@cooperdn24 yeah, it's almost like they can upload a video, make it private, then release it.
4:40 Anyone HERE AFTER O.J. Simpson’s death ( † April 10th, 2024) ?!??!?
Please do a Special Top 25 greatest SpongeBob SquarePants moments to celebrate 25 years!
I lost my virginity in the 90s ❤
I’m surprised Columbine didn’t get a mention.
I guess because it was so close to the millennium.
Would get demonetized
I thought that was #1
They made the same list like 5 times it’s probably on another one
Or Selena’s shooting 😔😞
There are other notable events that should have been on this list e.g. the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Rwanda genocide, the murders of both Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. and the Columbine School Massacre.
Tupac did make the list.
I agree
@@randalmayeux8880 He was only mentioned in passing. Biggie wasn’t mentioned at all.
columbine didnt even make a difference in the US let alone the world
@@randalmayeux8880Tupac was named with Kurt Cobain…but the rivalry between Tupac & Biggie that ended tragically for both of them is what many of us call the death of hip hop…or the era when hip hop died. It deserved a mention separate from Cobain's because both instances had different causes.
I think they should have made this a Top 20 list. So many things happened in the 1990s.
An icon, a legend and a genius.
Ayrton Senna forever 🇧🇷
On the day of his passing 30 years ago.
roland ratzenberger died too 😢😢
I was awake watching the race live…I couldn’t grasp he didn’t just pull himself out and walk away
@@redsoxboi1And Rubens Barrichello almost met his maker the day before, as he swallowed his own tongue in a crash at Variante Bassa. Quick medical intervention by Professor Sid Watkins saved his life, and to this day, he has no memory of the crash.
Here is a few more I can name:
In February 1996 a British Airways Concorde broke the world record for the fastest transatlantic flight when it reached London from NY in only 2 hours, 52 mins & 59 secs, a record for supersonic flight.
In 1999 Manchester Utd after beating Bayern Munich in the CL final became the first English side to win the triple namely the Premier League, FA Cup and CL. This cemented Alex Ferguson as the greatest manager in Man Utd's history as well as British football.
In 1991 Freddy Mercury one of the best singers of his generation died.
In 1993 a toddler called James Bulger was kidnapped & murdered by 2 boys 8 years his senior (Jon Venables & Robert Thompson) in Liverpool in the most infamous murder case of the 20th century in Britain.
In 1996 Scotland witnessed it's most horrific massacre with the infamous Dunblane shootings which Andy Murray famously survived.
In 1991 Bangladesh suffered it's most deadliest moonson disaster when 135,000 people were killed.
Also in 1991 was the eruption of Mount Pinatubo one of the most deadliest eruptions in history.
Those first 2 are a joke right?
Great additions!
I was thinking of Freddy Mercury, too 😢
I still feel sad that Princess Diana Died from that Car Crash...
It was still a Tragic Event that still gives me a Heartache...😢
It’s one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were when you found out.
I remember I was watching SNL that night, and it cut off for the news announcement. All these years later I cannot forget that broadcast interruption.
All right already.. I said I was sorry...
OH! Sorry.. Got caught up there.. I still blame myself for that. Insane as it sounds.
Me and a mate were sitting up that night, blasting SNES games out. And we used to gas about anything and everything whilst playing. Well we got onto royalty as a subject. I then proceeded into a 30 minute diatribe about how the Diana creature was despicable for messing the royal family about. (and I'm no royalist fwiw. So you can only imagine how much I disliked her.) So I wished all manner of bad luck on her. As you do.
Woke up later that day and turned on the TV. Only to see the coffin carrying her body arriving back on UK shores from Paris. Went to put the kettle on. Saying to myself under my breath as I walked into the kitchen.. "Oops.."
My mate rang me a while later when he had seen the news. Asked if I had seen it. And proceeded to blame me for it.
I can't have special powers though. Because there would be quite a few other celebrities afraid to leave the house were that the case. Though I DID absolutely detest Michael Jackson.. Hmmmm...
The only Royal I ever cared about or was interested in. I shed a tear for her when the news broke.
