- Some old Carlton footage starting at the Cnr of Lygon & Princes St, then the sign on the fence 'Keep this backyard for the kids' was painted protesting before the 638 Lygon St 2 story red brick flats were built in 1981, the Carlton Bug house, the Red flats & the Woolpack hotel.
Ahh, finally, Gezza! The Carlton I remember as a kid.

It ended just as it gets to Melbourne State College (now part of Melbourne Uni). I went there in the 80's, They were the days.

@@brucekilby9957 the protest march is opposition to the Eastern Freeway that was planning/building at that stage. A banner out front of one of the houses says “Could you live 12 feet from a freeway?” I suspect the note painted on the fence is also part if this protest.

vinorob a variety of taped off the television, purchased/hired videos and dvds. Some like the end of this clip, our home movie footage. I have over 300 vhs tapes that are nearly 40 yrs old and 100s of dvds. Additionally I started a Facebook footy history footage trade swap page in 2015 that immediately unearthed some rare gems for many parties.

It was the protest in the 1970’s against the Eastern Freeway. Alexander Parade in Fitzroy, and Collingwood used to be a place where kids could kick a football, but then Vic Roads pushed for a freeway out to Doncaster. Bob Jane was the first person to drive on the freeway in his Mercedes.
