    Hi Everyone,
    We hope you enjoyed our video! Which small 5th Wheel UNDER 30' did you like best? Do you prefer a travel trailer, motorhome or 5th wheel? Please say hello by leaving a comment below and sharing your opinion about these RV floor plans.

  • @Erin-Thor
    @Erin-Thor Před 6 měsíci +10

    The benefits to these shorter lighter 5W’s is three fold; 1. Parks, National Parks, and mountain roads start cutting off trailers at 26’, 5W’s at 30’ meaning that you can get in and go more places. 2. You can get by with a 3/4 ton truck (less money). 3. MORE STORAGE! 😊

    • @Erin-Thor
      @Erin-Thor Před 6 měsíci +1

      The third 5W is my favorite. That’d work! The second is also sweet!

      Completely agree! If we "downsized" from our motorhome we would consider a 5th wheel this size! Thanks Erin!

      Rockwood rocked it and wins, in my book, by a mile.
      As for the TV wall being a medium wood tone, I agree it’s a nice visual room definition between kitchen/dining and living area. Kind of like a brick fireplace the medium wood tones circumscribe that area. As for the adjacent area where the fireplace resides, using the same medium wood tones from the fireplace area might cause an initial impression of a dark corner. It happens so easily in smaller units.

    I am very happy to see your piece on the Rockwood 281rk in same video as the Jayco eagle my decision to purchase the Rockwood came down to the dealer and restroom access and shower. Rockwood did score a hit on fridge access but decided I could use a cooler to compensate.

    Forest River was our favorite but it failed our road mode fridge accessibility requirement unfortunately. Laughed at your comment regarding "things getting out of hand in the bathroom" but that's a very handy feature having a remote for the great Max Air fan! Great job on the video, Mike and Susan! Very consistent and informative, with great narration, awesome camera work, and nice video editing. Thanks for all you do for the RV community!

    We recently bought the Rockwood 281rk and love it!! We did upgrade to a king size bed, and the bedroom still seems so big. The mirrors in bedroom, help to give the illusion of a bigger space. We are true couple campers, so the idea of the counter seating with the bar stools was a win for us vs the dinette👍🏼. We also opted for the theater seating which is great! We had upgraded from the GeoPro so we are loving all the extra room!! Love your videos! Thanks for this walk through 👍🏼❤

    Yes we use DVD's as we normally do NOT have cell service or internet where we prefer to camp! When you can't access fridge in travel mode, that's a big NO!

      @RVBlogger  Před 20 dny

      We used to use DVDs too! We laugh at how bad were were at finding good internet back then. It is way easier though. And it you camp in the mountains you really need StarLink and no trees in your way.

    Thanks Susan and Mike, well done, as always. Me being me, I personally would not buy a new Thor product (the first two). The third, being a Berkshire Hathaway (Forest River) seems okay, but a bit over priced for what it is. The used market for fifth wheels is growing, just remember to have an inspection done and do your due diligence. The separation of the living room and kitchen is always a good idea to keep the TV away from the kitchen. Who wants to watch TV with someone in front of them doing kitchen activities? Stay safe out there.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci

      Agree to all. Owning a Thor I have to agree unfortunately, but I blame Lippert too! I imagine the used market for all RVs has increased based on the huge increase in popularity over the past few years and those they have changed their minds about RVing. We always recommend getting a 3rd party inspection even when buying new! No RV is built perfect. Thank you as always for your support Tuvia4082!

    The Jayco Eagle 26REC is sooo good, I love it!
    Everything is very well thought out, lots of little gimmicks and solutions that make life easier every day, the slide-out is on the right side so that you can get into the bedroom even when retracted... I would add a folding wooden shelf on the left-hand side next to the sink so that you could have a little more countertop and work surface, but apart from that I really cannot complain.
    In short: the space is used optimally and the thing is a dream.
    The Forest River Rockwood R281RK is also very nice, especially the height in the shower, but it cannot beat the Jayco.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I just loved the Jayco too. A lot of really great little details make it special. Also loved the bed was not in a slide out so that nice for boondocking at Walmart or Cracker Barrel. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting! We appreciate your support!

    Those are awesome ! I need that Forest River shower in my home ! One thing I noticed on all, you don't have a 12" step up, just walk right in. My vote would have to go to Jayco ! Love that "hidden pantry" behind the TV ! Thanks y'all !! Safe travels !!

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci

      That is correct about the lack of step up in 5th wheel showers. They are able to install all necessary plumbing under the shower (without having to raise the shower) to keep it a floor level. I also loved the Jayco and that hidden pantry!!! Thank you Darryl! We always appreciate your support!

  • @pierredaigneault5615

    The Jayco would be a perfect fulltimer for a single person like me, or a couple! I would bring aboard my mini clothes washer and drying rack ( store it in the hidden pantry ) . Moving twice a year from southern state to canada would be a breeze since everyting is accessible with the slide IN! thanks!

    Could you please let us know if the bathroom, kitchen/fridge and bedroom are accessible when the slides are in. If you're boondocking at Cracker barrel or a truck stop, or even stopping to stretch your legs and use the facilities and eat lunch, if you can't use it with the slides in that's a huge deal breaker for me. Please? It's hard to tell even looking at the floor plans sometimes. Thank you for all the work you do for us. Appreciate it greatly!