@@islandthrifts809yes! My husband's ( then boyfriend )best friend got married on Saturday and I saw on the news about the accident and Sunday morning when I got the paper off the porch and on the cover it said PRINCESS DIANA DEAD.. I cried so much, I remember watching their wedding when I was 11.
Why do I think the 90's were only ten years ago? Appreciated this list.
Same 😂😂😂
Because time flies way too fast and everything is gone, before we know it. :)
And that's how this 2020s will go!
30 Years on & Ayrton Senna's Death (as well as Roland Ratzenberger's) Still Hurt, R.I.P. to 2 great F1 Drivers!😢
My family was watching Ayrton's last race while throwing my older brother's 3rd birthday party. Mom told me everybody was so gobsmacked by that tragedy no one could even think of singing "Happy Birthday"...
Oh wow 😮that definitely would have felt awkward but it was still a 3 year olds birthday my aunts is on 9/11 🤦♀️
@@dcrawford9258 My high school best friends bday is also on 9/11. I was at school when it happened and he was absent that day because he had gone hunting. He called me when he got home later that day and I had to try and explain to him what had happened. He thought I was messing with him until I told him to turn on the news.
@@StoffelDilligas edited 😅
The death of princess Diana still shocked me. I was 5 years old at that time and i Saw my mom watching Diana's funeral and after that She is start crying, i ask my mom why does She was crying on the person on that tv and my mom start tell me a story about Princess Diana, at first i don't understand why since i was a kid but my mom tells me that once i got older, i will understand why. And past forward 12 years later after her death, my history teacher at senior high school give me and other students a home work of doing research about a several historical figures and Princess Diana was one of those so, i did some little digging and asking my mom again about her, not to mention mom helped me a lot in my homework, and after that i starting to understand why Princess Diana death was mourned by so many back then as it turns out that She was actually beloved by so many and it hits me so hard that make me speechless as i learned more about it.
Princess DIana. It was around two in the morning where I was, and about to go to bed, when a crawler on top of the TV screen said that she'd been in a car accident, and that was all it said. I thought it wasn't serious because of that brief description, turned off my TV and went to bed. When I woke up at like 10 in the morning, and turned on my TV again as I've always done, there it was, breaking news live broadcast: Princess Diana had died, with the how and why, and the brutality of it. And it was so shocking.
Same, I saw it when my boyfriend and I got home from his best friend's wedding and found out she died when I got the Sunday paper off my porch.
I remember for me it was a Saturday night. At first, TV reported she was in a crash but had broken an arm and was okay. Then it was said she had a heart attack. Then it was said she died. The news changed so fast in a matter of minutes
Same. I thought it had to be a mistake. Brian Williams of NBC was how I found out. I couldn’t watch him for months.
It was around 8 pm, I was at work and my gram called me and said she was in a car accident, I was like, um ok…I didn’t know it was that serious and 30 mins later she called again and said she passed. That shocked me. I was very small when she got married, she was the fairly tail princess. I even had the lover knot tiara from the back of a paper doll book with s9 e of her most famous dresses up until that time. I would wear it and run around in a prom dress( a local designer sold off dresses really cheap and my gram bought them for me to play dress up). She was the people’s princess!
This got posted exactly at the same time as Netflix posted a teaser for a series about Ayrton Senna.
Which was so crass. I’ll watch it and then probably bitch about it.
I remember sitting in the living room at 9 years old watching the San Marino Grand Prix when Senna crashed this day 30 years ago.
I was inconsolable.
Sure you do
@@Dave-bj3pq odd response. Everything OK?
As a wrestling fan, I would have to include the tragic and preventable death of Owen Hart at Over the Edge 1999 in Kansas City Missouri.
I think if they had something like that they would have it titled as “10 moments from wrestling that made the world stand still”
They can include Owen Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Ultimate Warrior, Dino Bravo, Chris Benoit, Chris Candino, Sunny (she didn’t die but she fell off the deep end), Chyna, Vince McMahon scandal, the death of Brodie Lee/Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt suddenly passing away
@@maxpayne7312 Most of these are world events, but with the death of Ayrton Senna, I was expecting to see the death of Owen Hart, especially with wrestling's popularity in 1999.
