- Here is part 2 of what it's like owning Maine Coon cats. These are some things we've learned from living with our Maine Coons. This video took forever to make and we hope you guys enjoy watching it! We tried mentioning as many things as we could, but if we think of more things we will make a part 3 in the future.

They do - except from 1am to 7am. Trying to teach mine that the meowing times are between me wake up and me sleeping. Having a hard time because the cat will decide when I'm allowed to sleep.
I have had Maine Coon’s since I was 13. I am now 54 and currently have 2 precious babies... they are mother and son
Molly has quite the purr machine going.Albus may get more cuddly,but Weegy was from the start.He really was a baby.
Life with MCs is wonderful as long as u remember who is in charge, and provide food and loving on demand - loved every second ❤️

The best cat I ever had by far was a Maine Coon, although I didn't know anything about Maine Coons at the time. They love to interact with people and are always favorites of guests. I'd get another Maine Coon in a heart beat, except at 74 yo, I worry about whether I can take care and do the cat justice in the future if I die. Wish I had a few yonnger friends I could rely upon to back me up.

All the more reason to take care of yourself just to outlive your cat. I'm 65 and have a half breed coon and absolutely love her, she's around 4 or 5 now.. She rules the house. Fresh water and food daily. What ever she wants, she gets. Spoiled her completely. Don't forget vet visits on a regular basis, with all the shots to go with it. You'll be glad you did.
Go ahead and get one! Get one of those easy to take care of litter boxes. Have the cat food and litter delivered to you. Find out if there are Maine Coon clubs, I’m sure they could find a wonderful home for them if god forbid it became necessary.
How much do they caust
My Maine Coone has passed away years ago. Seeing the video reminded me of his cute unique meow. He loved being in the water. One time a bunny showed up at our place and Tio would place with it. He taught me to play fetch. He was so smart and really only bonded with me. He would try to sleep on my husband's side of the bed. He considered his place. I miss his company and his dog like traits like going for a walk with us.
My husband and I live in the country, when we moved out there we knew we needed cats. We found a farmer that had kitties and he was very diligent about spending time with them. We got 2 brothers and we're so happy that they were long haired. They are now 5 and I'm almost 1000% they have maine coon in them. They are exactly how you describe your cats. And they are the biggest lovers ever, they absolutely LOVE going outside hunting. Someday when they are gone I will be getting a pure bred maine coon. Thanks for sharing yours!!! Cat lovers unite!! 😻
We have a father and son. We adopted them early-Fall 2019 so we have rarely been around ‘normal’ cats since then. They’re both 26lbs or 12kg, lean, but very fluffy. Whenever we encounter typical cats now, they seem comically small, gracile, like a chihuahua when you were expecting Labradors or a German shepherd.
My cat Moosie is half Maine Coon and when he was young he was quite the hunter. Our yard was chipmunk free for for a decade. He’s so affectionate and very vocal. He makes my day.
Hit the nail on the head with this series, and opened my eyes to a few characteristics that I didn't recognize with my own coon.
I'm glad you ended with their addicting. I'm watching this because I've had kitten fever for the past 2 months wanting another maine coon!
Their very unique, hearty cats.
I love Khajiit. Hes my best friend.
Hopefully I can get another Maine Coon soon when the time is right.

Kisbel Quinonez They are really great hunters! I have lost count of the number and kinds of critters Merlin and Morgana have brought through the cat door. Merlin’s are usually still alive and unharmed. Morgana is not as nice about it. I really believe Merlin wants to keep it like a pet. Morgana thinks she is providing dinner and seems a little off-put when I bury her conquests in the yard. I would have 100 if I could afford them. Very loving and vocal. Best cats EVER!

