it takes a VERY experienced rider to out ride any of these bikes. Meaning at the end of the day, performance aside, buy the one you like best.
I couldn't agree more, I've only ridden a few years, a FZ8 and an FZ-09. Looking at getting my next bike in a few months and the Tuono is a bike i really like but i feel is too much bike for me IMO, would never be able to get the most out of it aside from track use. The Speed Triple on the other hand is a bike that i think is more of a perfect all-arounder.
Happy to see someone finally giving EBR some love. It deserves to be reviewed against this class of bikes. Now let's see the RX in a sportbike shootout.
No, I am NOT getting tired of the streetfighter shootouts. :)
That's probably cause we're getting older, love the power, but now at 54 I want comfort. Even my ZX14R is bit much for the city.
Call me greedy but I love them all and want them all
Nastuf me too
typical MCN fanboy
The EBR wins for me in every category, it is the quickest, the lightest, the best on fuel, it has a chain idler which massively helps chain life, and improves final drive feel. Not to mention it is quiet cheap, and is extremely reliable in every aspect it is a no brained for me as the others are either more expensive, or just can't keep up in the twisters or on urban streets.
this has to be one of the best shootouts or bike reviews i have seen and i have seen a lot. the level of experience and knowledge here is great, great intro, solid no nonsense information. 5 stars guys, well done.
I am pushing thumbs up before even watching the clip.. why because it is winter and yet we get a shootout! Perfect :D
You're correct! I live in Ohio and yesterday was the first day I rode in weeks.
giff74 I'm in California and i just rode home for 30 miles at 12am in my jacket and pant in 40° weather, glad I moved and can ride year long
OneWheel Up the dream man. One of my 2017 goals - move to Cali! Seriously craving yearlong riding
I love my Buell, and would love an EBR even more. Congrats to Erik for making a truly world class motorcycle, enough to hang with (and even pass in some ways) these other amazing machines.
Reporting in from New Hampshire where I'm happy to have a dry day above 45 degrees F. These videos keep me sane during the winter. Bless them!!
Very informative. Glad to see the EBR get some love here.
Definitely not bored... can't get enough of these elite sport bike shoot-outs. Keep them coming !
Great video guys and I can tell you guys really upped the production value.
these reviews are great! Keep it up. I'm still trying to decide which to buy and this info is soooo useful before the test rides...
Awesome awesome awesome
Seriously this shootout is the best I've seen... From the intense intro to the bikes themselves.... Keep up the awesome job you guys are doing 😀
And the next shootout of these with the new Black lightening EBR will be awesome! Love every one of these bikes
Great job on the video editing! Such a fun watch.
Love the engine sound comparison going on there
I have test rode many streetfighters but that EBR... whoa! Never rode anything that nimble and easy to turn at over 1000cc. The unique brakes and awesome low center of gravity because of the fuel-in-frame... it oozes character in this roundup (although never rode the Tuono R or fZ-10).
Great video. The production is getting way better! Thanks
EBR's are awesome for the riders who like to push their limits, the bike is super stable at its limit.
Perfect way to end a year. I can on the account of all bikers out there, thank you!!!
*Im starting to fall in love with EBR*
Fall in love with Buell XB 5 years ago , )) Maybe some days I can buy EBR SX or Buell 1125 CR ))
MoTremor Update i bought a EBR 1190rx and love it.Paid $9995 $11500 after all said and done with delivery
Night Rider Now in Russia all in economics go to the collapse and so difficult to earn money for buy a new bike 😕😣
What dealer did you buy it from? I can't find any in Nevada!
Awesome job guys! The more shootouts the better. Can't wait to see the '17 Tuono vs the '17 Super Duke!
I am so not sick of shootouts, keep doing them!
Never bored of naked bike shootouts, keep them coming guys. Next one..Super Duke R
I am so glad to finally see an EBR in a shootout/review as there are too many people who still think they are out of business. I think it's sad how many people still hate on them...just for being different.
