That doesn't change the fact that everyone would've died if he wasn't caught.If he killed Nagito he most likely would've continued the class trial without telling the truth and if he succeeded everyone would've died so whats the point of trying to kill Nagito in the first place
I didnt like Mahiru when I first saw her in lets plays years ago, but in hindsight she really is one of those hidden gems you that need to dig deeper to understand. She truly is realistic and nuanced which makes her one of the most memorable characters. We just dont get to see that in the main story and only through her free times.
Mahiru was one of the few characters who honestly felt complete to me when I played the second game. The only other ones who felt finished were Imposter, Teruteru, Hajime, Chiaki, and Nagito. Fuyuhiko's development arc felt rushed, Sonia felt underutilized, Kazuichi and Akane became too one-note by the time the fourth chapter came around, Ibuki and Gundham were both severely lacking in development, and didn't have many genuine moments. Hiyoko would've been perfect if her character arc wasn't cut so abruptly for no reason, Peko was wasted potential, and Nekomaru overstayed his welcome just a tad, and didn't really offer much for to the story for him to last so long... and I don't even want to touch on what a mess Mikan is, I seriously can't stand her.
I really don't understand why people think mahiru is a " man hater " since she only really showed hostility towards men at the prologue . . In chapter 1 during the secret event : she thanks hajime and even stops calling him " unreliable hajime " and says she will start thinking of him as " sometimes helpful hajime " . In chapter 1 before the dinner party : she feels bad for nagito , for being stuck in cleaning duty . And even says that she thinks he will be a great dad one day . In chapter 2 : its revealed that she was the only one who regularly checked up on nagito when the others tied him up in the dining hall of the old building so that he didn't starve and even made several trips to the cafeteria when the food she brought nagito didn't seem tasty to him I think mahiru was a character that was greatly hurt by " first impressions " and since she dies so early she never really gets a chance to change the players impression of her , even tho in the examples I listed she's clearly a sweet person who just wants people to be the best versions of themselves
I don't even think Mahiru hates guys, she just has really high expectations of them. It's actually more of a compliment that she expects so much from them.
I think the two facts that Akane is dislike is that she clearly caused the "death" of Nekomaru and that like Sonia she is not a good survivor for me she should have die in chapter 4 in place of Nekomaru.

I think in general, ALL the characters were way better during their free time events and in Island mode then they were in the main game. They showed sides to the character that weren't overly present in the main game. FTEs: Akane - struggled to provide for her family, because they lived in poverty. Ibuki - expresses a more genuine side, and her determination to never stop pursing her passions. Kazuichi - has severe trust issues as a result of hanging around the wrong people. Nagito - goes through a deep and dubiously true history of the constant hardships he's had to go through, slowly allowing you to understand him better. Nekomaru - was constantly in and out of the hospital, due to a terminal disease. Peko - slowly breaks away from her cold exterior, revealing a more relaxed side to her personality. Sonia - reveals her true fears to you, which allows you to understand her better beyond her strange customs. Main Game: Akane - FOOD Ibuki - RANDOM Kazuichi - SIMP Nagito - CRAZY Nekomaru - SHIT Peko - TOOL Sonia - MOST TIGHT
One of Danganronpa's biggest problem is taking a character trait and making it a massive part of the character in the main game so they feel either one note, annoying or underdeveloped, good examples would be Nekomaru and his shit stuff, Tenko hating men, and Teruteru and his sexually stuff it sucks because most people will think a lot of those characters suck because they didn't do their free time because they don't like them which is the biggest problem with free time events

I personally hated Mahiru and found her incredibly annoying and self righteous and was actually surprised most people didn’t hate her. Though on subsequent play-throughs I don’t hate her as much as I did but she is still one of my most disliked characters.

Most perverted characters are only hitting on the females, but I love that Teruteru will take anything he can get. He’s also a pretty sweet guy with a good heart aside from him being perverted. Refreshing to hear someone actually like Hiyoko, Hiyoko is also one of my favorite characters and she was originally meant to survive in DR2 which meant we could of seen so much growth from her. Btw, love the Spikemuth background music you used!
I hate how the fandom ignores how Mahiru treated Nagito and Mikan she is probably the nicest person in the Island, and even if she think their behaviour is kinda weird, she still talks to them as if they are her friends. She was the only one who took care of Nagito, and she was probably the most respectful person against Mikan. I'm not counting Imposter since they didn't talked that much with Mikan until Danganronpa 3 and they never realized about Nagito's dementia (Though they're a smartass, so they would have figured out)
I like how you're fair on the entire cast, tbh. Like instead of treating Teruteru as if pervertedness is his only character trait, you say that *besides* those traits he'd be a pretty cool character. I feel like his haters completely forget about how he wanted to protect everyone or how he cares about his family.

3 of my favorite characters are on here- 😭 They're Nekomaru, Akane, & Teruteru... I can see why their unpopular, but I love them! I fell in love with Nekomaru from the beginning! To me, he's a relatable character along with Akane! 😁 Teruteru caught my interests with his freetime events & his motive! I always end up liking unpopular characters, but hey, at the end of the day, we all got our favorites! 😌

