the fact that aztec olrox also have an aztec lizard transformation is so extra! the design team was exceptional!
Is Quetzalcoatl the Feathered Snake and god of wind, he is the one who created this humanity out of his own blood according to some folk tales.
They did a good job showcasing mystical elements from very under-represented cultures. Both African and Aztec mythology are represented in the series.
And bonus points for not hitting you over the head with it. They let you appreciate the emotional and cultural contours of those religions, but not expo-dump a billion things on you not relevant to the story. That's a hard balance to strike when people have seen every asian or western mythology represented on screen ( where you can just show a cross or a Katana and we get it ). We haven't really been exposed to the others at all but we can at least get a sense of what they are about.
@@swordarmstudios6052 exactly I'm Mexican and I felt really flattered by the representation portrayed through Olrox, even subtle details like the obsidian blade are so accurate in the drawing aspect, and relating the fact that prehispanic gods were a sort of vampires since according to the myths they needed blood to survive it was just a brilliant display of creativity from the writers.
If only the writing team were as good. This will be a mess of garbage like last season was.

I like the subtle respect in the fight though between both Julia and Olrox here. Julia may be a part of the Belmont bloodline, but she shows no sign of arrogance when facing Olrox because she knows he's not an average vampire to slay. As for Olrox, he not only allows Richter to live because it was only his mother he was after, but you can see he steps over Julia's body instead of on it as he leaves, which to me implies he found her to still be a very formidable opponent.
Respect is 1 of the keys.
Him stepping over her is both a sign a "respect" and dismissal, he hates her for killing someone important to him but has no illusion that their confrontation is a one sided affair, he know Richter will come for him and he respect the act of vengeance.
It is a subtle but deep characterization, it made clear that he is a deliberate hunter, not a beastial bumpkin vampire, he respects his quarry as much as he hates them.
I love how your generation reads so much into these things.

The reason Trevor was so good as a vampire hunter was because he didn't usually have anyone to protect during a fight, the only times he did were in season 1 and even in that time, sypha had to help, then in the final season when he fought raatko and he almost lost that fight too, vampire hunting is best done when the only ones you're worrying about during the fight can take care of themselves
True, but vampires could pop up at ANY TIME. It’s not like they could say “hey can you wait a minute, I have my kid with me, and couldn’t find a babysitter. Thanks.” Especially strong vampires. It’s time to fight, it’s time to fight.
This clearly shows why Richter was the strongest of all the Belmont clan, this event will mold him in the powerhouse he will become in the future.

In fact the strength of a Belmont is measured by their descendants since Leon, as Trevor was stronger, then Christopher, Soleil, Simon, Juste, then Richter and finally Julius. It is officially said that since Leon, each of his descendants grew stronger than their predecessor. Heck, Simon could be considered stronger because he defeated Dracula without Magic and did it twice, the 2nd time with a debilitating curse. But here's the catch, with each resurrection, Dracula also was resurrected stronger than before, so Julius at 18yrs old, eliminated, not beat, KILLED Dracula ultimately at his strongest.
I love how the bead of sweat runs down Julias face before the fight starts! Which to me shows she knows firsthand how extremely powerful Olrox is.
I think she knows about Olrox's power, since she most likely fought him before, but she was a little nervous since Richter was there. She seemed pretty confident in the fight.

His mother was a total badass. Unfortunately this fell in the oldest situation in the book... the kid stayed too long, if Richter had gone to the boat I think she could won, that must eat him up inside.
The Belmont really are the ultimate vampire hunters, even the top of the top vampires have problems fighting them.
But man... seeing Julia actively using magic in her fight style is AMAZING, if things keep like this this series will be AWESOME.

Correct me if I'm wrong cuz I'm not a castlevania expert or anything but I believe Belmonts had magic before Sypha. If I'm recalling correctly, the Belmonts sealed the door to their hold with magic, and sypha had to use an enchantment to open it in season 2

She was very strong and Richter will be like her but on steroids and full of hatred and pain.

