I was at this game. After the match a pair of young female Blues fans danced passed us songing "We're gonna win the cup, we're gonna cup. We're on our way to the MCG and we're gonna win the cup!" Well, two weeks later Hawthorn kicked the shite out of them on the GF. I suppose those young ladies had a sad day that day. Then again, theu beat us the next year and vanished into insignificance until 1995 while Hathorn won another three flags after the 1986. 1988, 1989, and 1991....wed have won in 1990 if not for injuries to key players. Quick trivia question: Who kicked five goals in the 1990 GF? A: Essendon. Useless mugs. Had Hawthorn played Collingwood in 1990 with a full, fit squad we'd have won four in a row. Oh well. Five flags from eight appearances from 1983-1991 was an amazing effort by the Hawks.

1:33 An old State Bank of Vic branch, before it was bought out by the Comm Bank. 1:46 The woman talking to herself about how things looked at that time. (Who also happened to have played Pat O'Connell in Prisoner). It's a classic example of how many people will look back and think about how much worse things are "nowadays", to what it was like when they were younger. It just proves that no matter what time period one lives in, it's ALWAYS the same thoughts. So people bagging out Melbourne in 2024, compared to what it's like back then, are no bloody different to how people saw things in Melbourne back in those days, compared to 50 years before then. And all those cars in the car park at the end of this video. I guess white paint was a popular colour for cars back in those days. 😜