I absolutely love Nekomaru and Akane, it's why they are my favorite characters in the entire series. They have really great development and character, especially when they grow together. I love Akane's growth from someone who hides her weakness behind her confidence and strenght to someone who understands that showing emotions and weakness is okay. Nekomaru meant a lot to her as a person and kickstarted the growth she needed. Their bond is unbreakable and it's nice to see.
Yeah that drug date attempt on Hajime from Teruteru wasn't the best idea to put in the game, including his other provocative attempts on the girls 😅 I think that Mahiru is kinda like Peko in the sense where she's a character that people generally like but don't have it as favorites. In a sense she's very similar to Tenko since both have some sorta stigma against men (Tenko is way worse imo) and were best friends of a small girl for whom they died for in a way (if Hiyoko's development wasn't scrapped the patterns would have continued, that is if she had one after chapter 3). Hm yeah it's shame that Nekomaru feels like he only died in chapter 4 because of the "buff character dies" pattern but I still think he was a great character that was very inspirational to the rest of the cast and I really love his friendship with Akane (I personally kinda see it as something more cause they just have that chemistry). Akane is like the definition of B+ character for me, I think that she might be on the bottom of unpopular with Teruteru since people don't really look to know about her (I.e free time events) and only label her as a dumb and reckless girl that loves eating (I also think that her being a dark skinned athlete and with a big chest just like Asahina doesn't help).
Teruteru is actually pretty loveable. I love his perverted personality, as he’s both into girls and boys. His motive was completely understandable. Teruteru wanted to see his ill mother to see if she was okay, as well as hoping to see the family restaurant again. Mahiru is one of my least favourites, but she’s not unlikeable. She’s pretty relatable and her backstory with Fuyuhiko’s sister is pretty interesting. Hiyoko is a really funny character, as she’s quite a little bully to most people. I’d personally say she and Mahiru are more likeable than Mikan. I also love the fact that she’s pretty mean, for a girl who looks younger than her peers. Nekomaru is awesome! Even for a big muscled guy, he’s actually quite kind and is mostly Akane’s trainer. The dying scene with Nekomaru and Akane was really emotional and really shows how much Nekomaru cares for her. As for Mechumaru, not as much, but he still sets the same character vibe. Akane is quite underrated in my book. I like how in the first couple of trials, she barely said anything and only contributed to giving Hajime proof a handful of times. Because of that, she managed to survive the Killing Game, which is pretty impressive. Although not as smart as some of the other students, she’s able to get help out and remain strong, despite the troubles throughout the game.
Hiyoko is...honestly not just my least favorite character in DR2. She's my least favorite character in the entire franchise. Mean or brutally honest characters can be great. I love Fuyuhiko, Kokichi, Junko, and Celeste (well...Celeste until chapter 3). But oh my God. Everything out of Hiyoko's mouth is just so grating. All the time. She's not even a funny kinda bitchy like Kokichi or Miu. She's just...bitchy. Chapter 3 may have been the worst one in the game (as third chapters tend to be in Danganronpa) but if there's one thing I gotta give it credit for, it's having her die at the hands of the person she tormented the most. And by complete chance, at that XD
Teruteru - I liked him in the 1st trial, but for the rest of the game (so, like the rest of chapter 1 lol), I was just more annoyed with him. Personally not a fan. Hiyoko - Honestly enjoyed her. Yes, she can be abrasive, but she doesn't sugar coat shit. I appreciate that bluntness. Honestly, I think she died too soon. I think she still had more story to tell. Mahiru - Loved her. I'm generally more a fan of the down to earth characters as opposed to the larger than life ones. She was immediately one of my favs and honestly could have taken a leadership position after Imposter died if she had lived longer. Nekomaru - Nah. Too loud, shit jokes got old. Didn't hate him, but far from one of my favs. Akane - For a character that was in the game as long as she was, she didn't really make much of an impression on me. I liked that she didn't get too affected by the bullshit, but for the most part, she was just kinda "there."
I honestly felt like Hiyoko got way too much hate... people like to write her off as being nothing more than a one-dimensional bully character, who never contributed much of anything, and died when she could've recieved her own development arc. But honestly, I felt like we got more out of her character than most of the others. People tend to dislike her for being angry at Fuyuhiko in chapter 2, despite him playing a role in the murder of her best friend, who she got the blame for. She had every right to be mad at him, and she had a realistic approach to slowly but surely forgiving him. Not many other characters had gone through a significant change like that, especially not in the second game... Seriously, I want someone to name another character in the second game who went through anything like that.... there isn't, every other character was fairly one-note, and stagnated from start to finish.
I disliked Akane because of the way the game heavily sexualized her (not actually a character problem) Hiyoko because she was foul mouthed brat, and I feel like that’s why I despise Miu more than even Kokichi in V3.
I like miu a lot more than hiyoko because she words it in a way that's comedic rather than just making her unlikeably mean. when miu says insults I laugh, when hiyoko does it I feel like strangling her
I like Miu as the best/worst character. She's a piece of trash, but the game knows it and has the other characters rightfully dislike her for it. I also like how they show her struggle to be vulnerable, because it explains why she remains despicable while having some humanity.
I honestly feel like Teruteru is one of the best *written* characters in the game. As a person I fucking hate him, but as a character he might be one of the best written in the series! He’s only around for one chapter, but he gets so much depth in that time. He’s not just a pervert, he’s a mama’s boy who would do anything to keep his mom safe. He’s embarrassed of being from (wherever he’s actually from, I don’t remember), so he puts on the character of a sleazy big-city chef. He’s a perv, sure, but there is so much more to him and I live for it!

Here we go again. My opinions on the characters before watching part 2! Teruteru: Obviously one of the most unpopular characters in the series. I think the fandom gives him too much crap, Sure he may be a pervert. But he still really cares about his fellow classmates. His father was a sleeze ball, I believe he took his fathers personality traits, Which made him what he is, Though I'm not justifying sexual harassment, I think your parental figures have control on who you become, Even without choice. And in his final moments. It shown that he really cares, we was just backed up into a corner like Sayaka was. Though he's not really one of my faves. he's still a cool dude. Mahiru: Honestly her just being in the group is comforting. Their are so many interesting characters in Danganronpa that we need a more "normal" character to balance it out. Though she does show hostility towards men. Its shown that she just wants the best out of everyone. And I'm glad they didn't really go tragic on why she's more bossy towards boys, she's just a sweet gal that's really nice to be around! Hiyoko: Since I haven't seen her freetime/Backstory's, I cant really show a true opinion, She's just a mixed bag for me. I like how she's trying to change, But I want her to just shut up most of the time, That's all I got... Nekomaru: A true sweetheart, I love em. Though he's not my fave, He's a really nice dude. His backstory is really heart warming yet sad. He's a true bro. He's willing to sacrifice alot just to protect whos important to him. I just really love the guy. I cant say much else- Akane: Though I don't like her behavior, She's just a tragic gal.. Seeing a corpse in the dumpster every morning that its normal biz for her. Being harassed by her mothers boyfriends. Having her to work hard do that her 7-8 siblings can survive. She really went through alot, And I just feel bad. She cares alot about them. She trys to give em a good life, In one of her event squares in V3's post game. She wanted to go see Himiko's magic show and take the siblings with them, Which I found cute. Though she can be as dumb as a rock, She's a sweet gal. This comment prob sucks since im pulling an all nighter but whatev's!
Hiyoko was taken away from her parents and the Saionji family is a common target for assassinations. People who are jealous of Hiyoko poison her food, put mice in her bed, put pins in her shoes and try to drop stage lights on her. That’s all I know about her backstory.

Something about Hiyoko: Fuyuhiko was originally supposed to be one of the two victims in chapter 3. But pretty late into the development of the game, he was saved, and Hiyoko was put in his place instead. This is made obvious since Fuyu had his arc completed at the time, which is why his character falls flat in the latter half of the game (at least in my opinion). We couldve had Hiyoko as a survivor, and I would've loved to see what her finished arc would've looked like. I'm so upset she didnt make it, I loved her 😭
I'm kind of surprised by the fact that you never even considered Peko for this because people really only talk about her relationship with with Fuyuhiko and not her as an individual, but I digress. Other than that I agree with almost everything that was said.