Thanks to the Motorcycle.com guys for the cool reviews and this one as well. It's helped me evaluate bikes on my to buy list. Hard to pick one particular bike in this group which shows how good bike builds are getting.
Great video! And no, not until I own a Super Duke or a Tuono will I ever get bored with seeing you guys have fun on these bikes. So..... I'm given you 5 or 6 more years haha. Once I'm out of college, then we'll see. Keep up the great work guys :D
that Triumph looks freaking beautiful from the side view. EBR looks cool too.
a little EBR love :') beautiful, I just hope Erik can make a comeback.
I love the videos just as much, keep them up!
I'm happy that the video editing is crisp 10/10. Did you guys sack the editor and replace him with a new one? Or am I missing something here?
The first 30 seconds I wondered the same thing. I hope this awesome quality continues!
Follow your vids from south of France , very nice ! Thanks
Between the Aprilia and EBR for me... followed by the Yamaha.
Great comparison, MT10 wins for practically, Japanese reliability, overall comfort and has a decent cruise control for taking the long ride home.
FZ10 is hands down the best bike featured in this video.
In some other reality, perhaps.
Hell no not getting bored with them, keepem commin! lol you guys mention so many good points
Absolutely love streetfighter bikes. So much better for road than supersports. Thank you guys so much for the input. I'm dead set on tuono for me. Keep doin the shootouts. Here's hoping the 2017 Aprilia is even better! Cheers
aprillia definitly sounds the best, but id buy the fz10
The others outclass the FZ-10 seriously, though. I guess if you're trying to save cash...
Steve C Give yamaha a break will you? Everywhere I see you you're bashing on them
Because the bike literally is in a lower class than the other super-nakeds. No sense in sugar-coating it. If this gets you butt-hurt, then maybe the Internet isn't for you.
Chris Fokjohn The only thing wrong with a yamaha is the rider !! FZ 10 is the one,
You do you, but it fz10 is the most street-able and financially solid choice. And in my perspective, street fighters are more appealing than sport bikes for their comfort, so I can sacrifice a bit of performance for comfort. But honestly, I too would drop a more few $ and get a s1000r ;) (I see what you're saying though)
Thank you Eric Buell for coming back around to us people on a budget! As soon as grab another Buell, I'll die a happy man 😎👍
On my second Tuono...upgraded to the V4 from V2. Honestly, I ride the damn thing to listen to the engine. Open it up and the engine just sings.😇
i test rode a tuono 2017 bike and on the highway i was able to stretch its legs only to the bottom of second and it hit 105 leaned all the way over on a turn along the highway cause i was the last one in the group once we reached the highway portion. The engine noise was a beautiful noise. Still getting the mt10
Great honest video guys, it sure is a tough choice. Love those Drone shots!
IMO:
1 Aprillia. 2 EBR. 3 Yamaha. 4 Triumph
Great video, this is the second time I've watched it. I always wanted the Triumph Triple, love the look and sound. When I looked at and road the MT-10 I really liked it and the price point made it better. I've just done the Woolich Race tune and man it's fun. If I won lotto I'd get a few more bikes in my garage, the MT-10 is a keeper.
You guys have the best job on the planet
Aprilia is amazing if you are ready to live with the unreliability & problems
LIST of errors from an Aprilia Forum:
• Stock headlights are poor
• the horn - it's not a very good
• Master Cylinder has/had a recall - ALL
• Low Speed Fueling Glitch (Stock Trim, 5-15% to 0%) - Feels like hitting KILL button.
• Models made before 9/28/2015; the rear sprocket bolts may become loose. (AF1 sells a "fix" kit). - ALL (before 9/28/2015)
• Quickshifter has been reported to not quite work well. Sometimes False Neutrals. - 9* - Not determined if user error, or systemic issue.
