so this will be only the second artifact (next to Relic of Legends) to be included.
And to top it all off, the set will give me 3 more cards to include: Anim Pakal, Caparocti Sunborn and Sovereign Okinec Ahau

So are wren and six, mana crypt, and cavern of souls. All of their prices went up by something like 50%-100% between the time they were put on and the last time I checked them lol. Let’s never give them any credit for the list.

Idk when you checked, 2X2 reprinted both those but mana crypt, and those same two also see plenty of play in modern wanted as 4-of in the decks that play them
@@JustRightPinedoyeah that’s the point, the list doesn’t increase supply. If they just said those cards were on the list and they never actually printed them the price would be exactly the same.
I pulled a dockside after the prerelease ended and I was given 2 packs. Im fairly new to paper magic so I happen to have only one commander deck, but it’s Korvold Fae Cursed King and he’s going in! lol not selling him!😂

Im glad they found a middle ground on the term issue. Kindred just sounds way less awkward than typal.
That 3rd honorable mention literally can go in any deck that has a commander that has a triggered ability that is good, doubling your commanders effect is amazing. Should have definitely been on the list at the least. It's probably the card I got hyped for the most. 😅

Roaming Throne is really good in the right deck, it's an arguably stronger upgrade in my Adeline deck than Ojer Taq. Ojer Taq will triple the tokens from Adeline's triggered ability, which will produce triple ETB triggers (Beregond, Court Street Denizen, Goldnight Commander). By comparison, Roaming Throne will copy the Adeline trigger, only doubling the tokens, but will QUADRUPLE the ETB triggers from these human sources. And it has Ward, and it ETBs as a human for double human ETB triggers itself. Very nice.

@@Shimatzu95 we don’t like “need” anything besides the basic variants that fill in a set (shock, cancel, ramp, etc). They’re gonna continue exploring new space and iterating on old and if that intimidates you then you should like find a set and take up block constructed instead of commander

My game store had these out early and I managed to pull the full alt art foil bloodletter of acalazots and that was a good day
For Roaming Throne, don’t forget that if your whole deck revolves around your commander triggering, you can put that in the deck with no other kindred synergies at all. It’s like strophic resonator for your commander that you never need to pay to activate and it can double the trigger over and over.
It probably goes in WAY more decks than people realize.

Ghalta will be sick in my Atraxa, Grand Unifier deck.
„I‘m gonna play Ghalta, put all creatures from my hand into play. Oh yeah, they all ETB’s and thanks to Yarok and Elesh Norn, they trigger three times. Then I‘ll blink Atraxa, get my hand full of cards with three new creatures, blink Ghalta and let them etb three times again.“

I really like the Life Finds A Way and the Kutzil card. Ojar Taq and Bloodletter are strong cards. A green and white Commander deck would be very strong using these cards. Ghalta is INSANE!!!! Thank you for the video Nitpicking Nerds.

Roaming throne is easily to goat of the set. It literally goes in every single deck with a commander that has a triggered ability regardless of the tribe stuff.

Kutzil will go great in my Jodah the unifier deck, since all my creatures are always buffed anyways and now I don’t have to worry about my stuff getting countered or blown up :) also ojer taq will go great in my ratadrabik deck, if I can sac it, make a copy with my commander, and transform the land back into the creature and sac it again I now have 4 of them which = 81x the tokens for all my stuff :)
I'm putting the calendar in my chatterfang deck with squirrel nest earthcraft
For the calendar, run tekuthal and proliferate. With the Blue Miojin from kamigawa, get 2 indestructible counters on her, than cast a creature that proliferates on etb to instantly win.
If Ghalta in your library you can use defense of the heart pull her out plus 2 more heavy hitters and get to dump your hand

Would Kutzil’s ability work with just a Lord effect? I’m guessing if you go wide with 10 Cat tokens with +1/+1 you’re only drawing one card. This is probably going right into my Rin & Siri deck anyway.😊

That's pretty confusing lol but I would guess that you wouldn't get any extras. Definitely double check with a judge though!

