I'm Australian and I usually switch over between watching Nfl and Afl, it's great because the Nfl season starts and finishes in the Afl's off season so they don't overlap each other.
I'm form México and I'm glad for stay awake until 4am to see this, this is my first complete AFL season, this sport is simply awesome, the action, the dynamics, the crowd ambient, is much better than soccer

Collingwood showed us something in this game which we didn’t really think they could do, they won by more than a goal and they played all 4 quarters to the fullest, they look like a really scary team to play against if they are going to play like that every game.

As an American fan of the AFL, I’m pretty dang proud of Mason Cox. It’s not an easy game to get really good at when you don’t grow up playing it. (Or even when you do.) He’s kept at it and is starting to have an impact at the highest level.
Nice to hear other nations are getting into this sport. You know Mason Cox is American? When he is on, he is hard to stop

I'm a rugby union and league supporter, my partner is a true collingwood supporter and she was proud of last night's win. I'm starting to enjoy watching afl and I like watching the Collingwood team like the same colours as the mighty All Blacks 😊

Massive credit to the Pies! They worked so much harder than the Cats did and ultimately overwhelmed us in the end. They have a game style that stacks up. Going to be right up there once again this year
I think both teams will be near the top by end of season. Geelong weren't fit enough, and had a few crucial injuries which increased the load on the team. It's the last 14 rounds which really count, and that is what Geelong focuses on with regard to peak fitness. Congrats to the Pies for their tenacity and endurance. They'll find it harder next go vs the Cats. Also, best wishes to Jeremy Howe, hope he has a speedy recovery and will continue to provide fans with brilliant high flying marks.

Too many teams have been over hyped this pre season whereas Collingwood have again been underestimated by many, even after round 1 it’s plainly evident. I’m not sure why, their very best is close to unstoppable and i actually think they will be even better this year than last, Geelong looked slow and bamboozled last night. Long long way to go though

This was an amazing match, I was disappointed as a Cats fan but I wish Collingwood the best of luck for the premiership.
Fair play though. But Geelong will get another shot at Collingwood in Round 21. By then I hope both the Pies and the Cats go at it to determine who finishes Top Seed. I rate Geelong highly like last year. But I placed them as the Second Seed this year. Then again, plenty of footy to play before the real business clicks into gear.

What a result and performance - beating the reigning Premiers to start the year! This team has so much spirit and character and are a joy to watch. It may only be Round 1 but I can say with confidence the Pies are contenders in 2023.

Such an exciting game. What a comeback from Collingwood. They're better than last year. Pendles was outstanding!! So too the Daicos bros, and the defenders. Tom Mitchell & Bobby Hill brilliant in their debuts, Reef McInnes was magnificent when he came on. The only downer was Howe's nasty injury. The way the Pies play fearlessly, and the way they push forward and the angles they get, is so entertaining. Crowd was electric. What a game for Round 1. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Credit to Pies, a deserved win. As a life long Cats fan I'm hoping they can learn something from that loss. The Cats were three goals ahead several times yet poor mid field defense and a couple of errors caused by panic let them down. Both teams will be hard to beat this season.
This loss will serve as a good hunger check for them. They'll definitely come roaring back with a vengeance later down the road
.... And I'm sure having 3/4 of our premiership backline out doesn't help.
The highlights of this game where amazing. If only Geelong didn't go goaless in that last quarter as then it would've been contender for best game of the year already.

To be fair it wasn't consistent. Some of it looked settled and some looked a bit 'band aid'.

The surface was to blame for the injuries, but no-one ever said it was the reason for the loss. You've made that distinction yourself.
Going to be difficult for Geelong in the coming weeks as they already had half their premiership backline out injured and now they've lost Stewart (AA) and potentially De Koning too.

The title of this video doesn’t do it Justice whenever Collingwood and Geelong play each other. But as ecstatic to see the Pies start the season off with a win over the reigning premiers, I am dead certain that the Cats will bounce back against Carlton next week. One night after we got a very low-scoring thriller, we got a high-scoring game. Unfortunately, it didn't end up being close and it was seriously marred by injuries by Tom Stewart (rolled ankle) and Jeremy Howe (broken arm), the latter of which I even had to look away from. My thoughts and prayers are with those two people and their families. I wish them both a speedy recovery.
As for the game itself? I was impressed by Geelong's offense and accuracy in the first three quarters, only to be let down with just five behinds in the fourth quarter, but how Collingwood came back was amazing.
Carlton look to pile more misery on defending champions Geelong next Thursday night while Collingwood host Port Adelaide for the Saturday afternoon rematch.
Collingwood won but as usual they had to do it the hard way with geelong getting alot of goals from frees and 50 meter penalties

It was funny seeing the Umps do their best for Geelong in the first 3 quarters must be something to do with the MCG “home” games. Glad they gave it up in the 4th quarter, this just shows what would’ve happened in the Qualifying final last year if things were fair. And little Ollie Henry forever became Darcy Moores bitch with that play, whatever he does for the rest of his career everyone will always remember that.

It actually baffles me. Someone at the AFL has had to think about this decision and come to the conclusion that this is the way to go, and many other multiple people would've had to agree. How the hell could any adult think this works better? They seem to be confused about what platform this is and who watches these videos. These titles are targeted towards TikTok children. They've decided to confuse things so a few more children can consume it. Incredibly stupid.

To be honest it was really strong defending for three quarters from geelongs back line with two key defender out so that sours the great win by the pies but let's still respect the pies fight and willingness to strive for success. Bobby hill was a good purchase I'm sure he will be a live wire in the pies forward line. Go pies...
As a Geelong fan biggest diff was pies recruits were outstanding. Could make the difference for them this year.
