    ----
    WHO IS JIANG YU SHAN:
    Jiang Yu Shan (Hisham Al-Haroun) has lived 30 years in Taiwan practicing Kung Fu and Qigong. He is most notably known for being the master of the monkey style but he is also a master in Tai Chi, Bagua Zhang, Wing Chun, Xin Yi Ba and Wu Zhu Quan.
    Jiang is a 33rd generation Shaolin disciple and has been nominated 9th Dan (or “Duan”) in Chinese Kung Fu. In addition, he comes from a wrestling family and is well-rehearsed in other martial arts such as catch wrestling (he has a good relationship with the notorious CACC Snake Pit in Japan).
    Not only that, Jiang also worked as a special forces (CMC.SCC) drill instructor for over 10 years teaching hand to hand combat, tactical raid, entry team tactics, knife fighting and hostage rescue to Taiwanese special ops. Before that he was an army paratrooper in the German military where he got his initial military education.
    Due to his respected status in Taiwan’s society and his high expertise in self-defence, he has served as a bodyguard for several Taiwanese presidents and presidential candidates. A foreigner working as a body guard for a president is extremely rare and unheard of in almost any country in the world.
    To test his martial arts skills and proficiency in practice, Jiang has competed in various kickboxing, Sanda, MMA and Karate competitions, winning 7 gold medals. His biggest victory was winning the All Japan Karate MMA competition 2016 in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 45.
    Jiang has 40 years of training in Kung Fu and has operated as a respected teacher since he was in his twenties. Now, he is a grandmaster who comes from very rare and pure lineages of Kung Fu and Qigong. This is why his teachings are not only very unique but also more effective than many of the commercial forms of Qigong or Kung Fu you see today.
    It’s our privilege and honour to showcase his skills to the broader audience. Enjoy!

    This gentleman is probably one of the very last teachers of pre cultural revolution Kung Fu in existence. I won't say Real Kung fu, because Wushu IS real kung fu, but it is practiced for performance. This Kung Fu is completely different than Wushu. It is Combat Kung Fu, taught by someone who has spent their life mastering it for that purpose. I have loads of respect for this man, and I hope he passes it on to someone who studies it the way he has and can pass it on. otherwise the art may be lost forever.

    As a former greco wrestler: actually, you do grip the wrist with the thumb in greco, preferably index and thumb around the wrist an the other fingers on the meat of the palm. Thumbless is mostly for upper arm and high forearm grips, on wrist it's mostly an option for 2-on-1 since it's slightliy quicker, but with the thumb you can twist the hand and lock the elbow in addition to the shoulder.

    Also notice how stupidly conditioned are his hands?

    • @MichaelBuieFilms
      @MichaelBuieFilms Před 3 lety +6

      Not so. Perhaps years to be proficient, but not decades.
      I learned Praying Mantis Kung Fu from my Master (maybe a three decades he studied) whose fingers felt like iron rods when he raked them up or down your rib cage. So, in that case he fits your assumption.
      But, I studied there a year before moving (in the Military), and I have studied with my current Kung Fu School about 3 years (1st Degree Black Belt there)
      During sparring, I used Mantis Fist striking at sparing partner's shoulder and he suddenly dropped low... my Mantis made contact with his cheek instead and ruptured a blood vessel in his eye... he had to go to Urgent Care. I wasn't even striking hard... just fast, so he could not intercept. Plus the strike is circular, so it got past his defense.
      Point being, we study enough physics to understand f=ma (Force = Mass x Acceleration). You don't need the mass of an entire fist to create damage. Acceleration is the key. And you achieve this by being completely relaxed until the point of impact. The other Style I learned from was Hsing I Chuan, or Mind Fist. Internal style, but it appears external, because it looks like hard impact. But, true mastery is to achieve soft and quick. Tension is at point of impact.
      We practice Eagle's Claws and Mantis Strikes on the Wooden Dummy. A year or so of this, you will gain some proficiency. But, fingers go to soft body parts like eyes, against the temple, into the Pressure points below the nose, the throat, groin... soft tissue areas.
      A Disciple who is dedicated can learn these techniques to the point of being useful after years, not decades.
      Take care.

      Different tools for different tasks.
      Options.
      Pushing or striking fingers into the eyes is a tried and proven pressure point technique.
      Pushing or striking anything fairly edgy into the throat is a tried and proven pressure point technique.
      Stabbing with a blade is a tried and proven pressure point technique.
      It becomes stupid when someone thinks that any one move is going to handle all problems though.

    • @tavor2099
      @tavor2099 Před 3 lety +1

      I have the theory that the pressure point thing began as a misunderstanding because is true there are parts of your body that always are going to be fragile like your eyes, throat ,ears,nose,groin etc. So probably that was teach as "no matter who you fight if you attack those parts you are going to do at least some damage" , thousand years past and the idea was twisted to "If you punch a guy in this parts he is going to fall in pain", another thousand years and now the idea is " If I touch you in this little point behind your ears I'm going to instant k.o. you" and because the idea sound so cool and mysterious traditional martial artists just rolled with that. After all even today the thing that separates a good martial artist and a legendary martial artist is how good they are at marketing themselves.

      Check out his Qigong, some of the methods are head and shoulders above what everyone is doing in movement training right now. The knowledge in movement is severely lacking with no proper understanding of either strength training or internal processes (qigong covering breathing, mind etc.).
      As for Kung Fu, a lot of it is very refined movement as well. It may not just be what you consider “movement” right now. Self-defense is extra we decided to do for the people who are interested in this kind of stuff. However we are returning to our typical content soon once we finish this Kung Fu / Qigong chapter for a while