I’ll share my takes, per habit: Nidai’s shtick is in extremely poor taste. Compared to the rest of the SDR2 characters, who immediately (for some reason) attract cutesy awe, terrifying and disgusting Nidai Nekomaru ends up repulsing members of the fandom from spending their FTEs with him and getting to know the precious beating heart within. Same for Hanamura (the pervert shtick isn’t cute), but his FTEs don’t actually give him any redeeming qualities lol Owari Akane is difficult to understand and doesn’t leave a huge impression. SDR2 caters to the sappy side (with every survivor having lost someone they bonded with except Souda) of the fandom; not at all a bad thing. But Owari is brash and seems careless with her beau Nidai. Again, doesn’t exactly inspire the interest in the main story to invest in her FTEs. The only reason I found myself doing them was I’d already maxed Kuzuryuu and Nanami, the only surviving characters I cared about. Koizumi and Saionji are for similar reasons: they’re mostly rude in the main storyline. Especially Saionji, who picks on pitiful-looking Tsumiki and who has some… interesting sprites. Koizumi wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t a guy hater, which I imagine got tiring since she died before she managed to do anything else in the main story. Her FTEs don’t redeem her in particular, either, since she doesn’t receive a particularly soppy backstory compared to other SDR2 characters. Similarly, her friend Saionji suffers the same treatment since Saionji’s early FTEs don’t inspire much sympathy with her.
I don’t like Mahiru because she is an objectively bad person she covered up a murder. That’s not morally gray that straight evil. I also don’t think to highly of people who naturally gravitate to other bad people notice how she chooses the animal killer (most common trait in serial killers is harming animals as a child) in Hyoko to be friends and she loves to antagonize Fuyuhiko despite him really just choosing be alone stirring up problems that don’t need to exist. She just surrounds herself with negativity which is what negative people do. She gives off the air of the entitled brat who finds and causes problems that don’t need to exist and is a generally annoying presence in the community that everyone rolls their eyes at when they go for a lecture. Like I assume everyone had that one kid in class that always talked as him they were the moral authority on everything and they were a big of an ass, despite often not being the best person or even being a down-right terrible person. While she isn’t a perfect representation of that stereotype she just gives me that vibe. Despite that I do really like her character for the role she plays in the 2 chapters of being the cause of drama. It was fun to see the Wendy’s mascot piss off Fuyuhiko and try to defend Hyoko despite her really being indefensible.
Teruteru: Teruteru is a fine character, but he just does SO MUCH to make me hate him. Mahiru: (nice pick on Calisto Yew's theme for her) Mahiru is good. She works well in the Danganronpa formula, but she had so little time to show it off. I don't hate her; she's just an overwheling meh to me. Hiyoko: Idk how people hate her. Her roasts are savage and her Celeste-isms are what drew me to her. There were times she got a bit whinny at times, but they were appropriate. Nekomaru: It's another Mahiru. I like him, but after awhile he just became a meh to me. Akane: Akane was very delightful, but I felt she got carried in the back half of the game. She was ok in chapter 4, but afterwards she doesn't do much imo.
I honestly love your takes on these people, it's so interesting to see someone in another perspective! I can't wait to see the v3 cast! Shuichi, Kaede, Gonta, Kokichi, Kaito, Tenko, Maki, and Rantaro are pretty popular from what I've seen (maybe Keebo too but idk) Predicting Ryoma, Korekiyo, Angie, Tsumugi, and either Himiko or Kirumi or Miu for next video
One thought that I tend to disagree with in the video is that Junko's goal is to kill as many students as fast as possible. That's part of her goal but she has to do a lot of different things to prevent boredom and she wants her plan to have a possibility of failure. Junko actively keeps characters alive after the chapter four body discovery when she's not obligated too. I think that's part of creating the net to lure in more cast. All to throw up her plan in the air and not know if she will win or not.
The Monokubs should be included in V3's list. Unlike the other two games I've seem an almost universal fanbase defense squad for pretty much every character in V3 beside Tsumugi, Meanwhile people just try and act like the Monokubs don't even exist most of the time. They don't even seem to hate the Monokubs, they just often don't even acknowledge their existence. Like I've seen people make tier lists and story explanation videos that don't include or mention the kubs in any capacity despite being a pretty major part of the game (appearing in every single chapter alive, enforcing the Exisal's involvement by cleaning up the school, not being around anymore so the remaining characters can use the Exisals for Case 5, Enforcing not breaking the rules, getting involved in the executions ECT.) I'd say they're unpopular
i agree with the five you picked but i would actually change hiyoko for peko or the imposter,, since she is more overhated than underrated^^ (and honestly i swear its not because I LOVE peko ,, but i never actually see much of her fans in the fandom, same for the imp, i love him sm but theres actually little content for him)
I always felt like Mikan deserved more hate to be honest... she's a victim of social and sexual abuse who is constantly put in these awkward, fanservicy poses for comedic effect, that's just flat-out wrong.
Teruteru: I honestly enjoy him despite Pervy Antics (Honestly I don't get TOO frustrated with Pervy characters). He has a great design, fun character and his chapter 1 murder trail is honestly one of the bests for the mystery itself, with his plan to kill Nagito, turning into the murder of Twogami, his great breakdown with change of accent and his story of wanting to see if his mother is okay. Mahiru: She is a character I really enjoy, being really helpful during her first investigation and having fun interactions with characters. I also like her differences with Tenko, as Mahiru normally wants to see men at least do their best, while Tenko will despise men due to a misunderstanding and blind hatred. Wish she lived longer but she was a good character while she was around, and one of the most normal ones honestly. Honestly the points you brought up to made me appreciate her even more. I honestly like characters with flaws, so it was nice to realise them through this video. Hiyoko: Honestly I enjoy characters that change up the dynamic, and her being a little sh*t is fun. I understand why people don't like her, with the bullying of Mikan and such, but she makes for fun interactions and I can understand her frustrations as well. Still it would have been nice if she wasn't killed off her character development, if only some meh character decided to grab a mirror for Hiyoko so she could tie her Kimono, right Sonia? Nekomaru: I feel so sad for this character, cause despite surviving till Chapter 4, he only appears in 2 trails, and 3 Chapters, getting cut off from a lot of screen time. I don't have too much to say about him, but he was a fun ride and wished he had more time to shine. Akane:... Yeah... she's probably one of my least favourite Danganronpa characters. I think she just bugs me a lot. I don't enjoy her character arc (despite me getting a better understanding of it through Aeris's video on her), I dislike how she feels like she copies many things from Asahina. Insert Plot Convenient Stomach and MY GOSH, I HATE THAT HORRIBLE CRYING SOUND SHE MAKES. It is literally one of the most grating things I hate to hear. and I dislike how she doesn't seem to care about Nekomaru too much, where when Nekomaru comes back and despite Fuyuhiko warning her (and her not listening properly) she wastes her time, Nekomaru gets killed and it feels like she doesn't get much stakes in the Chapter 4 Class Trail, where it feels she doesn't care about him at all.
I personally think kazuichi would probably be considered worse than nechumaru (due to all the Sonia stuff). And nechu was cool! And I actually (personally) think mikan is worse than Akane, though my enjoyment of Akane is largely based on me playing a barbarian in dnd and she’s been great inspiration for that haha (and I got too into classing all the other characters). Will say that teru and kazuichi are my least favs. Pervs are my least favorite anime trope I wish would die. Also some of the teru hate is his ugly design (I hate it) and the kind of racist American voice which aren’t HIS fault but still I find off putting. As for mahiru, I think I just didn’t get to know her well enough to have much of an opinion on her. She seemed mildly annoying but I didn’t hate her.
Nekomaru is one of my favorites. Aside from him being a great dude and always helping others (his free times are really good), he has some pretty helpful moments in the first two trials, he really gave Fuyuhiko a kick in the head before he sacrificed himself for Akane, and he sacrificed himself again so the others could escape the Funhouse. He gets slept on hard, and I think that's because he's absent for so long in chapter 3, which I think was a bad writing decision.
Oh... Now that I saw the part of what they were talking about Fuyuhiko and Akane as they investigated, I am now much more sorry for the scene in which she regrets never thanking Nekomaru for saving her 😔😞
It's less obvious than Nekomaru, but Kyoko disappears a lot too. She never outright misses a trial (though she's late to trial 5) but you can notice that she's not available during freetime once she gets the skeleton key and starts investigating the second floor of the dorms.
Hmm... While I can't really speak for the DR2 cast as I don't know them that well, I'd say out of the two I dislike the most, only one of them made it in this video. That being Teruteru. The other one, who didn't make it, is Mikan. To me, it seems like she has a "I'm so weak, I can't do anything" attitude that really annoys me. I would have said that Gundham was annoying too, but the thing is, the more I learn about him, the more I begin to like him. He is still not a favorite though and will probably never be. My favorites, not in order, are Nagito, Akane and Fuyuhiko. Ibuki is also growing on me and she could potentially become a favorite.
The imposter is less popular than Mahiru I can't find anything for them Edit: Fuyuhiko did not decide to "sacrifice" Peko. She intervened and took Mahiru out herself, it was *HER* decision. She is to blame not Fuyuhiko, yes he *TRIED* to kill Mahiru but he didn't, that's the same with Miu, Sayaka and Maki they all tried to kill someone (Kokichi for Miu and Maki and Leon for Sayaka) and it failed either with them dying (Gonta killing Miu and Leon killing Sayaka) or someone else killing the person they wanted to kill instead (Kaito killing Kokichi instead of Maki killing Kokichi). That's the thing here he did not want Peko to die his reaction before her execution proves that as he says that he doesn't want her to go and that he still needs her, insinuating that he did not want her to die. How he acts during the trial also shows that as he defends her to a massive amount that it's less defending and more risking his (and everyone else's) life for her to live so yeah he didn't "sacrifice" Peko that's made clear as day during the second trial. I know you haven't played the game in awhile but I do feel the need to explain it in it's entirety Plus Hiyoko there just acted out of anger as she was pissed Mahiru died not that he "sacrificed" Peko.

