I'd settle for like a 30 second to one-minute roasting, but a lot of the low-tier commanders are just plain boring.
I'm fine with them skipping, especially if their internal stats tell them that most of us skip or speed thru that part

I prefer the ranking every commander but i understand the time and work investment is excruciating.
You don't want to add damage doublers to Axonil. The other player gets to pick the order of the replacement effects so they will just pick axonil's last. The deck SLAPS though.
Went to post this exact same thing. Doublers/triplers, Tolbran, etc are not really synergistic in the deck, just merely backup pieces for when your god is face down.
@@riotxcore6108 the deck I brewed uses tons of pingers and burn spells. One pinger does 3 of the 4 damage. I find it extremely easy to flip Axonil over so I don't even bother slotting a backup commander.

also Indomitus Rex can't be the coolest dinosaur because it doesn't have anything from Triceratops, the actual coolest dinosaur.

Huatli WRECKED. The commander dinosaurs have been waiting for, you got Stampede Ghalta and Gishath as the secret commanders depending on board state and the saga is awesome. Everything has answers but I had a blast with her.
Anyone planning on making an Ojer Axonil deck, keep in mind that when you're modifying damage with replacement effects, the player being affected is the one that decides the order that the math takes. For example, say Ojer Axonil has two +1/+1 counters on it, you have a Gratuitous Violence on the field, and you ping an opponent for 1. The person being damaged by your effect can elect to double the ping to 2 damage, then replace the damage with Axonil's power, for a total of 6 damage, rather than to replace the damage with Axonil's power (6), then double it to 12 damage.
Top 15 was wayyyy better than ranking every commander and speaking to each one. I also can’t imagine how much time that saved as well, great vid!
I just built an indominus Rex deck and it’s seems pretty powerful. I added lots of creatures that have keyword hexproof and indestructible. I added lots of board whiles as well. Then I have multiple ways to give it infect or a way to double its power and toughness. It’s been really fun doubling counters for the card draw and just wiping everyone’s creatures!!!
I also like the desparking of the "now" planedcrawlers. They never should have been limited to the way they are. But I do like walkers in limited amount. Keep them a special thing.
I don’t think Blue (and Owen) are particularly exciting, but I was surprised to hear y’all say it seems hard to put counters on Blue. Temur has a strong smattering of keyword counters that Blue can hand out so well! Agent’s Toolkit provides four different ones by itself!
Blue seems like a fun jank build, Slippery bogbonder for a hexproof counter!
I wanted to point out that damage doublers and tripllers don't work with Ojer Axonil because the effected opponent will get to apply the replacement effect they want to first. So they would double or triple the damage first then apply the 4 from Axonil taking only 4
The player whos turn is it decides the order of the triggers. So as long as you are dealing damage in your turn with Ojer, you decide the order.
@@diegoperezsommariva2509 that is not correct when it comes to replacement effects. When dealing with multiple replacement effects the affected player gets to decide how they apply and resolve.

Gonna add the red god in my Urabrask deck for sure, freaking insane, 4 dmg per spell just from Urabrask alone.

These gods are great especially since even if they're on the land side you still get all effects that care if you control a commander

No because it doesn't have suspend/vanishing
I did the maximum math on Axonil and End the Festivities. With Torbran, Solphim, Urabrask, Guttersnipe, Urabrask, Fiery Inscription, Gimli Counter of Kills, Electrostatic Field, gfirebrand archer, mechanized warfare, Chandra Hope's beacon, Twinferno, City on Fire, fiery emancipation, and Dictate of the Twin Gods all on the field does a maximum of 28.2k. Because the opponent can choose the multiplier, this number is realistically 2016 (4*7)*72, which is still extreme overkill
I like the new format of talking about only the best commanders, one thing I would change is perhaps talking about every precon commander + the top 15 if the precon ones happen to not be in the top. I really wanted to hear your thoughts about them!
They may talk about it at some point. There are a lot of magic CZcamsrs and articles taking about them/ranking them if your interested in hearing more about them. Articles on tcgplayer, tolarian academy has a video, etc.
The more I look at Axonil the more I like it...if I give Axonil +X+X until end of turn the text still applies right? So fun

the best way to describe aclazotz is, the most fun you have playing it as a sadist but turn sad when you fight it. Also maybe aclazotz himself might not be the strongest on its own, but bind him with cards like sangromancer, waste not and tinybones, then you got a powerhouse of a dude
I love how Axonil actually synergizes REALLY well with almost every other red god from the other Pantheons. Purphoros, Toralf, Hazoret, even Ilharg from Ravnica is nice if your exploiting etbs like Bogardan hellkite.
Red God with Nekusar seems pretty neat. One well placed wheel can mean certain death for a pod.
Aclazotz plays really well with one of my personal favorite Aristocrats pieces: Sadistic Hypnotist
Tetzin seems deceptively strong since it doesnt aay nontoken, so incubate tokens trigger him for each token
I've been having fun with Sovereign Okinec Ahau as a silly Hydra commander or any creature with 0/0 as base since they come into play with X +1/+1 counters that quickly get doubled in combat :P

Imo the best commander card in Ixalan isn't even a commander : it's Roaming Throne. It doesn't even need tribal to be busted.
I have 5 decks and it's OP in 3 of them : in Naban it counts as a sturdier version of Naban to double wizard triggers, in Kibo you get double +1/+1 counters when your opponents' artifacts go to the graveyard and destroy two artifacts enchantments when kibo attacks, and it's better still in Sefris which isn't even a tribal deck : you venture twice when a creature of yours goes to the graveyard and reanimate two creatures when you complete a dungeon. It's the sleeper OP rare of Ixalan

Missing the Fungus Pirate Human that combos with the kitchen sink. The most powerful commander and no one is talking about it.
The only way I could figure out how to use Ian Malcolm and not have it be completely terrible was to play him in a Jeskai deck as a secret commander, and play Drannith Magistrate and other stax pieces.

