The thumbnail had me thinking it was real. We had some in central texas to about 2011-2012 when they shut down the program we had. They were amazing little helo's
My dad was among the first to work on these back in the day. He absolutely loved them.

i've been LOVING the Kiowa. So far have only flown it single seat, but it has been an absolute blast flying with my buddies in Apache's

I miss flying the 58d. Rocket exhaust makes me happy.
On the back panel, on the last row of the ceiling mounted breakers there is one that say "AIR" on a white sticker, in the middle of that last row before ceiling breakers goes to back wall breakers, that will disable the Airbags. They are cool but can ruin your day sometimes... ;)

Don't let the slightly worse graphics fool you, the complexity of the flight model and systems simulated far outweight DCS's one.
Would be awesome to have a real fighter pilot feedback on that.

It's a spicy Bell 407. You'll be fine. 😂
It's not a 407, it's a 206 if anything. Bell called the OH-58D the 406. The original Kiowas were the OH-58A/C, and I believe they didn't win any contracts, so Bell decided to rip all the military stuff out and sell it to civilians. I'm pretty sure the KW was just a drastic improvement to the 206, and the 407 did use the OH-58D KW's main rotor, so some features were definitely "inspired" from the KW to make it modernized and equip it better, but the 407 actually came from the 206L, and I believe they just made an entire new aircraft name for it to show it as a new, which it was, but it could sell better if it was an entirely new model, not just a newer variant to the 206. I might be wrong on some of these
It's more a 407 than a 206.
@@CWLemoine Makes sense, but I'm pretty sure the line up and history of the KW was primarily relating to the 206, and I don't think the 407 was even out when the KW was first introduced.
@@clutchtucker the 407 is a 4 bladed, stretched version of the 406 which was basically a 206 with quad main rotor blades. OH-58A was the 206 ("2" meaning it has 2 main rotor blades) and as the aircraft was upgraded through time it eventually ended up as a fancier militarized version of the 407.

I want to see Mover vs Gonky in VTOL VR. It is simple but good and there arent a ton of key binds to confuse the situation. Just the standard vr controllers work very well and you can use pedals of you want.
Just started learning helicopters in DCS and wondering: how do I stop it quickly from flying forward to zero - without loosing or gaining altitude? Thanks for the video.

Speaking of Close Air Support, can you please react on the Broken Arrow scene in We Were Soldiers? There are a lot of interesting aircraft and comms that I think you could enlighten us more of, like the bombs they used, if the strafing effects were accurate...etc. More power sir!

A buddy of mine was a kiowa pilot. Retiring those birds was a poor decision.
All these modules are great but there's fuck all to do with them.
Sadly, in my humble opinion, the asking price for this is simply too much at £58 UKP. If it was £30, I'd be flying it now. Shame.
I would disagree. As a proud owner of this module, as well as many other modules, this is the best one I own. Professionally developed, full assed as opposed to other modules getting updates every month for features developers didn’t include in the original released product. Your opinion is yours, and I respect that, but I have found it to be worth every dollar…

Might it have been that dark and mysterious helicopter nastiness known as retreating blade stall? If it was, try not to have that happen during combat operations......

It was less than 100 knots.
That is a bug as far as I know.
I got a retreating blade stall on ECW at about 120 knots. Very normal and predictable