Once again, very nice take! Overall, I feel like SDR2 has the most solid cast in the trilogy. I think they're all pretty well written, even among the weaker links, who were talked about here. I actually have always liked Mahiru, and Hiyoko grew on me pretty quickly too. Nekomaru, while I wasn't particularly interested in until the "Mechamaru" arc, he's still a great guy with some great nuance to his character, I just think he could've been utilized a little more, especially earlier on. That leaves Teruteru and Akane, who I feel are probably the two weakest in the group. While Teruteru does have a very human and empathethic reason for what he did, it comes just a bit too late. For the most part, he's just used for comedic effect, and his comedy just didn't work for me. I don't hate the guy, I just wish they struck a better balance between his more grounded and "comedic" traits. Akane is a frustrating character for me. I want to like her, but her stubborness really kills her arc for me. Despite everything her recklessness causes, she never really seems to learn from it, which can be frusturating. I don't hate her, but I feel like she survived way too long without sufficent development, and I can't help but wonder what could've been had they allowed someone like Hiyoko or Ibuki to make it to the end instead.
I feel like the least popular ones are Akane, nekumaru, kazuichi, imposter, usami/monomi and teruteru But I don't really think mahiru and hiyoko are underated Cause people think that ryoma is underated but if you ask someone "whos your top 10 favorite V3 characters" usually ryoma would be there maybe not at the top but he's usually there And that's usually the case for mahiru and hiyoko and if you ask me on of the dumasses who saw alot of spoilers before watching the game and also the idiot who watched the 3rd game first I think that hiyokos pretty popular I saw her alot before I even got into the game along with the other popular ones And I also saw alot of Ibuki, sakara, korekiyo, and Gundam But characters like mikan, hajime, Celeste, and the antagonist are really popular like I saw So much mikan be for even starting my spoiler rampage therefore I feel like some characters aren't as unpopular as the seem Peace 💖😝✌️
I'll comment on the ones in the thumbnail before watching: Nekomaru is awesome, sucks most people don't know it because the writers held most of that awesomeness behind a billion poop jokes. I hate Hiyoko. I know why she acts the way she does, but I don't think it's justifiable. She's also a jerk character done wrong imo since she never gets called out for being a jerk despite always punching down. Mahiru is my favorite girl in this game. I love how grounded she is and how she can be caring and assertive. Like Nekomaru, it's a shame she wasn't used to her full potential. Akane is my 3rd favorite girl(5th or 6th maybe overall) in this game. I get why a lot of people were frustrated with her development, but after seeing her FTE's her arc makes a lot more sense. I mainly liked seeing someone who was initially the comedic relief get more serious in the second half(and that how she grieves is different from what people expect since there's more than one way to do that) Teruteru sucks. I know he has FTE's(which I have seen), I know he cares about his mom, doesn't matter to me. He spends most of his screentime being a perverted ladies man(two tropes I hate for the price of one!) and his FTE's only gave me more reasons to hate him. I say Danganronpa characters aren't as shallow as they appear to some, but not this guy. He is that one dimensional.
I like perverted jokes ngl so teruteru was pretty funny to me, mahiru I like cuz she’s a redhead and she was one of my favorites in the first class trial, hiyoko is one who is ok for me. I like her kinda softening up and even tho I like mikan her insults at mikan did make me laugh once or twice. Nekomaru is just there for me, but he is a character who has other peoples interests first instead of his, so he is a nice addition to have in a killing game. And akane I don’t really care for, I didn’t like her in the main game, but I heard her free time events are good so I guess I’ll check that out sometime.

