FYI, I started following your channel about 6 years ago when doing research on the Xiaomi Notebook Pro. I'm writing this comment on that machine right now and, while it has some battle scars, it still runs very smooth even though it's been used for hours every day and has traveled across the world with me. This Matebook might be a good replacement for it though.

@TechTablets (timeframe 00:19:12-00:19:20) : Chris, as this laptop's product line name suggests, you mention that the Huawei Matebook X Pro isn't really for gaming but for productivity or "business" as you call it (which inherently indicates a lot more static content being shown on the screen), however this laptop is equipped with an OLED screen which is a lot more sensitive to burn-in issues compared to TN, VA or IPS panels. Compared to other panel technologies OLED seems to be the worst choice for productivity purposes at this point in time : look at today's video from Monitors Unboxed for more evidence (3 month usage review).
One could argue that Huawei made the wrong decision here by opting for an OLED for a business laptop. I wonder how this screen would like like after 6 months of productivity use...

I've got an OLED it's a LG CX 42" years old now and It's on at least 7 hours a day maybe more and no burn. The trick is to use screen saver of blank set to 1 minute. Auto hide taskbar, don't run 100% brightness nonstop and you should be fine. The last time I saw burn in AMOLED/OLED was my Galaxy S6.

Only if Macbooks could actually be of any use to professionals outside of the video/illustration/spreadsheet/music needs.
Try being a CAD engineer or an architect with a macbook, or a CGI artisti (like myself). No support for anything, nobody uses them because they are beyond useless with negligible software support.
Would love to take that hardware for a spin, but from my perspective they are almost these exotic niche products of no real value.
I guess my point is the only way an apple laptop may be the "go to" product in this field is if you're someone whose software needs align with that of a youtube creator in general. For spreadsheet/office use nobody really needs an m2 or m4 tbh.

@@aljosacebokli well that can be for your 'sector'. @@sssssalva1 I very much doubt that apple machines are the industry standard in the it/programming fields as most of these professionals will support Windows infrastructure or write software for Windows, which has over 70% market share globally.
Mac OS has like a 15% market share total, unlikely to make it the prevalent standard in any field.
I've worked through small studios to big companies to international corps in London and the only time I've seen a Mac is when I freelanced for a branding agency.
My gf is an EA for finance and accounting firms and she has never been issued anything but a windows laptop by her employers.
I guess my point is that the "oh but there's Mac why buy XY" really doesn't hold much water outside of the CZcams creator community.
Again, I think the hardware is really good and I'm also waiting to see what Qualcomm shows us this year for Windows.

Hmm yes but it's not out yet and ARM so still not everything runs well if X86. There are still some issues and when emulating it will not be as good as native. But hopefully the new X laptops I'll see in Taipei at Computex really looking forward to seeing if they live up to the hype.

For business use-case shouldn't be many problems, all Microsoft software will be fine. For cases where specific software is called for then perhaps non-native programs become a stumbling block. @@Techtablets I prefer the MB Pro 14 (M3Pro), costing a similar amount as it has far better battery life, as good a display, similar keyboard, trackpad and speakers, but the Mac runs mostly cold and silent. Also the Mac has far better IO. But as far as Windows laptops go, this resembles what Apple would make if doing Windows, and my first choice, though I am still unsold by this year's Intel and AMD chips. Thankfully, Huawei have recognised this and given a nice new design with added features.

Can a reluctant Apple user speak up? Im mostly stuck in the Apple ecosystem because of my kids. No iPhone would mean no FaceTime with them, no parental controls over them, no easy sending of full quality vids with them, no AirDrop with them, etc. if it weren’t for them, I’d have a NothingPhone at the moment. iPhone is pretty mediocre, really.
… that said, the Mac laptops are Apples best product. I had a M1 pro MacBook Pro, was flawless. Upgraded to a M3 pro MacBook Pro, also flawless. Having a laptop with instant on/off, and almost no battery drain when closed, is really useful for business. And performance is great (I also have a top tier windows gaming laptop, and for daily usage outside of games, the MacBook Pro is snappier).
Windows or MacOS is six of one, half dozen of another. Basically equivalent for normal folk.
This Huawei definitely looks nice though. Cannot deny that.
Once the new intel low power chips are in everything, and once MS fixes the sleep implementation in Windows, Apple loses its real advantage. Also cannot deny that.

I'm a windows user myself and two of my coworkers have a few previous year's model of this laptop and the battery is almost dead, with 1~2 hours of autonomy. As a windows user it is difficult for me to completely migrate to macos but it is a shame that Windows laptops equally or even higher priced do not offer the same quality of the hardware in macbook laptops.
