    Overall great insights into the performance management territory.
    The desire to translate strategy into actionable tasks on an operational level really needs to be further decomposed.
    Small organisations in the African setting tend to struggle to translate vision, missions and company values to their employees.
    In some instances, you would find that the companies themselves do not have a vision, mission and values from which strategy is rooted.
    I believe the managing performance territory needs to take such organizations into account (as variations to practise). The challenge becomes, how do you reconcile the fact that a company does not have a clear strategic outlook, yet expect employees to perform at a certain level (usually very high and unrelated to any benchmark). Issues such as these invoke organisational cultural literature in particular, the work of Hofstede's culture compass, in particular, high PDI environments in which the employees are unable to question those in authority.
    The key note for executives is that employees will perform should the right level of inputs and processes permit. The framework in the above video is everything that needs to be implemented and followed up upon in order to raise performance levels, especially in small to medium scale enterprises in which HR issues are not as rigorous and standardized like in more established companies with stand alone HR or perhaps OCD practitioners.

      My personal observation is that HR has a critical and strategic role to play in providing a conducive environment for Performance Management. However, the state owned enterprise tend to relegate the HR function to the back-burner, and allow things fall apart. Performance Management requires best practice people management practices, to function properly, and this is the role of HR to play.

    Great video, great graphics, great subject. A lot of focus on strategy and the feedback , control and monitoring systems. Where do the people focusing, training, consequence and reward management systems come in?

      IDOKO OGALA For me this part of (people) performance is a separate layer on top of this story. You need to develop skills of people and create a culture in your organisation in order to be able to run it in such a way that this machine really starts turning. Rewards can be connected on different elements: having the right attitude and having contributed to the change in attutide in your organisation; having reached your targets,; having contributed to knowledge to facilitate parts of your process in the organisation and so on...

    • @JMennens
      @JMennens  Před 8 lety

      +Jose Torquato It could be translated if somebody translates the sentences in Brazilian Portugese :-). I have no PPT, becayuse it was completely created in videoscribe. If I would create a PPT I 'd have to start over completely, or use screenshots, and mask the English sentences with The language wanted. I did create a large PDF version, maybe you can use that?