Edit: I completely understand not wanting to make a video ranking every single commander because I'm sure that would have taken significantly more time than this one, but I kinda wish that the Jurassic World cards got their own video. It was a little disappointing not seeing more of the actual legendary creatures from Ixalan, especially since most of us probably assumed that all of the Gods were going to take up a third of the list.

I still think Partner With commanders should be ranked with the partner.
You obviously can't do every partner combo for everyone with Partner or Friends Forever, but Partner With is a single specific pair.
Not doing that is like saying "Sliver overlord is a weak card because you might run a deck with no slivers in it."

I think the Gods Axonil and Tak don’t work with doublers because they are already replacement effects, so you choose whether to use the God’s effect, or another source.
Not only do the replacement effects override each other as you said, but your *opponent* gets to choose the order. Still good to have a backup in the 99, but that's all it'll be
As I read the rules (particularly 616.1f), both replacement effects can still apply, but the affected player chooses which applies first (this might make the other do nothing).
In the case of the red god, I believe that means that the opponent can choose to have the doubler apply first, which may result in his ability not happening (since the doubler likely makes the damage more than his power), but with the white god, it should still work with anointed possession (similar to how it works with mondrak, or how doubling season works with vorinclex).
Not quite. The person or owner of the permanent being affected by a replacement effect chooses how the effects are layered. Obviously for you, you can choose the best option for you, making Tak work just fine with all the other bonus token effects. Axonil is tougher since your opponent will likely select an order that is worst for you, causing the variety of effects to basically not work.

Does it bother anyone that they took the exact likeness of the Jurassic Park actors but they didn't with LOTR. The look of those actors in those rolls was super iconic, and if they can do it for JP then why not lord of the rings? I always assumed they weren't allowed to use direct rips of the characters faces for art, but then this set comes along. Now that I'm thinking it through, they did 1 to 1 on the walking dead as well. Why did they deprive us of Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, and Viggo Mortensen if they were allowed to put them on the cards? I've made myself angry, pay me no mind.
Perhaps the lotr rights were more expensive. And I think its cool we get different faces for the lotr characters so that the movie ones dont monopolize that.
The walking dead also had direct likenesses as well. I think it's probably a variety of issues that they couldn't use the direct likenesses
The LotR cards were based on the books, not the movies. There were no "likenesses" to use from the original source material. As great as the movies are, there's tons in the set that simply doesn't exist in them.
@@foxoninetails_ Books don't really have likeness, a couple physical attributes here and there but actual appearance is hard to put to words. I've read the books and I don't think the portrayals came from there. I think its pretty clear that its the artists taking creative license. That's totally fine mind you, but I wonder why then they didn't do that with Jurassic park or the walking dead. I feel like if you are going to go off-script for one art cycle, it shouldn't be some of the most iconic castings ever put to film.
@@slaysfordays3197for the walking dead, I couldn't tell you. Maybe they didn't wanna use the books' representations. As for Jurassic Park, there really isn't any other representation to base off of, so thats probably why they went with the straight rip

The white God should be no where near the top, its not unique, coolness, artwork and "Fun" are very subjective, and its only powerful of you can manage to keep it on its front face long enough to benefit. It will be fine in the 99, but when you have Mondrak and Anointed Procession already in white is the redundancy of Ojer Taq really necessary? Also if your playing in GW tokens then you also have doubling season and Parallel Lives. Plus this one is 6cmc so if you playing this in something like white weenie, then you have to play this then next turn generate a bunch of tokens then hope to play your finisher the turn after.
Asd started already this only doubles your creature tokens so in a way its not even as good as all the doublers that see any token being created.

Can confirm it's absurdly strong. You're consistently attacking with it on ~turn 4 when everyone only has little weenies and you spew out a Galta or Kodama (East) or Vorinclex etc. 3 for power level is so far off.

Im genuinly sad about Aclazotz. I think the art/concept behind it is awesome, however it kinda sucks. It's basically forcing you yo play anti-fun cards and mass discard to get any decent value. The back side is pretty weak and the conditions/costs of transforming it are just too much. It''s pretty rare for players to have only one card. It's much, much worse than other cards of this type from the set where those conditions are just very simple to do. Like for example attacking with 3 creatures in token deck? Or having 10 permanents? Like really? What's easier? Having 10 permanents in green deck or bringing someone down to 1 card or less?
The condition to flip the land back into the God is probably balanced for standard, where grindy games tend to see players get low-handed. Sucks for commander but it's already not a fun deck anyway (mono hand attack players don't usually like) so I think that the printed version is about what I'd want from the card
You don't HAVE to play anti-fun my friend. Its commander.
@robertocasco2967 well with mono black discards either you design the deck not to be oppressive but then it is bad and the player doesn't have fun or you design it to be effective and the rest of the table doesn't have fun because they don't have cards to play. Mono black discard almost always is anti fun for someone

Oker kaslen is NOT a power 3c hes very strong, put any land and any creature for free is very strong
Not sure if you're aware of this but you cannot proliferate time counters on cards in exile. Only permanent and players
I think I prefer just like a top list over ranking all. Not just because it’s half the length and effort but like I think the taking like random shitty uncommons that are legendary for limited or standard play and not intended for commander and going “Actually these are TERRIBLE commanders” is super obnoxious for commander channels to do.

@@dancarne5501 Just need to give it persist, but I feel like this could be a very powerful deck if you build it around just getting your combos out. Even if you aren't combining, two dragon's approach in one turn get your commander to lethal power.
