- This week we welcome Alperen Şengün, the young Turkish NBA star and center of the Houston Rockets. Alperen discusses his experience growing up playing basketball is Turkey and his relationship with past and present Turkish players in the league. He also shares what it means to him as being labeled as “Baby Nikola Jokic”,how he eventually want to move on from being compared to the Denver Nuggets superstar, and his mindset going into matchups against Jokic and 76ers center Joel Embiid. He then discusses the 2023-24 Houston Rockets, including what the addition of point guard Fred VanVleet has meant to the the young team, what’s he’s learned about Dillon Brooks from being his teammate, and how much he enjoys the coaching style of Ime Udoka. He also breaks down his famous one-legged shot. Later in the episode, New Orleans Pelicans guard Trey Murphy joins the show to check-in on the expectations of the Pelicans for the rest of the season, the state of the Western Conference, and more.

Alpi has been so fun to watch as a Rocket fan. As a 19-year-old rookie (that spoke very little English), he led the NBA in "Wow" highlights per minute played as he didn't get as much playing time but had one heck of a rookie highlight reel despite playing less than 20 minutes a game. People think he improved last year and then again this year and he has. But the biggest difference is the increase in minutes from season 1 to season 2 and then the trust from the new coach to use him as the playmaking HUB this year. Won't be too long before people stop comparing him to Jokic as he is his own player and actually far more athletic and "saucy" than the Joker despite sharing a high basketball IQ/feel for the game and being the HUB for the offense. Dude is a joy to watch and credit to him for his massive improvement with the English language. He is constantly putting up numbers at his age that only a few all-time NBA greats can claim. Special player and still just a very young 21 years old! Future is bright for THE WIZARD!

As a turk, I really enjoyed the podcast. Hearing more information about the life of our all star was precious and jj was well prepared for the interview. questions were intelligent, conversations were sincere. @@sixheadedboy I doubt it. Kawhi, George, AD, Steph, Ant and Booker are pretty much locked in to be in it. The last spot will most likely go to Fox if the player and media votes are anything to go by. I think the coaches will vote closer to how the players and the media voted than how the fans voted. If there were 8 spots I think he gets in, but unfortunately I think he will end up being the one people will say is the biggest snub this year.

@@niqowyd Being a center doesn't matter when it comes to who gets to the All-star game. It's either frontcourt or backcourt and for reserves even that doesn't matter that much. The coaches will vote for whoever they think deserves it the most, no matter the position, especially in today's NBA where positions are very debatable
Saw him play in person the other night against the celtics, this dude is gonna be a super star. He's so comfortable out there already and making FLASHY passes. Rebuild or not it's a good time to be a rockets fan
Sengun is so fun to watch and contributes to winning! He's a pivot master in the mode of former Rockets, Dream, Luis Scola, and Kevin McHale (former coach) and has the deft, soft touch of Yao Ming. He also brings the C-Webb, Vlade, White Chocolate/Bibby type of fun ball sharing of the Kings and MDA and Nash ignited with the Suns.

Scottie currently has a better jump shot than Sengun& is only going to get better. Ask any GM in the league who would they pick to build a team around. Segun or Scottie. I guarantee you most will say Scottie. Good 2 way player, versatile, high BB IQ, playmaker, rebounder, etc who doesn't need the ball to impact wins while Sengun is a good post player most of his scoring comes from FVV feeding him in the pick & roll. SB didn't need FVV to impact his gm in fact many Raps fans thought FVV stunted Scottie's growth.

As a Bucks fan, the recent events of our team closely align with the reactions of the fanbase. Griffin's lack of experience was showing, whether through in game schemes or some of the issues inside the locker room. People are so focused on our record but we did not look like a championship team. We gave a rookie coach a small amount of time but he showed us no signs of exponential improvement. I love the move with Doc. It worries me to hear that JJ doesn't think this move will get us to the top, but the front office is showing zero tolerance for anything other than a championship run and I love the amount of experience our entire organization possesses. Bucks in 6.
Doc has choked 3 3-1 leads. The second most choked 3-1 leads recorded by a coach is 1. He’s still riding on that 2008 ring, makes no adjustments in the playoffs, can’t take accountability. I can even see the knicks beating them in a series

JJ the one shot setshot come to fruition as it allows him to align his arm not infringed-by-shoulder-cuff-muscle impinging and providing tension and pull/drag , that left sole of his foot is the mast and single pivot as his right leg is lifted , think his body now has a through line/centre-lind even since it seems angled , his right arm is relieved of the shoulder-cuff tension
