Hey man I’m an actual blacksmith here in Kentucky, if you jumped into this with no experience beforehand you absolutely did an okay job!!! Grinding bevels freehand is a skill you ONLY acquire through repetition and failure Lol 😂 nice little tango 👍🏼 FYI- I’d suggest using coal or charcoal, gas isn’t the best way to start. You’ll appreciate your work more in the end. Plus you have more control over the temp and less chance of messing something up, just turn your fan off if you walk away haha
Get an old brake drum and fill it with coal and blow on it with hair dryer. Get a stump and a railroad tie connector for an anvil. Set to go. I started with a railroad spike and made a hatchet. Definitely a cool hobby
My wife got me a forging experience in Seattle at Lawless Forge for my birthday last year. I made a Horseshoe knife. It taught me that, while fun, Blacksmithing isn't for me. While "It will Cut!", it's not going to win any awards, but it's one of my most precious knives in my collection. I even made a belt sheath for it to ride in when I choose to carry it. Looks like yours was also a fun experience.
I definitely had a bunch of moments where I was like “this is not my hobby” lol. But I’m definitely interested in pursuing it more to see if I can push past those shortcomings, because it’s so rewarding when you get an awesome thing in your hands at the end.
It’s not a hobby; it’s a post-apocalyptic life skill. 🙂
Just doing my part to prove my usefulness in the end times 😂
I like it, I have a thing for Tanto style blades. You should be proud of that knife, working with metal like that is a whole different animal.
This is really cool man. From 3D printing to blacksmithing, you truly are a craftsman!
Good knife, do you have a loicense for it?
It’s a great course. Did it as date night making the dagger. 10/10
Their date night packages are really quite awesome. Great group of guys over there.

That's awesome. I wish I could find a class like that around here. The knife looks great!
Very cool knife. It sounds like the course was great.
