I grew up with a train within hearing distance and I remember hearing it every night while I was falling asleep. Such a comforting sound now.
It's the opposite for me xD There are no trains where I live at all. I live on a tiny island. The only thing that sounds remotely like that is the air raid siren which doesn't bode well when it blares unless its for a 2 minute silence. So the only thing really for me from hearing that sound is fear or sadness.

It's so weird how sounds can induce such nostalgia. The sounds of the train in the rain bring back many memories of my childhood when I used to go to my grandma's house and we had to drive under a huge bridge that trains used to pass on.

This is actually such a relief because I also live close to some train tracks, and I constantly stop recording because of it. Knowing that it can be in a video and that some people even find it relaxing is such a game changer for me! 💜💜
There’s an ASMRtist whose channel name is Lipstick Channel, he always has unedited background sounds like clock ticking and cars passing by. It somehow makes his videos extra tingly, I close my eyes and imagine that I’m at this cozy place, the clock sounds like the one that used to be at my grandpa’s house... it seems so realistic and therefore even better. so don’t worry. to me and a lot of others background sounds are actually very enjoyable.

This is such a specific memory that is dead-on accurate for me, except for the Christmas part.
I didn't necessarily think train noises would be relaxing, but it actually works really well! Raffy's just a true master at knowing which sounds work well together

Geez, I love these ambience/asmr layered type sounds! Felt an enormous tingle when that train horn went off. Not sure what I like so much about it, something about distant sounds vs. crisp sounds nearby. Usually I like to open two videos at once with a city cafe ambience/fireplace/wind/etc + regular asmr video, but never tried trains before , thank you soo much!