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci

      We are trying to get better at adding that information. Hopefully you'll see more of that moving forward. In this video the only RV with accessible kitchen and bath is the Jayco Eagle. You can access the bathroom in the FR Rockwood (kitchen is a bit tight) and you can access the kitchen and fridge of the Keystone Cougar (not the bathroom). Hope this is helpful and thank you for the suggestion. We appreciate your support!

    I think the Rockwood is the best one and next would be the Jayco. Can an F150 pull these or is that pushing it. Great video .

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci

      According to Ford, the newer models can tow up to 14,000 lbs. These 5th wheels have a GVWR of just under 10,000 lbs so it's sounds doable but it would be best to check the owner's manual or the specs to your specific vehicle. And we always say never tow more than 80% of your vehicles tow capacity to be safe. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support.

    I’m a fan of that Jayco. I really like that “hidden” pantry and the separated eating and living areas. Plus the bedroom looks very nice, especially that residential queen bed. The Rockwood is nice but the recliners look very cramped in that small slideout area.

  • @phalupium
    @phalupium Před 6 měsíci +1

    I'm sure there's a reason, but why don't they make 5th Wheels with greater cargo capacities as a standard? It's extremely easy to go over these capacities. For example, I have a 40' Sunnybrook Westpoint. Dry weight is 16.5k, and max weight is 18k.... It also has 240gl of water carrying capacity (all tanks combined), and would put the rig well above it's limits. That doesn't include all other cargo such as clothing, food, entertainment, etc. Even if you travel without water, you're still very limited to what you can carry. We have the technology to make frames and axels that hold more weight, such as toy/car haulers. Why don't they apply the same idea?

    • @phalupium
      @phalupium Před 6 měsíci

      To add context, since I bought my 40' rig, I have had a lot of trouble finding resorts with open availability for big rigs. The spots exist, but are usually booked full. If I could do it again, I would buy a 5th wheel under 35', possibly under 30', to get that little luxury of fitting in anywhere you want to go. I guess manufacturers assume you're planning to pull these little 5'ers with a 1/4 ton truck or something, because they have the carrying capacity to hold basically nothing but essentials. I want the ability to carry anything I want without having to keep an inventory of everything in the rig. Is that too much to ask? With these new 3/4 and 1ton pickups, you have the power. Just make it happen.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci +1

      We have found many RVs with less than adequate Cargo Carry Capacity or CCC. When I call the manufacturers they say things like:
      1. Most people just camp on the weekends at camp ground and don't travel with full tanks of water or waste water
      2. They are over engineered so they are ok
      I think this is all a load of crap. We have seen a number of 5th wheels with frame flex and this is most likely the reason why.
      Why don't the manufacturers build on a beefier frame? One reason and one reason only - to save money. They want to build the cheapest unit possible to increase profit margins.
      Welcome to the wonderful world of RV manufacturing with no oversight or standards.
      Thanks for your comment - hopefully other will read it and learn from it.
      Mike

    What happened to the small fifth wheel from the late 80’s and 90’s? Every where I want to go is a 4 days tow to the west and a 32’ Cougar is great if your going for the winter but not great for a 2 week trip.

    It's going to be a while, maybe even a decade, before I can get a new trailer/truck and go to Alaska. Here's my dilemma: parts of the Alaska highway, and a whole lot of other roads up there, the one running north from Banff, top of the world highway, etc, are insanely rough. When I do this, I don't want to be limited to decent roads. Can a 5th wheel handle it, or do I need a non-5th wheel so the frost heaves don't bend the front of the trailer and break the rear window of the truck?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That is a very great point! We have friends that are traveling to Alaska this summer in a small Class C for those reasons (better drivability). We have thought about going but renting a truck camper for our adventure. I do know that Happily Ever Hanks took their 5th wheel www.youtube.com/@HappilyEverHanks/videos and Less Junk More Journey took their Airstream www.youtube.com/@LessJunkMoreJourney. Might get some good advice from them. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support.

      We keep waiting for the manufacturers to come out with some better color schemes but not much to show so far! Maybe we will see some new designs in the 2025 modes at the Hershey RV Show. Stay Tuned!

    Hey guys, hope you're well.
    I gotta remark as its been on my mind for quite a few clips. I've been a viewer for a long time now and noticed how monotonous things get after following every post for this long.
    I'm sorry, but trying to be constructively critical, please dont be offended
    After awhile it turns into the storage/matress tape/shower show instead of reviewing all the other particulars involved in RVs. Especially motorhomes, which the truck features are largely ignored.
    I just wish I couldn't predict nearly every move you make mike, and everything you say in every video. Things just get old and I start thinking why tour it and just record a quick walk thru and be done rather then every word predictable and every action the same clip to clip.
    After awhile cabinet storage, the bed being within a few inches and the shower curtain/oven pizza cookie thing just gets tired
    I'll still be a fan, just hoping things can switch up sometimes !
    Take care guys

      Understandable. We appreciate your honesty. Keeping our videos brief about floor plans only tends to be repetitive. We have thought about including more details about each RV but the videos would be way too long. We would have to change the format of our videos to only one RV. But we will keep trying to improve and make our videos watch worthy. Thanks again for your honesty. Appreciate your support!

    This is a copycat of the paradigm avenue 5th wheel. Which is okay, but keystone doesn’t have the quality of the paradigm avenue!

      There are quite a few different trailers with the same floor plan. And these trailers are all built by the same people with the same components. The difference is that Alliance has excellent customer service.
      Thanks for watching!

    I like the last one that cost 75,000

      MSRP on Lance has always been a bit higher than many other manufacturers but they have a great reputation for quality. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting! We appreciate your support!