I love how the music instantly sets us up for the inevitible. Even though she seems to be gaining ground on him for most of the fight, the sense of dread persists beginning to end.
No one usually comments on the music, but yes, as obvious as it was at how this was going to play out, it was actually the music that gave it away for me... it sounds so heroically sad.
I love how Olrox wanted to give the young Richter a fighting chance to one day take revenge properly as a strong warrior. Olrox is so interesting I wonder what his role will be in the Vampire Messiah campaign during the French Revolution. He seems to be a different type of Vampire who genuinely differentiates between his food and enemies: Olrox treated Julia as a worthy opponent, not food. Olrox is a definition of a Vampire with standards and a code of conduct. It is likely Olrox waited long enough for Julia to prepare Richter's safe passage to France before killing his enemy and giving Richter the fire he needs to continue the Belmont legacy. In addition, Olrox steps on Julia's blood but not her body, showing he only hates Julia for being part of the Belmont lineage but not the woman herself. Nevertheless, he respects the Belmonts and the fire in them.
That’s because he knows if Ritcher wasn’t there this fight could have gone ever way. Plus the Belmont have fought powerful creatures of the night
I think all that Olrox wanted is for Richter to suffer the same loss he suffered, or otherwise perpetuate a sick cycle of vengance. We got to remember vampires in the castlevania universe are inherently evil, there's no goog guy vampires, and the only one who is, is half human (No, Dracula doesn't count as a good guy, his definition of grief and coping is killing all life on Earth)

Today is my mother’s birthday. It’s been about 2 yrs since she passed. I’ve been heavy hearted all day. I remembered this season was releasing this week and started watching today. Someone starts singing on the second episode and it broke me down into some much needed tears.
I’ve been trying so hard not to think too much about it because it feels overwhelmingly heavy. But the song force me to take a moment and have a much needed emotional purge.
It’s almost poetic to me that my absolute favorite fictional series played a part in helping me grieve the passing of the one so special to me. R.I.P mom. 💔🕊️

I hated him for what he did to Julia in the beginning but after i learned of his motivations behind the act i came to forgive him and he's pretty much my favorite character on the show now.
It's also implied he waited for the Mother to make sure Richter had a way out, in this case France. He waited before attacking, and also made it clear he only killed her because she killed his love and still fought with respect. He is quite composed

I know Trevor probably retrieved the vampire killer after the battle at the castle, the last time we saw it he lost it to that vampire magician, hence why the Belmonts still have it, but I wonder what happened to the morning star, it may have been sucked into the infinite corridor along with Trevor.
Look at it this way, without the vampire killer, Christopher Belmont and Simon Belmont would not have beaten Dracula in the 300 years between Trevor and Richter.

If you mean their kids then yes, since Juste, Julia, and Richter are born many years later. But Trevor and Sypha have been dead for 300+ years. Juste trained her.
Watching Julia use magic and her skills with weaons, a beautiful fusion as a descendant of Trevor and Sypha.

I don't know it doesn't seem very promising. The writing isn't the same and the characters presented aren't on par with the original series. Maybe that's just me.
@@a.hassanhale3326not just you, in my opinion the show gave Annette way too much screen time and flashbacks before properly introducing her, however this only happens in the first 3 episodes, the rest of them (especially 6 and 8) are on par with the original (in my opinion)
To me, animation 10/10, but I felt the writing becoming meh over the course of episodes. I didn't like the main antagonist, (her design, her motives, and the final cliffhanger felt like pure fan service to make up for this writing, and I felt that whereas this cliffhanger is actually kind of lore accurate

Man Castlevania just continues to get better and better. Im beyond impressed with how they continue to stick with what made me fall in love with this show in the first place with its amazing storytelling, character development and not to mention how beautiful this animation is. From the eye colors to the fighting scenes, voice acting everything is done so perfectly.
Side note: I love the exchange between Olrox/Juila seems as if they both have been waiting for this moment knowingly that they were bound to cross paths again at some point. Definitely set the tone right out of the gate I’m in NO rush to finish this season!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Damn this clip sets up the entire series perfectly. The characters, the artwork, the music, the acting, the dialogue, the plot- if the rest of it is as compelling, we be eating real good.

Every Parent's weakness and terror have always been their children just like how Jotaro's weakness is Jolyne when he against Pucci, while Julia's case is Richert. Villains always target such soft target during adults' fights but for Olrox, it's Richert's action that causes him to attack him and weaken Julia's focus. In the end, Olrox just leaves Richert and waits for him by becoming a vampire killer
I won't lie. But I was genuinely sad when Julia was killed. Her death was so heartbreaking. Even though we only see her for the beginning of this episode. And the fact that she was Richter's mother makes this all the more tragic and tear jerking. But I will say this for Julia; she fought well, and died bravely.
Looks really stunning . The animation is peak perfection , the voice acting is top notch . Castlevania Nocturne is going to be a big hit . I can't wait to watch this show 🦇🦇🦇🦇 .

