In this video we visit the warehouse of one of our biggest customers to show you what to look for in a real world warehouse management system. There are 6 basic functions to look for in any warehouse management.
1. Receiving - Scan product against purchase orders, print out pallet labels, and receive product into the warehouse.
2. Check-In - Check product into any bin by scanning the pallet and the QR code/barcode on the bin location itself. This ties the pallet, quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates to the bin location.
3. Picking - Have sales orders transmit directly to the warehouse management scanners. The system will tell the user exactly where to go to pick the product within the warehouse. The user will scan the bin location to ensure that they are picking the correct product. The WMS will capture the product lot number/expiration date at this time.
4. Transfer - Transfer product to/from bin locations in the warehouse using first in first out. Initiate a transfer and the system will show you where to transfer product from/to depending on the expiration date of the product. You can set up the product to work with FIFO.
5. Cycle Counts - Having a warehouse management system makes so you can cycle count your picking bins ONLY. No more having to count the entire warehouse in order to get an accurate inventory value.
6. Route Returns - A WMS should be able to track all of the product going onto your delivery trucks and off your delivery trucks. This way you can track whether or not your drivers are stealing from you. This will also enable you to pinpoint the whereabouts of all product at all times.

Thanks for the video, i'm a Full Stack Software Developer understanding the basics of how inventory management system works.
Thank you so much for this! It really helps a lot for my Architectural thesis! 💯
I just started a course about WMS ..and i was looking for someone to simplify it for me thanks alot man..just reading the describtion gives alot of info
Glad it helped!
that live demo is very insightful..I'll recommend my Hindi audiance in same domain to watch your video.
Great videos! I've worked in warehousing for almost 20 years now, funny at 2:44 the blue plastic pallet in the background standing up right is a no no in most companies I've seen people get write ups for leaving pallets like that obviously they could fall and hit someone in the ankle or foot lol great channel overall though!
Agreed. a little careless on their end haha
thank you so much for these videos, i am currently doing my architectural thesis study project, these help a lot!
Glad you like them!
Great tutorial for Real Warehouse Management System.
Hey Micky that’s an Awesome! video that’s like 100k Smashes🎉
Great content ! I’m building my warehouse soon
I will be starting Inventory role in a Cold Storage warehouse but actually worked 5 years in.
Ive seen alot of people quit the Inventory role let's see what's seems to be the problem 🔍😎🔎
Man you’re the warehouse GOAT
Thank you so much for your feedback here.
Thanks, very comprehenc=sive explanation of fifo queue inplementation from upper to bottom
Glad you liked it
Very clear in short time!
Very good video. Very informative.
Haven’t ran through all of the comments but there is questions… but what happens when you break down that QR coded pallet for single cases or units?
Why is the freezer on the other side of the refrigerator? Isn't it more efficient to have them side by side? Or is there some fancy coefficient of performance between the inner walls, and the fridge and freezer?
Thank you so much, what is the difference between item QR code and a bin QR code?
When you make the adjustment on the system though you should first investigate why you have the discrepancy. Check picks that are still in the building and haven't left yet with that product code on, in case of picking errors. Check all reserve locations of the same product code for errors when replenishing, damages etc... You will have to explain when doing an annual count
Comment on point! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I learned something new
You're welcome :)
We develop sophisticated software systems that enable users to efficiently utilize the software. Just like how you use the device in your hand for scanning.
Thanks! Is the company UNFI? Looks like it! How do you make sure the pallet/product code is accurate? Is that counted as the products come in or does it go through your inventory system from the shippers?
This is a great way to employ a lot of needless personnel. Until you install an RFID system, that can be FULLY automated. :) What you're essentially doing is making a queue based on shipping dates and expiry times, and prioritizing the container closest to the expiry date.
Interesting comment. RFID can't be deployed for a low margin food distributor. It's too expensive just for labels. This is why solutions like ours exist.
