    I’m moving on , the show won’t be the same without Bobby. Twitter is all about free speech. This could of been handled differently.

    Wally you better not throw Bobby under the bus cuz he made an accurate statement that ruffled some feathers.

    The two guys who played in the NHL get it. He needs an opportunity to play in that role but not getting it in Ottawa. And he should develop into a solid player.

    Jbd has been good I think. I think we have to move from either Chabot or chych so they better not do it for anything less than a goalie or rhd

      JBD is alright at time but he's also nothing more than a 6/7 defensemen

    I know Wally hates him but its very weird imo. This whole narrative that he's not good enough because he's small makes no sense, hell he's more physical than Chychrun is! We can get stuck in the old ways of saying "we need to be bigger" or "we need to be more physical" or we can look at the fact that the team has been a lot better since he started playing more ice time. The analytics back it up too, his xGF% is over 53% with Chabot and also with Chychrun. Him and Kleven have worked well together so far too, his EVD is 81% and his overall WAR is 86%. To just ignore all that and say "no he's bad because he's small" is silly when we see all our other players stats improve when they play with him. He's not just an offensive LD stuck behind Sanderson, Chabot and Chychrun either he grew up a RD and has been very good since being moved back to the right side. It's not hsi fault he was pinned to Travis Hamonic for a couple years and had no chance to do anything, he's also our only depth dman who can fill in a top 4 role when there's injuries and we have the most injury prone top 4 in NHL history. The only downside is his size but his defensive analytics are still good because he's smart and knows "Hey I might not be able to knock this guy down but I can angle him to a spot where I can still render him useless and maybe make a play on the puck", he's very good at getting his stick in lanes and breaking up passes as well as tying up sticks in from of the net to prevent rebounds if he can't move the guy. The defense hasn't been the problem and I don't think it needs major changes just one or two impactful moves, next year a d-corps of Sanderson - Zub, Chabot - Branny, Chychrun - FA vet physical Dman and then JBD as the 7th or if they go down the route of moving Chychrun then Sanderson - Zub, Chabot - FA, Kleven - Branny and then JBD. I don't understand this whole just move him we have Kleven idea, Kleven has 16 NHL games, we can't just guarantee he will be a legit consistent top 4 dman, we did this with Lassi Thomson and JBD in the past. People are just getting way too caught up on the fact that he's small and ignoring all the things he does really well that make this team a lot better.

    Def siding with Wally here lol. Haven't these guys spent over a season complaining about how he doesn't fit in to the makeup of this team? Now they are defending the idea of keeping him.

    Sanderson - Pesce
    Chabot - Demelo
    Brannstrom - Zub
    Kleven

    • @wesgreig271
      @wesgreig271 Před měsícem

      Nice thought but that blueline comes in as WAY too expensive. Neither Demelo or Pesce is going to exactly be cheap and no chance you can be paying Zub 4.6 million on the third pair. To be more realistic I think you drop one of Demelo or Pesce (I like Demelo but I think Pesce is the better player), your third pair becomes Kleven - Branstrom (Branny has been fine playing either side), and then JBD is your seventh.

      @user-md3ij9oc9q Před měsícem

      You can NEVER have a 5’7”’D in bottom pairing.

  • @wesgreig271
    @wesgreig271 Před měsícem

    I'm ok with Branstrom as your number 5 if they move on from Chychrun or Chabot AND they have him paired with a bigger guy that moves bodies. If Kleven takes a step maybe it can be him, maybe you bring in a guy like Lybushkin or Edmundson for your third pair to play with him, but i don't mind having his skill set on the third pair as long as there is someone who can clear net front because Branstrom simply can't.

      @chrisfortin984 Před měsícem

      Heres my issue with Brannstrom. Its not Brannstrom himself. Its more like you entire left side are the same type of player, making the defense very predictable. Kleven brings that physical presence on the left this team badly needs, and I think Kleven is ready next season in the 5 slot. I am not pairing both Brannstrom and Kleven together. They need a veteran to play with Kleven to properly develop him in the NHL. Two years ago, Brannstrom had no value whatsoever. In the last 2 years, he has played well enough that you can get some value in a trade for him, considering he is still an RFA and will be a cap-friendly contract so there's value there.

    • @sully_99
      @sully_99 Před měsícem

      @@chrisfortin984 Except Brannstrom is also very capable of playing RD and has been very good with all 3 of Chabot, Chychrun and Kleven.

    • @chrisfortin984
      @chrisfortin984 Před měsícem

      @@sully_99 Lets say you are right. You know he's making 2.5M this season right? How much you give Brannstrom next season if he is your answer with Kleven? Also do you feel confident Kleven can thrive with Brannstrom on the right side? You know if you re-sign him its 2.76-3M next season right, for a no.6.

    • @sully_99
      @sully_99 Před měsícem

      @@chrisfortin984 He's making 2 mil this year, and he might require a slight boost but it wouldn't be much, he's also not the 6 though, I think you put him beside Chabot as his RD, sign a physical vet to play with kleven, unless you're keeping Chychrun then Kleven starts in the AHL. Kleven only has 16 NHL games, I don't understand why the entire fanbase is certain he can be a legit top 4 dman next year. We need people who have proven that they can play top 4 minutes consistently because the "big 4" are the most injury prone big 4 in the league by a mile and Brannstrom is th eonly one we have that's shown us he's capable of that.
