The clip on regulator on the fuel rail is a high failure rate item and causes long starts. It also destroys its own evidence. Let it sit overnight and if you find fuel in the vacuum line that goes to it, it's bad.

The 5.3 has a return style intake and Im wondering if you think its ok to use the Corvette style filter /regulator and bypass the regulator on the fuel rail. I have heard that the 2005 works with a module that controls the fuel pressure ... My plan is to install a return style pump with the corvett c5 filter so the return style pump would only install the ignition current and the pipeline until there I'm fine I think ... what worries me is that the module would be disabled and I don't know if I affect the melody or operation of the truck since I do not want to use that module ... any help would be greatly appreciated

Never had one leak. That was hundreds at the dealership as new o-rings came in the package. Hit with compressed air, wipe clean with rag, use pick to change. Love the channel but changing engines may have stressed a fitting and tiny micro fracture. When GM sees a high failure rate they ask dealers to ship them back to testing.