@@Laceupsolutions So it's expensive _now_ but the future price is going down, and the savings in wage costs is cumulative. I think this is coming either way. Better to be prepared.
@@technotroll True. I couldn't agree more.
Great, also wanting to know another the warehouse logistics company and the employees management system ambience well done and the best services applied.
Thanks
Hi I am ware house manager, Thanks for your videos

Thank you
In a modern warehouse with stacker cranes, does WMS control all the activities and the processes? Or AR/RS will control it and WMS just manage the inventory with QR code?
Inventory with QR Code. To control other activities and processes you’d need something more sosphosticated
@@Laceupsolutions Could you suggest any app that can control activities and processes of my warehouse? I thought WMS can do that
Thank you🙏 sir
Nice video about warehouse and Inventory management system, its easy to use for the SCM and Logistics professionals, I have been experienced with such a systems during my carrier in Air Force Logistics and Supply Chain fields of Operation.
Now I am looking for some new employers around the globe to utilize my potential.
I'd like to start a conversation with you about this topic, it seems that u already know bout it, maybe we can be business partners! How can I contact you?
Can a pallet in the picking location contain more than one products? (and have multiple pallet labels/QR codes?)
If my warehouse acts as a relay and I need to store a customer order which is prepared by a supplier with a contract and sent to me, how would I go about storing that in the warehouse?
You would store the order and not the individual product. The label on the pallet/pallets would have an order ID, and your system would have to store the location of where you put away the pallets for that order. When you go pick, the system should prompt you to retrieve the pallets for that order so that you pack the pallets and ship them.
Which system do you use?
Great video. I'm new to WMS. If during the receiving process you are expected to receive 10 cases of product but you only actually receive 9, how do you handle that within the system?
Just add the odd pallet to the system by scanning it in
Nice vid. We use Embrace ERP WMS for our software. Worth every cent.
Awesome! Congratulations.
If a picker goes to a location and he finds it empty when it’s supposed to have items in it. How does he report that location?
He initiates a transfer order of that product. This creates an open order that gets fulfilled by another team member.
Thank you so much for your comment.
how about received raw part from supllier, storage, then use for production running, sometime per pallet only 120pcs, sometime per bin 10k, receiving n producting running 24hour, how to control if use this method,
Thanks for asking. There are several ways to manage continuous receiving and production with items by pallet, quantity or weight. But I need to learn more about your operation. What system are you using? Please give me your phone to call you or send me an email at ennio@laceupolutions.com to schedule a remote meeting.
Hello,
Thanks for this great video. I have just been given an appointment as a warehouse manager for a peanut company. What kind of warehouse management system do you recommend for one with little or no experience
Hello thank you so much for your comment, and I apologize about the delay. Now that you've been there for a few weeks, please let me know how it is going, problems that you may have, and I may be able to give some more accurate feedback.
So....What is the total cost of this system? Is it customizable? use some aspects and not others or is it complete as is? The reason being is that we use pallets of bagged nutritional ingredients. Weights of this material is varied as to weights. 1 pallet might be using lbs, A different pallet of product using kg. We consistently ship full pallets, and also separate bags of whatever product. WE are looking for some type of system that we can scan, subtract an amount, then next inventory, when we go to scan the pallet infor, it would have reflected that take out in the "product remaining". Please pardon my ignorance, but the system that takes place now is THE most archaic I've ever seen. All done by physical count, and paper and pencil. HELLLLLP!!!
Dear Sir, Do you have a corresponding video for " Point If Sale" Lot Tracking on Customer Invoice and CNote for Items Returned..
I do not, but I can make it :)
Hi, what was mobile device used? Can scan handle attached? Is the scanner auto range compatible with short & long range scanning?
This device is the Honeywell EDA 71. The device is compatible with long and short range :)
Does your scanner have long distance scan? Can the QR code be blown up on a hand size sign? Can you set up limited access to certain logins?
