I worked for Townsend Thoresen, before they were bought by P&O, and it's been downhill ever since. They've done this before. If you cast your minds back to the late 80s, they sacked all their staff, and tried to force them to sign back on, on a new and much worse contract. There was a very acrimonious strike, but they got away with it.
      And here we are again...

These people will find any crack to show their behaviour in a good light, any technicality or minor point. You can tell it is typical corporate speak, emphasise the "good points" (I mean trying to show their pay rates as a positive thing when they are quite disgusting) and completely deflect from their shittier behaviour or just pretend it didn't happen. And whilst people just let this happen, things will continue to get worse. They may have met their legal obligations but morally speaking they are utterly bankrupt. Will try and avoid P&O wherever possible.