• Gear shifts not a smooth as prior model - 2
• Dash Dim/ goes blank and returns to normal. Dash Reflash IS available - 6
• Hot Start Issue - 3 (CAUSE: one user saw starter cable was routed improperly causing it to melt and short onto the cylinder head.
• Weeping front fork seal - 1
• Sachs shock's rebound adjuster recently went from -10 clicks out to -20 - 1
• Bike accelerated by itself whilst warming up to operating temperature. Happens intermittently. and when slowing down for a junction almost as if the rpm drops too low and the ecu tries to speed it up again, only ever happened in the motors warm up phase and around 2000rpm (I think)...........................no fix as I just pull the clutch in to stop it, bike does not then rev up it just settles to idle
• Engine loss at 1800 miles. - 1
• Replaced by Aprilia under warranty
• Shifting from 2, 3 or 4 gears on up shift only and only once every thirty mile or so on shift and hard acceleration the bike has no power for about 1 full second - 2
• After 5.000km my dealer noticed leaking of my fuel. There was a puddle with a diameter of 10cm under the driver’s seat. - 1
• New fuel tank from Aprilia. Warranty.
• Bike stall while in gear, off gas (while moving)
you can say that about all bikes . Those places are for people with problems if you go there you are going to see nothing more . Go to BMW forum or ducati for example it's the same problems
Give the FZ10 a year and you're going to see all those brought up on a forum somewhere, too. Some people are harsh on bikes, some bikes had manufacturing problems, some bikes are just fine but the owners are idiots. LOL
The American sportbike....interesting!
TJTheRager EBR has a more sport oriented version called the 1190RX. Exactly the same power train (engine & gearing), just different front end & ergonomics. Check it out!
Impressive. Much better production than past videos from Mo.
This video is spot on on all points!
We'll definitely need a new shootout when you can get your hands on the updated Aprilia and KTM though.
My personal humble opinion: , , , nothing will ever take the place of Buell XB12 lightning as a bad ass manly super funky hot street fighter..not now not ever.
I liked the looks of buell but given it was by harley I questioned its reliability. Motorcycle are my means of transportation if it breaks I dont make money
Great video guys, beautifully shot. If you could shoot and upload in 60fps it would make the action shots even better.
great review
Loved the video
I've watched this review around 20X now. Purchasing another SX is inevitable for me, its perfect.... RAW street fighter. No bells and whistles just raw.
Your editor is on point!
1:04 That intro is rad
agree - 6:30 makes my private parts tingle too!
Thanks for the video guys. I'm thinking the EBR would be the most fun to ride.
I love my sx. Handles very well. Power is an understatement !
Stunning open, great job
Im going to check out the new Buell.
As always, it comes down to which bike gives you the fizzy feeling in your gentleman's bits.
FZ-10 (or Mt-10) has grown on me a lot lately. I will try the MT-10 SP this summer.
I’m going to get my first bike but I’m really Confuse what to get the FZ 7 or Fz 9 or Fz 10
damn a shot at Kawasaki Z1000...maybe it'll motivate em but that cannon ball hit Honda directly in the genitals @ 3:03
Dude, seriously! Is the CB that shitty? lol
I hope they see this video! Damn CB1000R is still beautiful but no longer competition to these..
Jacob Guerra I love my Z, wasn't a fan of the CB. Don't particularly care for the looks and I've heard it's just a dated machine at this point.
MrTemjin I would have liked to see Kawi step up their game with the Z1000 but I guess they directed funds at creating a few different nakeds instead. Z900 and Z650 😕
Jacob CB is still considered the best bike to ride WHEN it gets in these shootouts, the lack of HP makes it a better all rounder. Thing is, it is the same bike since 2008 with no changes It can no longer compete against new machines. But normally the cb1000r derives from a supersports, so with the new Fireblade out we MIGHT have a new CB coming soon (in the next 2 years).
ONE_BAD_Z I still dont get why they made a Z900....
Great test guys. Miss you at Motorcyclist JB!! I still love my '98 Bandit 1200S. I'd take the FZ-10.
