I feel like if the USA had Horrible Histories, they’d be a little better at word geography and history. This was better than school.
They did have it but they ruined it, there was a short animated series in the early 2000s and surprisingly the male character is voiced by the same person who voices Philip j fry in futurama.
The real British version is currently available on Prime video and on Hulu in the US. I watch it frequently and I am an adult.
Owen Fautley Oh I remember that version. I have a soft spot for it. Not as good as the live action sketch comedy obviously. But I feel like they had no budget and it was a decent premise for an educational kids show.

It’s so much funnier when you’re British because it mimicks a lot of our adverts and tv programmes , “bang! And the dirt is gone!” From sillit bang advert lol
I just couldn’t resist having a look for Minty Badger, and she really did exist! I think her first name could have been Aminta, but she does come up as “Minty” on the 1861 census, living with her mum and dad (who had normal names - Samuel and Elizabeth!).
She used the name Minty when she married Richard Large, in Warwickshire, in 1866, so I suppose she became Minty Large? They had five children, but I think maybe he died because she shows up again as Aminta in 1876, marrying Charles Garner . . . then he died and she married Frederick Rawbone in 1893. So Minty Badger ended up as Minty Rawbone - and didn’t die until she was 94, in 1938!

Yeah, Victorians also used children to run under cotton weaving machines to clean up any cotton that fell on the floor. Also used them to repair problems with the machines, typically the machines kept running in both cases while the child was underneath. A lot of children wound up receiving horrific injuries from these machines which was part of why child labour was abolished.

I wasn't a kid or even a teen when this came out, but I did watch a lot of it anyway just because I read the books as a kid and loved them (not sure if people know it was a book series, though the sketches in the show aren't the same as the comic book ones, they do their own thing with it, but the art, name and style are all the same as the books were). Mary 1! Good Queen Bess! Jimmy, Charles and Charles again!
Jim, Will, Mary, Anna Gloria, George, George George George....
I am Brazilian, and I got to know this show for kids around 2013. At first I watched it on TV because I liked history, but it ended up catching me, much more, for making me laugh. A long time ago a TV show of humor did not do me as well as this show managed to do. (Detail: I am an adult woman, and I have no children.) It is a fantastic show: it teaches you, and makes you laugh, even if it is about your "misfortunes" (in this case, the history of mankind.)
Certainly all folks love humor, and comedy is something universal, but Americans and Britons are just brilliant at it - there is no nation that can beat all you about this, I think.
Anyway, you are completely crazy, 😂
The Fleet river still exists, sort of, it's underground now.
"every British woman reminds me of Katherine Tate" well to be fair both times you said it it was the same woman
Just a shame she's not in HH
The wuthering heights parody was so funny
Martha is funnier than Catherine Tate. It is the red wig she wears. Martha Howe Douglas looks less like Catherine Tate with her own blonde hair.
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD I'M 20 AND I STILL WATCH IT ON NETLFIX 😭
when your feeling shit it's just a feel-good TV and to laugh at xx
Yeah, I think everyone does tbh😂😂
11:11 essentially all of us who grew up between 1998 and 2015 (I think that's when the show stopped airing. I at least haven't seen it for 5 years and I'm 17, so the maths checks out)
I’m in my 40s and watched this with my daughter at the time we both loved it!! Still do! I probably learned more from that show than at school! Brilliant show 😊👍🏻
I’m a simple gal... I see horrible histories in the title, I click
Ok, I’m from the UK and I watched it when i was a kid and I gotta say- IF YOU DIDNT WATCH IT, IM SORRY BUT YOU MISSED OUT
I watched it because it was was always on
I watched it and years later I used what I learned from it and some other stuff in my history lessons
YESSIR I would love to go back to the time when I would feel genuine joy when seeing horrible histories was on I feel so old and I’m only 16 it’s weird man
YESSSSSS
I still watch it 🤣🤣🤣
Horrible Histories has a longer legacy than you might think. It's based on a book series of the same name. Most people who were kids in the 90's have never seen the show (we were too old for the target audience when it debuted) but we remember the books very fondly. There were also spin-off books about science and geography which were great too.
the shouty man skit is a reference to the cillit BANG adverts, you know the ones. the barry scot ones where he shouted so annoyingly loud he got tons of people to refuse to buy the product out of spite
