    In this video we visit the warehouse of one of our biggest customers to show you what to look for in a real world warehouse management system. There are 6 basic functions to look for in any warehouse management.
    1. Receiving - Scan product against purchase orders, print out pallet labels, and receive product into the warehouse.
    2. Check-In - Check product into any bin by scanning the pallet and the QR code/barcode on the bin location itself. This ties the pallet, quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates to the bin location.
    3. Picking - Have sales orders transmit directly to the warehouse management scanners. The system will tell the user exactly where to go to pick the product within the warehouse. The user will scan the bin location to ensure that they are picking the correct product. The WMS will capture the product lot number/expiration date at this time.
    4. Transfer - Transfer product to/from bin locations in the warehouse using first in first out. Initiate a transfer and the system will show you where to transfer product from/to depending on the expiration date of the product. You can set up the product to work with FIFO.
    5. Cycle Counts - Having a warehouse management system makes so you can cycle count your picking bins ONLY. No more having to count the entire warehouse in order to get an accurate inventory value.
    6. Route Returns - A WMS should be able to track all of the product going onto your delivery trucks and off your delivery trucks. This way you can track whether or not your drivers are stealing from you. This will also enable you to pinpoint the whereabouts of all product at all times.

I've worked in warehousing for almost 20 years now, funny at 2:44 the blue plastic pallet in the background standing up right is a no no in most companies I've seen people get write ups for leaving pallets like that obviously they could fall and hit someone in the ankle or foot lol great channel overall though!

    When you make the adjustment on the system though you should first investigate why you have the discrepancy. Check picks that are still in the building and haven't left yet with that product code on, in case of picking errors. Check all reserve locations of the same product code for errors when replenishing, damages etc... You will have to explain when doing an annual count

    This is a great way to employ a lot of needless personnel. Until you install an RFID system, that can be FULLY automated. :) What you're essentially doing is making a queue based on shipping dates and expiry times, and prioritizing the container closest to the expiry date.

    Can a pallet in the picking location contain more than one products? (and have multiple pallet labels/QR codes?)
    If my warehouse acts as a relay and I need to store a customer order which is prepared by a supplier with a contract and sent to me, how would I go about storing that in the warehouse?

    • @Laceupsolutions
      @Laceupsolutions  Před 2 lety +4

      You would store the order and not the individual product. The label on the pallet/pallets would have an order ID, and your system would have to store the location of where you put away the pallets for that order. When you go pick, the system should prompt you to retrieve the pallets for that order so that you pack the pallets and ship them.

    So....What is the total cost of this system? Is it customizable? use some aspects and not others or is it complete as is? The reason being is that we use pallets of bagged nutritional ingredients. Weights of this material is varied as to weights. 1 pallet might be using lbs, A different pallet of product using kg. We consistently ship full pallets, and also separate bags of whatever product. WE are looking for some type of system that we can scan, subtract an amount, then next inventory, when we go to scan the pallet infor, it would have reflected that take out in the "product remaining". Please pardon my ignorance, but the system that takes place now is THE most archaic I've ever seen. All done by physical count, and paper and pencil. HELLLLLP!!!

      So sorry about the delay here, but I never saw your message. Put away items are normally assigned to certain bin range locations in the warehouse. Within LaceUp you can create those bins and associate the put away items by scanning the pallet and scanning the label on the bin location. Great question. The QR code does not contain any electronics that physically track the pallet. That being said, the QR code for the pallet is scanned and so is the truck that it is going into. Therefore, you know that the pallet is going onto which truck.

    • @Laceupsolutions
      @Laceupsolutions  Před 2 lety

      Sorry about the delay here, I just saw your message. Cycle counts may still be inaccurate because someone made a mistake on receiving, putaway, or returning product to the incorrect bin. Scanning in/out of a picking bin doesn't guarantee that the inventory within the bin is correct because often times the WH employees make mistakes.

    • @Laceupsolutions
      @Laceupsolutions  Před 2 lety

      So sorry about the delay here, but I hadn't seen your question. Open an overage or shortage, the system will prompt a cycle count of the bin fixing the inventory. All over/shorts will be fixed with a corresponding cycle count.