As someone with both Doubling Season and Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, Millennium Calendar looks like something I need
Sphinx of the second sun could be nice too, not only doubling your untap steps but also your „tap to double“ abilities
I'm glad this set has so much dinosaur support, but I really wish they'd print some cool new goblins. I could really use an opportunity to shake up my mono-red Krenko Deck for the odd chance I don't get the infinite combo.
The Milienium Calender is good for infinite mana combos
unwinding clock plus the calendar can kill on the third opponents turn by taping it 3 time's but the issue is getting 150 counters on the calendar at the end of you're turn.
fastest I can figure is somewhere during turn 4:
turn 1: land, sol ring,signet+ calendar = 0 counters
turn 2: untap land+sol ring+signet = 3 counters, tap calendar = 6 counters
turn 3: untap 2 lands+sol ring+calendar+signet = 11 counters, play unwinding clock, tap calendar=22 counters
turn 3.opp1: tap to double to 44
opp2: double to 88
opp3: double to 176
turn 4: untap 3 lands + sol ring + calendar + signet = 182 counters, double to 364
turn 4.1: double to 728
turn 4.2 double to 1456
may be able to pop it during the first opponent's turn on 4, but seems like a stretch to get from 364 to 500, unless I'm missing something
Well if it doubles the counters each time you tap it then on your turn at 150 then tap it on the opponents turn it becomes 300 then next opponent it would be 600 then on the 4 players turn it would become 1200 unless I miss read the doubling counters part

turn 1: land, sol ring,signet+ calendar = 0 counters
turn 2: untap land+sol ring+signet = 3 counters, play land, signet, signet, voltaic key, tap calendar = 6 counters
turn 3: untap 2 lands+sol ring+calendar+3 signets = 13 counters, play unwinding clock, another signet, tap calendar=26 counters
turn 3.opp1: tap to double to 52, untap w voltaic key, tap to 104
opp2: double twice to 416
opp3: double twice to 1664

The problem i have with Ojer Taq is it is 6 mana so it might be too slow for even creature token centric decks. Its not a bad card by any means but in commander having it in the 99 ether means youll have to tutor to get it or just hope to draw it for it to actually be useful. Also while it does triple your creature tokens you have Mondrak and Anointed Procession for white, and Doubling season, Primal vigor and Parallel Lives in green. So do you really need a 6th token generator especially since its ONLY for creatures while the other options work on ANY token.

Vehicles work with avoiding goad, but they do not avoid Kardur's ability, since Kardur doesnt goad but affects all creatures of opponents, no matter when they enter or when they become a creature.
Vehicles help your entire team avoid Kardud by just tapping everything (and then the vehicle crews itself)
I love my goad deck and yes it's a problem. But then I've learned to just goad the other players into killing the vehicle dude.
The one thing i dont understand is: why tf is the effect of crestung mosasaurus on a blue dinosaur. All the popular dino commanders do not have blue in their color pie

Again, I don't get why they did not just limit Ghalta's ability to "when you cast her". I don't mind if you get the ability by casting her from graveyard or the command zone, but why would anyone allow this effect to trigger by cheating her into play or even blinking her?!

I put it in 9 of my 13 decks. It’s not at all just for tribal, as you said. Played it in my atla yesterday and went nuts. Just a second harmonic prodigy which is basically an auto include.
It's definitely nuts. Miirym is insane with this card. Automatically comes in and creates two extra copies of itself, then you just play any other dragon and it's ggs in no time. If you really wanna be spicy, play scourge of valkas and straight up win the game

I dont realy get the Hype about Ghalta, just playtestet it a bit and already cut it again from my Dino List because you never have many Creatures left in your hand when your able to cast one for 8 Mana.
The new ghalta is mid at best.
I think she's much better AS a commander rather than in the 99. She's just not very good unless you cheat her in and already have a big hand
Gishath tends to get hands clogged with big expensive dinos after a while, probably best in that deck.
Draw cards equal to power of greatest creature you control. Draw 6 - 10 cards. Play ghalta, dump 6 - 10 creatures onto the battlefield.
Going to try her in Yeva. Tend to keep a full hand and the ability to flash her in at the end step right before my turn is pretty great since then I get that attack right away.