I LOVED Mahiru!!! She was written so realistically. Even her sprites were very life-like, and I really liked that.
I didnt like Mahiru when I first saw her in lets plays years ago, but in hindsight she really is one of those hidden gems you that need to dig deeper to understand. She truly is realistic and nuanced which makes her one of the most memorable characters. We just dont get to see that in the main story and only through her free times.
Mahiru was one of the few characters who honestly felt complete to me when I played the second game. The only other ones who felt finished were Imposter, Teruteru, Hajime, Chiaki, and Nagito.
Fuyuhiko's development arc felt rushed, Sonia felt underutilized, Kazuichi and Akane became too one-note by the time the fourth chapter came around, Ibuki and Gundham were both severely lacking in development, and didn't have many genuine moments. Hiyoko would've been perfect if her character arc wasn't cut so abruptly for no reason, Peko was wasted potential, and Nekomaru overstayed his welcome just a tad, and didn't really offer much for to the story for him to last so long... and I don't even want to touch on what a mess Mikan is, I seriously can't stand her.

I really don't understand why people think mahiru is a " man hater " since she only really showed hostility towards men at the prologue .
. In chapter 1 during the secret event : she thanks hajime and even stops calling him " unreliable hajime " and says she will start thinking of him as " sometimes helpful hajime "
. In chapter 1 before the dinner party : she feels bad for nagito , for being stuck in cleaning duty . And even says that she thinks he will be a great dad one day
. In chapter 2 : its revealed that she was the only one who regularly checked up on nagito when the others tied him up in the dining hall of the old building so that he didn't starve and even made several trips to the cafeteria when the food she brought nagito didn't seem tasty to him
I think mahiru was a character that was greatly hurt by " first impressions " and since she dies so early she never really gets a chance to change the players impression of her , even tho in the examples I listed she's clearly a sweet person who just wants people to be the best versions of themselves

I think the two facts that Akane is dislike is that she clearly caused the "death" of Nekomaru and that like Sonia she is not a good survivor for me she should have die in chapter 4 in place of Nekomaru.

Mahiru was ok in the main story but in island mode she was so cute and she became my favorite character.
I think in general, ALL the characters were way better during their free time events and in Island mode then they were in the main game. They showed sides to the character that weren't overly present in the main game.
FTEs:
Akane - struggled to provide for her family, because they lived in poverty.
Ibuki - expresses a more genuine side, and her determination to never stop pursing her passions.
Kazuichi - has severe trust issues as a result of hanging around the wrong people.
Nagito - goes through a deep and dubiously true history of the constant hardships he's had to go through, slowly allowing you to understand him better.
Nekomaru - was constantly in and out of the hospital, due to a terminal disease.
Peko - slowly breaks away from her cold exterior, revealing a more relaxed side to her personality.
Sonia - reveals her true fears to you, which allows you to understand her better beyond her strange customs.

One of Danganronpa's biggest problem is taking a character trait and making it a massive part of the character in the main game so they feel either one note, annoying or underdeveloped, good examples would be Nekomaru and his shit stuff, Tenko hating men, and Teruteru and his sexually stuff it sucks because most people will think a lot of those characters suck because they didn't do their free time because they don't like them which is the biggest problem with free time events

I personally hated Mahiru and found her incredibly annoying and self righteous and was actually surprised most people didn’t hate her. Though on subsequent play-throughs I don’t hate her as much as I did but she is still one of my most disliked characters.

I hate how the fandom ignores how Mahiru treated Nagito and Mikan she is probably the nicest person in the Island, and even if she think their behaviour is kinda weird, she still talks to them as if they are her friends. She was the only one who took care of Nagito, and she was probably the most respectful person against Mikan. I'm not counting Imposter since they didn't talked that much with Mikan until Danganronpa 3 and they never realized about Nagito's dementia (Though they're a smartass, so they would have figured out)

I absolutely love Nekomaru and Akane, it's why they are my favorite characters in the entire series. They have really great development and character, especially when they grow together. I love Akane's growth from someone who hides her weakness behind her confidence and strenght to someone who understands that showing emotions and weakness is okay. Nekomaru meant a lot to her as a person and kickstarted the growth she needed. Their bond is unbreakable and it's nice to see.

I think that Mahiru is kinda like Peko in the sense where she's a character that people generally like but don't have it as favorites. In a sense she's very similar to Tenko since both have some sorta stigma against men (Tenko is way worse imo) and were best friends of a small girl for whom they died for in a way (if Hiyoko's development wasn't scrapped the patterns would have continued, that is if she had one after chapter 3).
Hm yeah it's shame that Nekomaru feels like he only died in chapter 4 because of the "buff character dies" pattern but I still think he was a great character that was very inspirational to the rest of the cast and I really love his friendship with Akane (I personally kinda see it as something more cause they just have that chemistry).
Akane is like the definition of B+ character for me, I think that she might be on the bottom of unpopular with Teruteru since people don't really look to know about her (I.e free time events) and only label her as a dumb and reckless girl that loves eating (I also think that her being a dark skinned athlete and with a big chest just like Asahina doesn't help).
Teruteru is actually pretty loveable. I love his perverted personality, as he’s both into girls and boys. His motive was completely understandable. Teruteru wanted to see his ill mother to see if she was okay, as well as hoping to see the family restaurant again.
Mahiru is one of my least favourites, but she’s not unlikeable. She’s pretty relatable and her backstory with Fuyuhiko’s sister is pretty interesting.
Hiyoko is a really funny character, as she’s quite a little bully to most people. I’d personally say she and Mahiru are more likeable than Mikan. I also love the fact that she’s pretty mean, for a girl who looks younger than her peers.
Nekomaru is awesome! Even for a big muscled guy, he’s actually quite kind and is mostly Akane’s trainer. The dying scene with Nekomaru and Akane was really emotional and really shows how much Nekomaru cares for her. As for Mechumaru, not as much, but he still sets the same character vibe.
Akane is quite underrated in my book. I like how in the first couple of trials, she barely said anything and only contributed to giving Hajime proof a handful of times. Because of that, she managed to survive the Killing Game, which is pretty impressive. Although not as smart as some of the other students, she’s able to get help out and remain strong, despite the troubles throughout the game.