@@serialmiller1987 maybe they kept it out cause there’s so many channels that have done the Owen Hart story from non wrestling fans and non wrestling channels so they left it out and went with ones that everyone has heard of
The non wrestling fans wouldn’t know who Owen Hart was they would figure he’s some guy who puts on a costume
@@serialmiller1987 Ayrton’s death caused days of national mourning.
Wrestling 😂
Princess Diana's passing will always be heartbreaking. 😢🎉
Haha you weren't even alive.
@@StanHalen1936 I was 2. 🎉
@@tylergoodman3560
I was 5 Y/O ( BORN IN AUGUST 1992 ) !!!
@@aleksandarvil5718 Cool. 😎🎉
Her murder really was tragic
I remember where I was during most of these events, except maybe the Formula 1 crash. From your list, I think the Oklahoma City bombing hit me the hardest. But one event that was not on your list is the April 20, 1999 Columbine shooting. That would have been my number 1.
30 years later and Senna’s death still hurts. Gone, but not forgotten.
As an Australian I would have had the Port Arthur massacre on that list for being the worst mass shooting at that time.
Yeah and the fact that it brought in major changes to our gun laws.
3:51 as a Brazilian, thank you for the correct portuguese pronunciation of his name. 30 years today.
Thanks for acknowledging Senna. Brazil has a serious "stray-dog" complex, where we want to play with the rich kids but can't keep up. Senna taught us that we could actually be the best without catering to others.
They must have added him just for Brazil people, because I've never heard of him.
@@deckzone3000 Formula 1 is popular all over the world, he’s definitely famous outside of Brazil.
Awesome job, I really enjoyed watching this.
Watchmojo, the "world" isn't the US. The top 3 weren't that big of a deal for the rest of the world.
The fact that the 1990s started with the ending of South African apartheid…and Nelson Mandela was elected as President a few years later definitely deserved a spot.
Magic Johnson's announcement of being HIV positive is another. The Rwandan genocide, the human stampede at the Lantern Festival in Shanxi, the collapse of the USSR, the D.C. snipers…
This list should have been expanded to 20.
Ayrton Senna IS THE GOAT
Legend
Icon
Where was Columbine? Shocked it wasn't even on the list. 🤔
Some of these shocked mostly in the US since other parts of the world were dealing with their own issues unknown to rest of the world
I will always remember where I was when the OKC bombing occurred, the death of Princess Diana, the OJ trial and Nancy Kerrigan's brutal assault.
Tell us, if you don't mind me asking.
The Bosnian War is not talked about enough !!! I’m from Quebec and I work with a woman who escaped Bosnia in 1995… so much horror :(
Atlanta Olympics 1996 was pretty shocking as well.
Rwanda should've made the list, at least as a honorable mention. Rwanda doesn't get talked about much.
Ironically, the Rwandan genocide was ignored by this list just like it was largely ignored when it happened
@@Zethonring23Preach. Frontline has a great, but BRUTALLY graphic documentary about it.
@@Jenny010132 that documentary broke my heart.
@@Zethonring23 The U.S. was scared that another Black Hawk Down was going to happen, that's one reason why nothing was done to stop it. If I'm not mistaken the genocide in Bosnia was going on the same time Rwanda was, look who got more attention.
We are heading back to the 90s
Don't get my hopes up.
Yeah...the 1890s
Before I finish the list, I’ll be surprised if the OJ car chase isn’t #1.
What? Only #6?
That or Princess Diana!
And I just hit number 8 ... how was she not closer to number 1 .... wow that's sad!
It has to be Littleton
I am shocked.
I’m pretty Surprised that Columbine isn’t on this List
Same! How did they miss that?
They said 10 moments not top moments
@@alyjay1088 it’s the same thing🤷🏻
I still say Tupac and Biggie’s deaths 6 months apart from each other were killed 6 months apart from each other . Due to that East Coast / West Coast beef
1 man: Suge Knight
Hard to believe it has been exactly 30 years since we lost Ayrton Senna
Ouuu u have to do another video! Columbine, Centennial Park and the World Trade Center bombing weren’t even mentioned but a lot has happened in the 90s! Can’t wait for part 2!🤞🏽🙌🏾
Diana's adult life was just a tragedy.
