  • John Zakovec of Nebraska, has a passion for unique Oliver Tractors. It doesn't get more unique than his low production Fiat built 1975 Oliver Model 1365, a four wheel drive high crop tractor.
    These tractors were designed and built for vegetable growers in California.

    In 1976 I went to work for Schreiner farm equipment , the olivier /white dealer in Oxnard ca . We were taking 2-60s and turning them and the next size smaller and bigger and turning them into row crop 4x4s. Take a 4x put the big tires on the front , rotate the rear axle housings down , build a gear box out of 3/4 plate 4 row roller chain to match the axle gear ratios . In the year and a half I worked there we must have built 25 to 30 of them for the vegetable farmers . We had one farm company that moved during the year , Salinas/Oxnard , Arizona and imperial valley ca . I know we had 8 or 9 of them in for service . I never knew that the factory built them .

      @randymagnum143 Před 5 lety +1

      ih1206 I ran one of the 1365's 30 years ago. I hated it because it wasn't any more efficient than the bigger 6 cylinder white. Just sort of an all around pig. The diff lock is more of a self destruct button than a useful feature. Nice to know fix it again Tony hasn't improved over the last half century.

    My tractors are White W2 -60s. The same book says it's also the Oliver 1365. Not the high front tires, but front wheel assist for sure. Mine are 4 serial numbers apart. 60 HP, and it can pull a 3 bottom full depth with no problems.
    Mine are from 76.
    There is a Fiat version also. Everything is the same as the Oliver 1365 and White 2 - 60, but the Fiat has a 3 cylinder.

      Badge engineering, companies do this when they need a quick gap fill in their line up, they go to another company to get a model they don't build and paint them to their colors. Instead of loosing years on R&D, they keep their loyal customer happy with the right paint on a product. Car companies did the same with compact cars. Mitsubishi to Chrysler, Daewoo to GM...

      Hi Joseph, I found some information on this Finnish website;
      konedata.net/traktorit/kubota/kubota-m4000-m7500-1976-1985/
      Translated from Finnish to English with Google Translate: "Kubota's first actual Farm Tractor was in 1976 introduced M4000, which was partially licensed from Fiat. The main market was U.S. The engine was Kubota's own 2.2-liter 6-cylinder".
      (I think all engines were 3-cylinder, I can't believe they put a 2231cc 6-cilinder diesel engine in such a small tractor)
      This CZcams video confirms the Kubota 4000 tractor has a 3-cylinder engine (0:56);