My Maine Coon princess, Olivia, hated snow. What? touch that nasty cold stuff with her fluffy paws? Never! But she loved to play, especially fetch. Three days before she died (age 16) she was still trying to play with my shoelaces when I was getting dressed.
I loved when you say that they will steal your heart. That's exactly what happened with my 2 Maine Coons 🥰

A stray kitten showed up here, a year ago last March. He's got the white chin and chest, a big, bushy tail, especially in season. As far as I know, he's a mix, but when I look at these cats, I recognize mine. He's very affectionate, doesn't meow much, but sounds a lot like these cats. His fur repels water, and when he comes inside during a rain, very little water clings to his fur. His fur is more like your grey cat, in thickness. People who have seen him declare that he's a beautiful cat. Whatever make and model he is the bestest cat in the whole wide world, as I tell him. He's basically an outdoor cat on my three acres, surrounded by trees, with a creek at the bottom of the property. He kills Meeces to pieces, and chases rabbits. I named him Tomcat.
I've owned a few Maine Coons and they're the most wonderful cat breed in my opionion!
I too, have a (partial?) Maine Coone. Came to me as an abandoned kitten (tossed at the side of a highway). Most loving, affectionate, funny and intelligent cat I’ve ever had. Strikingly beautiful. Heart of a lion!
Molly is just so stunning; I can't even stand it. She looks so much like my old cat, Ginger, who was orange striped... but had such a similar body & features as Molly.
Love my Main coon the best cat I've had. Always at my feet, follows me through the house.

My baby is half pure breed Maine Coon. We rescued her from a bad breeding situation.
Since she wasn't "pure" she was dumped at about 5 weeks old.
She's now fat and happy! Looks just like Molly but all black ❤

I love these beauties! Very vocal....big and gorgeous coats! I love cats...had a maine coon years ago and he loved the snow and jumping in my raked leaves! I loved him...wish he was still here! Now I have four babies that are sweet. They are not maine coons but I love them!
I had a litter of kittens. The mom wasn't main coon, but their dad must have been. While some were fluffy, some were just huge and medium haired. It was a weird mix. They all enjoy the water, they all trilled, and they all hunted great together. They were up to squirrels by age 8 months. They also LOVE belly rubs, they never told me to stop like most cats.
Thank you for great videos about owning Maine Coons. I believe you said everything that is important. By the beginning of July, I will get my own kitten and then I'll experience it for myself. Your cats are lovely and you are doing a great job!

I groom our Gracie twice a day. In fact she demands to be groomed! She has two brushes and adores her Kong brush as it has a massaging effect. You are so right about feather toys. They are dangerous. MC's are very vocal so as long as you enjoy a chatty cat then you will enjoy an MC. They are very beautiful and have amazing coats with many hues. Get a good pet hair hoover and your good to go! I HAD A MAINE COONE FOR YEARS...WOULD NOT WANDER OFF THE YARD AWAY FROM THE HOUSE...ALL OTHER CATS WOULD...CHASED SMALL DOGS
AND CATS THAT DID NOT BELONG THERE...WOULD MEOW OUTSIDE MY WINDOW IN THE MORNING AND WOULD WAIT FOR ME TO COME HOME FOR ME TO PICK HIM UP SUCH A GOOD LITTLE RASCAL !!!!
Ours too! He loves outside and goes out every night and waits on the porch every morning. He has followed our small dog into battle more than once, and he follows us on walks! He’s a beast of a cat!

I love my Romulus - he isn't a lap cat usually but when he decides he wants attention, he'll yell at me until I say "Show me!" and inevitably he'll take me to his food bowl, his toys, his potty, or simply flop down on the ground and expose his belly for pets. So cute!

Yes. Loved our Esther she was wonderful. I'm pretty sure my Savannah is either full maincoon or part. She has all the characteristics. Accept her looks are solid grey but has the long hair poofy tail hair and all. Talks like them too.

The fluffy kitty looks exactly like my kitty!!! My kitty meows alot and she is a snuggler. She also sleeps with me since my husband passed away! She is smart and beautiful! The only thing about her is she is small and her long fur is thin! I had a male Maine coon and he was 30 lbs. and short-haired. He hardly made a sound but he was very smart and loyal! I loved that kitty and I miss him! He was a very special cat and stole my heart!