Just relived the '90s 🤯
April 29th to may 1st 1994 was a dark moment in F1
1996 School Shooting in Scotland
on may 1st... its been 30 years today that senna passed.... wow... just wow
I born in the 90s but those moments are shocking
What about Freddie Mercury's death? He's a rock legend and has impacted others. I know I wasn't born in the 90s (because I'm a Gen Z) but I've learned about the history of rock n roll and music itself and obviously history from the past.
About Senna´s death, I was 9 years old and still remember as was yesterday. One of the saddest days of my life, and so of many people here in Brazil...
As an American, not particularly interested in British royals, but the tragic death of Princess Diana shook me. Remember seeing most of this, even though I was working full time. I am surprised Columbine not on this list. I rarely watched boxing, but I actually saw the ear bite in real time and couldn’t believe what I just saw. Wow
30 years without Senna 😢
You should change the title to this... since only 4 story that made the world stand... the other video should have been 6 moments that made USA stand still. 2 wars, Senna and Princess Diana are the only one that was around the world.
Ironic that it was 30 years today since senna passed
6:16 my dad was 1 of the relieve drivers transporting aid to the area. When he arrived. The mayor of the town was in a suit, but torn and covered in dust and dirt as its the only thing he could find and wear
I remember when my uncle who was in the military called and told us about Operation desert storm, my dad NEVER answered the phone during dinner and he just happened to as we were getting ready to sit down.
After Sennas death Michael Schumacher raised his hands in victory and cheering, knowing Ratzenberger and Senna were killed. That was the death of my Fandom in F1. I never wanted to see Michael winning again. His many championships are tainted because of his nefariousness and vast lack of compassion.
Two events of the 1990s that left me speechless were the sinking of Estonia and the Columbine shooting.
I thought Kurt Cobains Death would ve been Top 3.
I was born in Sep 1990 but I have a few flashes of many of these moments in my head.
princess diana died way too young
today, May 1st, 2024. 30 years have passed since we lost Ayrton Senna.
I remember most of these but I was a teenager so I was too busy playing video games, watching TV, in school most of the time so everything just flew by
I love mike Tyson bite his ear, and blamed evander, look his arms….. why you drop your ear😂😂🤣😂🤣😂
La riots, princess Diana dying, OJ, okc bombing, and Columbine would be my top 5 (Of course I’m sure that is “too American”)
This list could easily have been doubled or tripled
I can’t believe columbine wasn’t on this list. Every time watch Mojo does one of these lists, there is at least one glaring omission.
Thanks Senna.
What About The Versace Murder?
I was born in 1986. I remember all these events except the racer dying.
I'm surprised Columbine wasn't on the list. The Rwanda genocide and Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandle were big news too.
#10 @ 0:21 Tyson Bites Ear
#9 @ 1:27 The Death of Kurt Cobain
#8 @ 2:29 The Death of Princess Diana
#7 @ 3:31 Ayrton Senna’s Crash
#6 @ 4:39 O.J. Simpson Is Found Not Guilty
#5 @ 5:50 Bosnian War
#4 @ 6:50 Operation Desert Storm
#3 @ 8:05 Waco Siege
#2 @ 9:05 Rodney King Beating/L.A. Riots
#1 @ 10:25 Oklahoma City Attack
OKC is the first event that truly impacted me and showed me the evil in this world. In 2022 I was blessed to be able to tour the OKC memorial. I was too young to remember the challenger explosion as I was just 4, I was in 7th grade for OKC
OKC was my first taste of evil too. I was 7, but I'll never forget that image of the gutted federal building
So Rwanda doesn't get a shout out or nothing?
These moments were shocking! I learned about a boxer's ear getting bit off, OJ Simpson getting away with murder, and the death of Princess Diana. I feel bad for the deaths on this list. I had no idea that one of the guys in Nirvana passed away. I watched him in music videos and listened to him sing on someone's phone. Also, I didn't know it was Mike Tyson who did that. What he did was disgusting!