Just going to trow my opnion out there: Gundam and Nekomaru are my favs, so you can imagine that chapter 4 was an emotional rollercoaster for me.

Hiyoko is...honestly not just my least favorite character in DR2. She's my least favorite character in the entire franchise. Mean or brutally honest characters can be great. I love Fuyuhiko, Kokichi, Junko, and Celeste (well...Celeste until chapter 3). But oh my God. Everything out of Hiyoko's mouth is just so grating. All the time. She's not even a funny kinda bitchy like Kokichi or Miu. She's just...bitchy. Chapter 3 may have been the worst one in the game (as third chapters tend to be in Danganronpa) but if there's one thing I gotta give it credit for, it's having her die at the hands of the person she tormented the most. And by complete chance, at that XD
Teruteru - I liked him in the 1st trial, but for the rest of the game (so, like the rest of chapter 1 lol), I was just more annoyed with him. Personally not a fan.
Hiyoko - Honestly enjoyed her. Yes, she can be abrasive, but she doesn't sugar coat shit. I appreciate that bluntness. Honestly, I think she died too soon. I think she still had more story to tell.
Mahiru - Loved her. I'm generally more a fan of the down to earth characters as opposed to the larger than life ones. She was immediately one of my favs and honestly could have taken a leadership position after Imposter died if she had lived longer.
Nekomaru - Nah. Too loud, shit jokes got old. Didn't hate him, but far from one of my favs.
Akane - For a character that was in the game as long as she was, she didn't really make much of an impression on me. I liked that she didn't get too affected by the bullshit, but for the most part, she was just kinda "there."
I honestly felt like Hiyoko got way too much hate... people like to write her off as being nothing more than a one-dimensional bully character, who never contributed much of anything, and died when she could've recieved her own development arc. But honestly, I felt like we got more out of her character than most of the others.
People tend to dislike her for being angry at Fuyuhiko in chapter 2, despite him playing a role in the murder of her best friend, who she got the blame for. She had every right to be mad at him, and she had a realistic approach to slowly but surely forgiving him. Not many other characters had gone through a significant change like that, especially not in the second game... Seriously, I want someone to name another character in the second game who went through anything like that.... there isn't, every other character was fairly one-note, and stagnated from start to finish.
I disliked Akane because of the way the game heavily sexualized her (not actually a character problem) Hiyoko because she was foul mouthed brat, and I feel like that’s why I despise Miu more than even Kokichi in V3.
Miu is my absolute least favorite from the main 3 games. I don't really mind Akane, and I dislike Hiyoko and Teruteru.
I like miu a lot more than hiyoko because she words it in a way that's comedic rather than just making her unlikeably mean. when miu says insults I laugh, when hiyoko does it I feel like strangling her

I honestly feel like Teruteru is one of the best *written* characters in the game. As a person I fucking hate him, but as a character he might be one of the best written in the series! He’s only around for one chapter, but he gets so much depth in that time. He’s not just a pervert, he’s a mama’s boy who would do anything to keep his mom safe. He’s embarrassed of being from (wherever he’s actually from, I don’t remember), so he puts on the character of a sleazy big-city chef. He’s a perv, sure, but there is so much more to him and I live for it!
His main thing is that he is a perv tho. Tbh in my opinion he is nothing but a perv but again we dont see him much in game he could have changed but they killed him off

Here we go again. My opinions on the characters before watching part 2!
Teruteru: Obviously one of the most unpopular characters in the series. I think the fandom gives him too much crap, Sure he may be a pervert. But he still really cares about his fellow classmates. His father was a sleeze ball, I believe he took his fathers personality traits, Which made him what he is, Though I'm not justifying sexual harassment, I think your parental figures have control on who you become, Even without choice. And in his final moments. It shown that he really cares, we was just backed up into a corner like Sayaka was. Though he's not really one of my faves. he's still a cool dude.
Mahiru: Honestly her just being in the group is comforting. Their are so many interesting characters in Danganronpa that we need a more "normal" character to balance it out. Though she does show hostility towards men. Its shown that she just wants the best out of everyone. And I'm glad they didn't really go tragic on why she's more bossy towards boys, she's just a sweet gal that's really nice to be around!
Hiyoko: Since I haven't seen her freetime/Backstory's, I cant really show a true opinion, She's just a mixed bag for me. I like how she's trying to change, But I want her to just shut up most of the time, That's all I got...
Nekomaru: A true sweetheart, I love em. Though he's not my fave, He's a really nice dude. His backstory is really heart warming yet sad. He's a true bro. He's willing to sacrifice alot just to protect whos important to him. I just really love the guy. I cant say much else-
Akane: Though I don't like her behavior, She's just a tragic gal.. Seeing a corpse in the dumpster every morning that its normal biz for her. Being harassed by her mothers boyfriends. Having her to work hard do that her 7-8 siblings can survive. She really went through alot, And I just feel bad. She cares alot about them. She trys to give em a good life, In one of her event squares in V3's post game. She wanted to go see Himiko's magic show and take the siblings with them, Which I found cute. Though she can be as dumb as a rock, She's a sweet gal.

Hiyoko was taken away from her parents and the Saionji family is a common target for assassinations. People who are jealous of Hiyoko poison her food, put mice in her bed, put pins in her shoes and try to drop stage lights on her. That’s all I know about her backstory.