Love it. No bad choices. Great time to be a motorcyclist. I went with the FZ-10 for all the reasons stated + IMHO cost of ownership and reliability. Very happy with my decision.
I'm a Triumph guy, but the more I see the fz10 on one wheel, the more I love it. The aprilia sounds amazing but I feel like I would be too big on the bike at 6'1
ALLDAYANTHONY dude I have a Tuono and I'm 6'2. It's comfy, not all day comfy but it's sweet to ride in between petrol stops!
why is the tuono a naked bike? isn't that a fairing?
shush, don't question superior italian design
Draven Legaspi its like a headlamp fairing and a lower cowling but yea much more covered than the others
What road is the closing shot taken? Or the whole shoot out for that matter...?
The sound of that V4 is awesome
This video is why I bought my 2017 FZ-10
Gorgeous background on the panel review!
I'll take the Tuono.
Does anyone know of a (street fighter/naked bike) ridding group near LA?
Love these streetfighter shootouts, I know its a bit of a boutique bike (like the Buell) but please bring a MV Dragster RR to the next one!
Think if I could have any I'd take the EBR just because it's so different and so 'hard' of a race bike at such a low cost. Really a nice bike, IMO.
All awesome bikes.
Tough choice between the Triumph and the EBR.
Once you get rid of the secondary muffler on the EBR, it sounds ferocious.
With a Dean Adams full pipe it sounds fucking insane
Honda needs to get off of their butt and update the Honda Cb1000r already.
Someone explain to me how is the tuono a naked bike with front fairing?
Crank Rated horsepower and torque numbers off all the bikes in this shootout.
Aprilia Tuono 1100R: 175hp 88.5ft lbs.
EBR 1190SX: 185hp and 101.6ft lbs.
Triumph Speed Triple R: 140hp and 82.6ft lbs.
Yamaha FZ10: 158hp and 81.9ft lbs.
I like these. Keep them coming. Looking forward to seeing the new Super Duke compared. How does the S1000R compare to these?
what bar end mirrors are on the streeple?
The production quality is through the roof. As of late the just fantastic.... must be new video equipment or a new produce/editing. Music as well
You guys titled the video like it's a BAD thing...JOKE'S ON YOU. LOL.
Nah, seriously, good work guys. 👍
Almost forgot: AUTOBOTS, ASSEMBLE !!
What about straight line/drag/freeway performance for those of us who do not live near any twisties?..like Houston? Please include in your reviews.
Are most of these wheelies in 1st or 2nd gear?
Mostly second IIRC.
I only have 1 question. what road is that ???
Where is this amazing road without central marking @ 0:09 that you guys always do tests on?
Love it!
we love this catagory shoot out
It's like deciding which child you love more 🤣
That v4 sound tho it's deff my next bike in the factory addition tho
Are you kidding me?!! This is like "The Dream Team" of bikes. haha. The EBR wins every time. It's rare, the founder is still alive, and it's made in America.
Kind of wished you guys included the updated Superduke, the monster 1200r and maybe just for the sake of it the s1000r
But non the less, a gret shootout as always from you guys, and a big thumbs up from me (Y)
Great reviews. please include an MV Brutale in your next shootout!
Can you please add a segment in your videos to talk about the roads you ride in ?
Anyone know where these canyon roads are?
there's something so cool about nearing red line on an analog tach, these digital ones look like they came off a 89 300zx. or how certain c4 corvettes had fake digital displays
I think it's fair to say the team prefer streetfighters to baggers!
Cazzy R .
8
KTM SuperDuke R ?
17K MSRP, not in same ball park.
Swapnil Chopade not new for '16
Would automatically win. No point in watching the video if it was in it
Very unstable at high shake all over
For over 20K I'll wait couple years until it's more refined. Why Kawasaki taken away the ZRX 1200 replaced it with the Z1000 beyond me.
