    This is a great tutorial but I thought I’d mention that i found the background music really, really distracting. Not the music so much, but the speech that’s going on. It was like trying to concentrate on listening to you in a crowded room. Lovely petticoat though x

      Yeah the noises were distracting. I like this video but I'm seeing this is a trend in the channel and it makes it hard to understand what the person is saying

    A tip from an entirely different type of large skirt wearer:
    If you want to extend the life of your petticoats, or are otherwise unhappy with the amount of end floof, use starch. It's ideal if you can find one specifically made for clothing, but even standard cooking one works perfectly, it's just slightly harder to apply. Starch will make the fabric stiffer and hold shape better, which is ideal for heavier overskirts, or when it's starting to lose shape because of age.
    That being said, be mindful of how much you use, because past a certain point you will start sounding like a poorly scrunched paper bag.

    Thank heavens. A video for beginners. All the others I watched assumed I knew what they were talking about and jumped into it. This is so much easier.

    Very informative video. I'm a 48 year old 50's style lover, and this petticoat video helps with 50's dresses too. Sewing tulle petticoats takes so much time and effort...

    Omg brilliant tutorial for an absolute beginner. All the other ones I've watched have assumed ppl know what they're doing already 😩 I've watched so many and finally watching yours I understood how to do this, from measuring, to gathering properly while sewing and layering etc. Thank you sooo much 😁😁😁 can't wait to try this on my day off for my Halloween costume this year. I've been putting it off as I couldn't understand the tutorials and now I can't wait to try it.

    I got a bit lost on the elastic part, but I think I got it now. Very good tutorial :)

    • @timebrats
      @timebrats Před 3 lety +5

    How do you get the number for the 2nd and 3rd tier? I'm trying to make one of these for my term project but I can't quite figure out how to get the last two tiers :(

    • @Marigold11037
      @Marigold11037 Před 3 lety +3

      I think if you multiply the previous layer by 2.5 then round it to an even number that should give you some good measurements 😊

  • @Obsidian0pal
    @Obsidian0pal Před 4 měsíci

    Honestly, I dont understand the math part on the teir 1, 2 and 3 of the petticoat. I understand that you must measure the length twice your waist size but how do you calculate each section?
    I tried to calculate, but I'm not getting the right answer like 200 and 450

    • @Mirasworkplace
      @Mirasworkplace Před 3 měsíci

      They're rounded off 84×2.5 = 210 rounded back into an even number to 200 200× 2.5 is 500 but is cut back by 50 inches to get 450
      Basically it's your choice how long you want these to be, as long as the minimum is 2× the length of the previous tear

    If you are having trouble gatherung evenly, you can mark each tier not only at half, but quarter, eighth, and even sixteenth for long tier and match the marks. Not that this creater struggled at all.