Something about Hiyoko: Fuyuhiko was originally supposed to be one of the two victims in chapter 3. But pretty late into the development of the game, he was saved, and Hiyoko was put in his place instead. This is made obvious since Fuyu had his arc completed at the time, which is why his character falls flat in the latter half of the game (at least in my opinion). We couldve had Hiyoko as a survivor, and I would've loved to see what her finished arc would've looked like. I'm so upset she didnt make it, I loved her 😭

I’ll share my takes, per habit:
Nidai’s shtick is in extremely poor taste. Compared to the rest of the SDR2 characters, who immediately (for some reason) attract cutesy awe, terrifying and disgusting Nidai Nekomaru ends up repulsing members of the fandom from spending their FTEs with him and getting to know the precious beating heart within. Same for Hanamura (the pervert shtick isn’t cute), but his FTEs don’t actually give him any redeeming qualities lol
Owari Akane is difficult to understand and doesn’t leave a huge impression. SDR2 caters to the sappy side (with every survivor having lost someone they bonded with except Souda) of the fandom; not at all a bad thing. But Owari is brash and seems careless with her beau Nidai. Again, doesn’t exactly inspire the interest in the main story to invest in her FTEs. The only reason I found myself doing them was I’d already maxed Kuzuryuu and Nanami, the only surviving characters I cared about.
Koizumi and Saionji are for similar reasons: they’re mostly rude in the main storyline. Especially Saionji, who picks on pitiful-looking Tsumiki and who has some… interesting sprites. Koizumi wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t a guy hater, which I imagine got tiring since she died before she managed to do anything else in the main story. Her FTEs don’t redeem her in particular, either, since she doesn’t receive a particularly soppy backstory compared to other SDR2 characters. Similarly, her friend Saionji suffers the same treatment since Saionji’s early FTEs don’t inspire much sympathy with her.

I don’t like Mahiru because she is an objectively bad person she covered up a murder. That’s not morally gray that straight evil. I also don’t think to highly of people who naturally gravitate to other bad people notice how she chooses the animal killer (most common trait in serial killers is harming animals as a child) in Hyoko to be friends and she loves to antagonize Fuyuhiko despite him really just choosing be alone stirring up problems that don’t need to exist. She just surrounds herself with negativity which is what negative people do. She gives off the air of the entitled brat who finds and causes problems that don’t need to exist and is a generally annoying presence in the community that everyone rolls their eyes at when they go for a lecture. Like I assume everyone had that one kid in class that always talked as him they were the moral authority on everything and they were a big of an ass, despite often not being the best person or even being a down-right terrible person. While she isn’t a perfect representation of that stereotype she just gives me that vibe. Despite that I do really like her character for the role she plays in the 2 chapters of being the cause of drama. It was fun to see the Wendy’s mascot piss off Fuyuhiko and try to defend Hyoko despite her really being indefensible.
Teruteru: Teruteru is a fine character, but he just does SO MUCH to make me hate him.
Mahiru: (nice pick on Calisto Yew's theme for her) Mahiru is good. She works well in the Danganronpa formula, but she had so little time to show it off. I don't hate her; she's just an overwheling meh to me.
Hiyoko: Idk how people hate her. Her roasts are savage and her Celeste-isms are what drew me to her. There were times she got a bit whinny at times, but they were appropriate.
Nekomaru: It's another Mahiru. I like him, but after awhile he just became a meh to me.
Akane: Akane was very delightful, but I felt she got carried in the back half of the game. She was ok in chapter 4, but afterwards she doesn't do much imo.
My favorites from the unpopular characters are hiyoko and akane

One thought that I tend to disagree with in the video is that Junko's goal is to kill as many students as fast as possible. That's part of her goal but she has to do a lot of different things to prevent boredom and she wants her plan to have a possibility of failure. Junko actively keeps characters alive after the chapter four body discovery when she's not obligated too. I think that's part of creating the net to lure in more cast. All to throw up her plan in the air and not know if she will win or not.

The Monokubs should be included in V3's list. Unlike the other two games I've seem an almost universal fanbase defense squad for pretty much every character in V3 beside Tsumugi, Meanwhile people just try and act like the Monokubs don't even exist most of the time. They don't even seem to hate the Monokubs, they just often don't even acknowledge their existence. Like I've seen people make tier lists and story explanation videos that don't include or mention the kubs in any capacity despite being a pretty major part of the game (appearing in every single chapter alive, enforcing the Exisal's involvement by cleaning up the school, not being around anymore so the remaining characters can use the Exisals for Case 5, Enforcing not breaking the rules, getting involved in the executions ECT.) I'd say they're unpopular
i agree with the five you picked but i would actually change hiyoko for peko or the imposter,, since she is more overhated than underrated^^ (and honestly i swear its not because I LOVE peko ,, but i never actually see much of her fans in the fandom, same for the imp, i love him sm but theres actually little content for him)

I always felt like Mikan deserved more hate to be honest... she's a victim of social and sexual abuse who is constantly put in these awkward, fanservicy poses for comedic effect, that's just flat-out wrong.
Its a sin not putting Twogami as one of the least popular character. He is the most underrated character in the game

Teruteru: I honestly enjoy him despite Pervy Antics (Honestly I don't get TOO frustrated with Pervy characters). He has a great design, fun character and his chapter 1 murder trail is honestly one of the bests for the mystery itself, with his plan to kill Nagito, turning into the murder of Twogami, his great breakdown with change of accent and his story of wanting to see if his mother is okay.
Mahiru: She is a character I really enjoy, being really helpful during her first investigation and having fun interactions with characters. I also like her differences with Tenko, as Mahiru normally wants to see men at least do their best, while Tenko will despise men due to a misunderstanding and blind hatred. Wish she lived longer but she was a good character while she was around, and one of the most normal ones honestly. Honestly the points you brought up to made me appreciate her even more. I honestly like characters with flaws, so it was nice to realise them through this video.
Hiyoko: Honestly I enjoy characters that change up the dynamic, and her being a little sh*t is fun. I understand why people don't like her, with the bullying of Mikan and such, but she makes for fun interactions and I can understand her frustrations as well. Still it would have been nice if she wasn't killed off her character development, if only some meh character decided to grab a mirror for Hiyoko so she could tie her Kimono, right Sonia?
Nekomaru: I feel so sad for this character, cause despite surviving till Chapter 4, he only appears in 2 trails, and 3 Chapters, getting cut off from a lot of screen time. I don't have too much to say about him, but he was a fun ride and wished he had more time to shine.
Akane:... Yeah... she's probably one of my least favourite Danganronpa characters. I think she just bugs me a lot. I don't enjoy her character arc (despite me getting a better understanding of it through Aeris's video on her), I dislike how she feels like she copies many things from Asahina. Insert Plot Convenient Stomach and MY GOSH, I HATE THAT HORRIBLE CRYING SOUND SHE MAKES. It is literally one of the most grating things I hate to hear. and I dislike how she doesn't seem to care about Nekomaru too much, where when Nekomaru comes back and despite Fuyuhiko warning her (and her not listening properly) she wastes her time, Nekomaru gets killed and it feels like she doesn't get much stakes in the Chapter 4 Class Trail, where it feels she doesn't care about him at all.
I love Akana and Hiyoko, i wish that Hiyoko was a survivor

I personally think kazuichi would probably be considered worse than nechumaru (due to all the Sonia stuff). And nechu was cool! And I actually (personally) think mikan is worse than Akane, though my enjoyment of Akane is largely based on me playing a barbarian in dnd and she’s been great inspiration for that haha (and I got too into classing all the other characters).
Will say that teru and kazuichi are my least favs. Pervs are my least favorite anime trope I wish would die. Also some of the teru hate is his ugly design (I hate it) and the kind of racist American voice which aren’t HIS fault but still I find off putting.
As for mahiru, I think I just didn’t get to know her well enough to have much of an opinion on her. She seemed mildly annoying but I didn’t hate her.