Hi Andrew. Hope you've been great. Yes.... We do have scanners that can scan at distance, the QR code can be blown up on a hand size sign (I would like to have some dimensions if you have them), and we CAN set up limited access to certain log ins.
Hello, 3 in 1 barcode scanning, date batch collection and inventory control 2.4G wireless barcode scanner. 50% off discount for you, are you interested in testing?
thanks
how about the put away items? where can it be found in the system?
Hi Nick,
So sorry about the delay here, but I never saw your message. Put away items are normally assigned to certain bin range locations in the warehouse. Within LaceUp you can create those bins and associate the put away items by scanning the pallet and scanning the label on the bin location. If you want a more detailed answer, please shoot me an email to mickey@laceupsolutions.com and we'll schedule a meeting to answer your question more specifically.
Regards,
Mickey
Is it possible for the system to keep track of a pallet that has more than 1 product on it.
Hi Kristian, We've created a mixed pallet in our system for this purpose. This mixed pallet concept allows the user to print a mixed pallet label. This mixed pallet can contain multiple items.
oooh me god is amazing video congratulations, pd:(Rajoy putero)
I have a doubt, like does the QR Code or Bar code act as a GPS? So when it is being moved in the truck, it moves too?
Great question. The QR code does not contain any electronics that physically track the pallet. That being said, the QR code for the pallet is scanned and so is the truck that it is going into. Therefore, you know that the pallet is going onto which truck.
@@Laceupsolutions awesome man thanks,I gotta present on this topic tomorrow, watching your videos really helping me a lot, and the Anderson Dairy story was really inspiring 💙Wish you best😊
@@VideoGameCassettes I appreciate your feedback. Hope you have an amazing presentation :)
Hai bro nice tour, can I ask you something, what device you use for printing QR product pallet label
Hello that device is the Honeywell EDA 70
hello, i am a forklift operator is there a place for my service in your company
Shouldn't the cycle counts be accurate if the product is scanned whenever it's picked?
Sorry about the delay here, I just saw your message. Cycle counts may still be inaccurate because someone made a mistake on receiving, putaway, or returning product to the incorrect bin. Scanning in/out of a picking bin doesn't guarantee that the inventory within the bin is correct because often times the WH employees make mistakes.
tapos na buong araw hindi pa kami nakakapg pick ng isang s.o. out of 1000 s. o. tapos ang quantity over 100 per so. hayssss
If, I mean if, it sometimes happened. Your picker move one pallet from higher level to the ground level and he or she forgot to scan the bar code on the beam. Then the system will keep show you the pallet is on the higher level, but when you go there, it is on the ground already. How your system can void these kinds of mistakes? Thanks
So sorry about the delay here, but I hadn't seen your question. Open an overage or shortage, the system will prompt a cycle count of the bin fixing the inventory. All over/shorts will be fixed with a corresponding cycle count.
When you are stacking items into a bay or into the system you always check the bay before the bank after the baby down and beat up when you’re looking for item it happens in warehouses I emailed people forget to scan but you always have to check one up one down left and right with some moving warehouse and you have storage containers sometimes you have to pull the whole road out to find a container but if a person forget to scan nine times out of 10 it’s one up one down left or right that’s how you fine
I wanna learn
My company is switching to this system. Is there a step by step guide on how to use this software?
Hello, What company are you with?
wheres the program that u use?
i only see barcode and things,
even though u explain just need to scan but i dont know is it works or just word u saying.
srry i need to see how the program works by employment
Great question. The product that we use is our own here at LaceUp Solutions. The program does require an implementation.
Hi, could you show the user interface a bit more and how to navigate on it when you scan etc? Does it enable a 3D mapping of the warehouse or is it an alphanumeric mapping?
Hello Louis,
Here is the video that shows the interface:
czcams.com/video/bOHc9vD5hdo/video.html
Also, the warehouse is alphanumeric mapping not 3D.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