From this tragic experience, young Richter learned three important lessons;
1. You must never get cocky, especially when faced with an enemy.
2. The death of a loved one (especially of a parent) is extremely devastating and painful.
3. Fighting vampires and demons is not fun and games; its a matter of life and death. And if you don't take it seriously, you will surely die.
The first 7 minutes of this fight scene was an epic bad ass for a lifetime! 🙂💪🏻

So Richter flat out killed his mum. His girlfriend is a mystic knight vampire hunter who doesn't need saving. His intrepid little cousin is old enough to join in the fight on equal footing. The maidens he's saving have magic... Other than being the protagonist of the game and important to the next game why is Richter even in this? Stripping him of his opportunity's for heroics, removing his motivation for getting involved at all, and now this character assassination... has our boy not suffered enough?
At least Simon or god help me Gabriel do not have to suffer this indignity.
I'm pretty sure that being a Belmont (A vampire hunter clan) and having his mum killed by a vampire are two good motivators for him.
@@kotorandcorvid4968 Difficult to argue that point in universe but from an audience perspective Belmont or not motivations you can see through aren't really compelling, even his save the damsel in distress/girlfriend motivate from the game was stronger than that and fit his heroic character better.
He got his mum killed, that is on him, not that two-bit vamp. The vampiric soul of Sara inside the vampire killer whip sapping at her non belmont lifeforce wasn't even slowing his mum down. She clearly could have handed that mini-boss his ass if lil richter didn't get involved. She wasn't even a Belmont her husband Juste, Richter's father, is the Belmont in the family.
By splitting the character agency so far netflix likely fleshed out the narrative potential of the other cast members. But with all the changes they've made to the story and characters, wouldn't you agree netflix have sort of made the protagonist obsolete in his own story?
being a main character doesnt mean others have to suffer in characterization. The story is being told from his perspective doesnt mean hes a superhero

I strongly believe a focal protagonist should be a main focus of the story so that we can follow their perspective instead of literally anyone else's, however based on the information that has been made public thus far, it seems that every other character has greater story significance and justification for being in the narrative. Since she can now save herself, Richter is no longer motivated to save his girlfriend. Because the other kidnapped maidens now possess magic and can engage in combat on an equal footing with Richter, he is not required to take up the task of helping his bright brave and bold tween cousin save them from the vampires. Simply put, it appears that he was merely left in so that Symphony's heel turn could still occur.
That came across a bit too critical. What I mean is difficult to articulate here; as an example, consider disaster films. The narrative follows the character or characters who survive(s) the longest rather than the character or characters who pass away a third of the way through the story. Flash Thompson is not the focal point of view character in Spider-Man movies, just as the Titanic did not follow the person who struck the propeller when the ship split. The characters who have the most fascinating stories are the ones who are the focal point of view protagonists, and Richter's story lacks the components that would make him fit to be a protagonist, dueteragonist, or even tritagonist. These types of anime are the best in my opinion, music, story, dialogues everything hits hard.
Love how the choreography for Belmont includes magic now as well as physical combat, almost like ATLA. Also exciting to see a boss monster a la Castlevania games; I expected Carmilla to go into her in-game final form in og series
But how? Carmila in this series is dead from four season Castlevania. I don't know is Castlevania universe have rebirth or any rise from the dead because I didn't know games on whom based all Netflix series. But in games Dracula always rebirth or he is undying?

Welll, compared to the first season the animation is mid. Still carries the other sub-par aspects of the show but still 6/10 in art, 3/10 in the other departments.

Olrox only killed Julia out of revenge for her killing his lover. If she never did that, he wouldnt have hunted her down. Him sparing richter makes sense cause richter didnt wrong him. Yeah it leaves a potential enemy down the road but if we got revenge in someone who wronged us, would we honestly harm their children knowing they had nothing to do with it.
@@hidan407 I can't say much because I watched the first episode and chose to not continue watching. I'd say that a merciless killer would have to logically get everyone out of the picture. Especially when it's a Belmont who could pose a threat because he will be an obstacle later on. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt; perhaps Olrox does have an ethical code to abide by. Even if he's a villain.
Again, I don't know is he is a villain. Didn't really watch the show.