Elvis though he's not a pure bred Mainecoon, he loves ice cubes. While Milo loved water, I'd find his toy strings in his water bowl lol.

I had a different stereotype in my mind about these cats based on my first and only encounter with one of these that belonged to a friend. I went to pet it and It remained perfectly still while looking at me - didn't make a sound. It allowed me to put my hand on it . A fraction of a second after I did, it went totally berserk. Luckily, I had fast reflexes. I pulled hand away just barely in time to avoid getting cut by its claws - as it went crazy growling and swinging frantically like a Tasmanian devil. It was as though it had a sick sense of humor "Yeah come and pet me, I'll show you just how real cute and cuddly I really am" So, I thought that they were all that way.
Yep! they like cold weather, especially snow...

Beautiful! I’ve owned two purebred Maine Coons. The one I have now was almost 4 when I got her from a breeder. She was a retired breeding queen and is a real lap cat. Maine coons have a way of communicating with you. I wouldn’t have any other type of cat.

Gentle Giants 😂😂😂🤩 I, m sure & docile too, right? That,s what they said about our family getting a seal point (Ragdoll cat 🐈) he is SO hyper excitable from the first day we had him. His name is Dexter & we love / like him very much. All cats are sweet & nice & cute awesome animals.

Have had three Main Coons. Loved them dearly, more dog than cat. We now have five dogs, three are big so no cats for now.
Ours all got a clip for dingleberries. Miss them dearly. Our Dallas got along great with Elvira our Rottie.

I have 2 regular cats one is an orange tabby(female) amd the other is a siamese/tabby mix also female and they both exude the peronality traits you described. They are needy and love attention, they follow me around everywhere, they are very vocal and chatty and demand food all day and love a good snuggle and are very affectionate and sweet. Not saying this to negate what you've said just curious about the other domestic house cats you have encountered over time. I think at least mosts cats have these characteristics so long as you give them lots of attention.

My Maine coon cat was a rescue. She is beautiful and loving. The only thing that drives me crazy because she talks all the time! She is otherwise a great cat . Named her ROO short for kangaroo. The reason is she jump from the floor to the top of my refrigerator the second day I brought her home and it has become her favorite place and the vet said she was only about 3 to 4 weeks old!!

Thinking to get one,have a normal cat now that is super friendly and behaved but I feel like she gets lonely in winter time when she has to stay indoors and we are at work.

My Timothy SnugglePuss turned 17 in September 2020 💖 while he has slowed down over the years, he is still my sweet, sweet boy and I’m not sure how I’ll sleep when I don’t have him demanding cuddles at bedtime 😞 I have grown fond of the painful cramping one experiences when diligently focusing on the comfort of one’s kitties ❤️
As we watched part one and two, our Maine Coon was being demanding and vocal and investigative. Every thing you said was right on with every Maine Coon we have owned or our family has owned. The only thing that you didn't mention is the Maine Coons we have known and loved live for "pretty kitty". We have to have 2 brushes for Miss Chevious. One for her to rub her face all over and one to brush the rest of her.

We recently rescued a Maine Coon from a bad situation. I can not believe how quickly he has stolen my heart. Like everyone I am have a lot of stress and anxiety now. When I lay down he lays across my chest and does not move until my heart and respiratory rates have slowed. He has quickly become my therapy cat.
How do you dry them after a bath ? Can a hairdryer on med/low work ?

I LOVE Maine Coons, they are my Dream kitty would love to have one. But can't find any in my area.
They are INTELLIGENT! My Maine Coon picked up on commands after only a couple of times repeating them. I wasn't even trying to train her, but she developed about a 20-word vocabulary. She's gone now. I miss her.

Our Maine coon, who is 12, has terminal bone cancer. We are so devastated. I can’t even express the love that we have for him. It’s been one of the hardest things we’ve ever experienced. I don’t know what our life will look like with out him. My husband and I have enjoyed every second we have had with him. They are special that’s for sure.
