  • The Trading Post is an amazing new feature that was added to World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The Trading Post gives players the opportunity to organically earn currency called Trader's Tender from doing their favorite activities in WoW, and exchange it for rotating cosmetic rewards each month. Sounds great right? Unfortunately, you will now be able to purchase additional Trader's Tender using RMT. With modern World of Warcraft monetizing cosmetics, mounts, pets, transmog, and even gold using the WoW Token, what does your WoW subscription for $15 a month get you now?

The industry only gets worse with time, the more people are subjugated to these bad practices and in turn are made passive to them. When Blizzard initially introduced their community council some time ago, I eagerly applied for a position, submitting a detailed document brimming with innovative ideas for the game. One of the concepts I presented was the trading post. Now, I'm not implying that I single-handedly created the trading post, but to be honest, the resemblance is uncanny. I firmly believe that it's possible for two individuals to conceive similar ideas around the same time, but... I don't know. I wasn't actively playing World of Warcraft when the trading post was launched, but my friends had reviewed my document prior to my submission. They bombarded me with messages when it was released, pointing out the striking "similarities."
One crucial aspect outlined in my document was how the currency rewarded by the trading post should be handled. It was intended to be exclusively earned through tasks and, perhaps, a small amount granted to those with an active subscription. The intention was never for it to be traded or available for purchase. My entire concept revolved around the idea of including both old and store items on the trading posts. This approach aimed to address the issue of bullying that often occurs towards individuals who purchased certain items, while also providing an equal opportunity for everyone to acquire those items without having to spend real money. So, whether you preferred to purchase the items directly or save up for a few months, the choice was yours.
Like you, I'm absolutely furious. I had a feeling that somehow they would mess it up, but I never expected it to happen so swiftly.