Nekomaru is one of my favorites. Aside from him being a great dude and always helping others (his free times are really good), he has some pretty helpful moments in the first two trials, he really gave Fuyuhiko a kick in the head before he sacrificed himself for Akane, and he sacrificed himself again so the others could escape the Funhouse. He gets slept on hard, and I think that's because he's absent for so long in chapter 3, which I think was a bad writing decision.
Oh... Now that I saw the part of what they were talking about Fuyuhiko and Akane as they investigated, I am now much more sorry for the scene in which she regrets never thanking Nekomaru for saving her 😔😞
So is this all about how people feel about characters
It's less obvious than Nekomaru, but Kyoko disappears a lot too. She never outright misses a trial (though she's late to trial 5) but you can notice that she's not available during freetime once she gets the skeleton key and starts investigating the second floor of the dorms.
She always hid her true feelings she was the true monster

Hmm... While I can't really speak for the DR2 cast as I don't know them that well, I'd say out of the two I dislike the most, only one of them made it in this video. That being Teruteru. The other one, who didn't make it, is Mikan. To me, it seems like she has a "I'm so weak, I can't do anything" attitude that really annoys me. I would have said that Gundham was annoying too, but the thing is, the more I learn about him, the more I begin to like him. He is still not a favorite though and will probably never be. My favorites, not in order, are Nagito, Akane and Fuyuhiko. Ibuki is also growing on me and she could potentially become a favorite.
The imposter is less popular than Mahiru I can't find anything for them

Fuyuhiko did not decide to "sacrifice" Peko. She intervened and took Mahiru out herself, it was *HER* decision. She is to blame not Fuyuhiko, yes he *TRIED* to kill Mahiru but he didn't, that's the same with Miu, Sayaka and Maki they all tried to kill someone (Kokichi for Miu and Maki and Leon for Sayaka) and it failed either with them dying (Gonta killing Miu and Leon killing Sayaka) or someone else killing the person they wanted to kill instead (Kaito killing Kokichi instead of Maki killing Kokichi). That's the thing here he did not want Peko to die his reaction before her execution proves that as he says that he doesn't want her to go and that he still needs her, insinuating that he did not want her to die. How he acts during the trial also shows that as he defends her to a massive amount that it's less defending and more risking his (and everyone else's) life for her to live so yeah he didn't "sacrifice" Peko that's made clear as day during the second trial. I know you haven't played the game in awhile but I do feel the need to explain it in it's entirety
Plus Hiyoko there just acted out of anger as she was pissed Mahiru died not that he "sacrificed" Peko.

Once again, very nice take! Overall, I feel like SDR2 has the most solid cast in the trilogy. I think they're all pretty well written, even among the weaker links, who were talked about here. I actually have always liked Mahiru, and Hiyoko grew on me pretty quickly too. Nekomaru, while I wasn't particularly interested in until the "Mechamaru" arc, he's still a great guy with some great nuance to his character, I just think he could've been utilized a little more, especially earlier on.
That leaves Teruteru and Akane, who I feel are probably the two weakest in the group. While Teruteru does have a very human and empathethic reason for what he did, it comes just a bit too late. For the most part, he's just used for comedic effect, and his comedy just didn't work for me. I don't hate the guy, I just wish they struck a better balance between his more grounded and "comedic" traits.
Akane is a frustrating character for me. I want to like her, but her stubborness really kills her arc for me. Despite everything her recklessness causes, she never really seems to learn from it, which can be frusturating. I don't hate her, but I feel like she survived way too long without sufficent development, and I can't help but wonder what could've been had they allowed someone like Hiyoko or Ibuki to make it to the end instead.
I feel like the least popular ones are
Akane, nekumaru, kazuichi, imposter, usami/monomi and teruteru
But I don't really think mahiru and hiyoko are underated
Cause people think that ryoma is underated but if you ask someone "whos your top 10 favorite V3 characters" usually ryoma would be there maybe not at the top but he's usually there
And that's usually the case for mahiru and hiyoko and if you ask me on of the dumasses who saw alot of spoilers before watching the game and also the idiot who watched the 3rd game first I think that hiyokos pretty popular I saw her alot before I even got into the game along with the other popular ones
And I also saw alot of Ibuki, sakara, korekiyo, and Gundam
But characters like mikan, hajime, Celeste, and the antagonist are really popular like I saw So much mikan be for even starting my spoiler rampage therefore I feel like some characters aren't as unpopular as the seem

Nekomaru is awesome, sucks most people don't know it because the writers held most of that awesomeness behind a billion poop jokes.
I hate Hiyoko. I know why she acts the way she does, but I don't think it's justifiable. She's also a jerk character done wrong imo since she never gets called out for being a jerk despite always punching down.
Mahiru is my favorite girl in this game. I love how grounded she is and how she can be caring and assertive. Like Nekomaru, it's a shame she wasn't used to her full potential.
Akane is my 3rd favorite girl(5th or 6th maybe overall) in this game. I get why a lot of people were frustrated with her development, but after seeing her FTE's her arc makes a lot more sense. I mainly liked seeing someone who was initially the comedic relief get more serious in the second half(and that how she grieves is different from what people expect since there's more than one way to do that)
Teruteru sucks. I know he has FTE's(which I have seen), I know he cares about his mom, doesn't matter to me. He spends most of his screentime being a perverted ladies man(two tropes I hate for the price of one!) and his FTE's only gave me more reasons to hate him. I say Danganronpa characters aren't as shallow as they appear to some, but not this guy. He is that one dimensional.

I like perverted jokes ngl so teruteru was pretty funny to me, mahiru I like cuz she’s a redhead and she was one of my favorites in the first class trial, hiyoko is one who is ok for me. I like her kinda softening up and even tho I like mikan her insults at mikan did make me laugh once or twice. Nekomaru is just there for me, but he is a character who has other peoples interests first instead of his, so he is a nice addition to have in a killing game. And akane I don’t really care for, I didn’t like her in the main game, but I heard her free time events are good so I guess I’ll check that out sometime.