I know u guys didn’t just throw 2pacs passing in as an afterthought! 2pac should have made the list in the top 3 at least! His influence, his legacy, and his impact on music still to this day warrants him his own spot not to be piggybacked on Kurt cobain! So disrespectful.
I’m not surprised that Kurt was on here, that day still haunts music fans to this day but at least his legacy still lives on in his music and songwriting
The 1993 WTC Bombing. Also, the deaths of Tupac and Biggie, the 2 biggest icons of the Hip Hop culture at the time, could've been more than a 2pac throw in with Cobain.
What about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal
IMHO Princess Diana's murder should have been higher on the list..
It's weird being born in the 90s, I have so much nostalgia for that decade but so little memory of it. I have 0 memory of the OJ Simpson trial, hadn't even heard of it until 10 years later, have zero memory of Princess Diana, again never even heard of her until long after it happened, and I barely even remember the turn of the century. The first major event I can remember was 9/11 and even that was a bit of a blur because I was still so young I couldn't fully comprehend it.
You were a small child of course you don't remember.
DIANA DYING LEFT THE 90’s IN SHAMBLES
#7 🤷♂️ First time I've heard of it.
i would put death of diana the biggest 90s moment.
I was ages 18-28 in the US in the 90s. I would expect the top 5 on this list to be 1) Diana 2) OJ 3) Oklahoma City 4) Columbine 5) Rodney King . Maybe Columbine didn't seem as significant outside the US.
30 years ago today since Senna's crash
My 90s events
-Princess Diana’s death
-OKC bombing
-OJ getting away with murder
-Persian Gulf War
-Columbine
-Clinton lying about his affair
I was 7 months old when Princess Diana died in Paris
Princess Diana 😭💖
I'm from Texas this is the first time I heard anything bad happening in Waco
As these videos, and images were tragic and did make the World stand still, I would have to say that the F1 car crash would only effect a small part of the people that follow this. I did not know about this, until this video. Kurt Cobain's suicide affected a lot more people, and I think the Columbine High School shooting was much more of a Stand Still moment, plus with the other events like this have been duplicated in several different countries over the past couple of decades, it should have made the list.
Diana is an acronym for died in a nasty accident
Columbine was the most shocking in my life because it took away a child's sense of security at school and was the first of what became an all to common trend of school shootings. The formula 1 racer dieing wad tragic but i also heard about it first on this video. Heck dale Earnhardt was more shocking.
4:40 Anyone HERE AFTER O.J. Simpson’s death ( † April 10th, 2024) ?!??!?
Everyone cause this video was released after his death
I miss Ayrton Senna 😢😢😢
05:07 Man, that's David Schwimmer with white hair streaks!
That was a clip from the OJ Netflix movie. Or maybe it was on Prime
RIP Princess Diana
Rest in pieces
I lived a half an hour away from Waco at the time. I was a kid and I had no idea it was national news. All I know it was it was the only thing people were watching. The only thing they were talking about. It was crazy.
My stepdad was a truck driver who made frequent runs to and through LA during the LA riots. I remember the news report of a white truck driver that had been pulled from his truck and beaten. My mom and I sat on pins and needles waiting for news until my stepdad finally called and told us that his load had been cancelled because of the rioting in the area.
I'm sorry for you
No Hail Bop Cult mention
The death of Princesa Diana almost brought down the British monarchy. It was basically revolution.
Gotta add Biggie and Selena on there as well since Tupac is on there. The world Trade Center Bombing as well if you have OKC. One other huge event was Mogadishu
Self inflicted gun shot wound... yeah, sure, we'll go with that.
The junkie died of a smack overdose
I would switch the OKC bombing and the L.A. Riots, primarily because the riots were a two-part problem: police brutality and the tension between Black American & Korean (American) people in Los Angeles at the time.
The 1999 death of JFK Jr, Carolyn and Lauren Bassette.
He would have been president at some point this century… and the whole world would have been different.
I drive by the OKC bombing site all the time. The memorial is still there and well taken care of.
When I remeber shocking moments from the 90's, first thing that comes to my mind is Rodney King and LA riots.
I never laughed so hard about the whole La Police woot woot! 💪🏻
