I actually got this game as a kid. I was so dissapointed. I remember raging at the vegeta fight cuz he literally just spammed galick gun over and over.

The one that pissed me off was the gohan vs cell fight. You could only hurt him when you were ssj2, and you had to fight against a meter that decreased too quickly in order to refill it and turn ssj2 AND IF CELL HIT YOU DURING THE TRANSFORMATION YOUR METER WOULD RESET
I, too, remember when Chiaotzu lost to Nappa by misfiring himself onto a rocky cliff face.

My favorite episode of dbz was the one where vegeta fired galick gun at regular intervals of about 5 seconds while goku tried to remember how to use his square square triangle triangle triangle combo. Really brings back memories.

@K19 I just did some totally not scientific testing with some other 4:3 stuff, and this video is definetely less wide than that. But it's also not quite 1:1. It's probably originally 4:3, but some settings for the recording or rendering of the video probably messed with the pixel aspect ratio or something.

I love it precisely because it's terrible. I really regretted buying it as a kid, at first, but playing co-op with my dad and just laughing at all the stupid bullshit and jankiness of the game was a blast.
i found it at a game store like 2 weeks ago and replayed it i actually enjoyed it but i was also pretty tanked after a rugby party with the mates

I remember being so excited as a kid getting this game when it first came out. I beat it 100% in like 3-5 hours. Didn't enjoy a single second of it. I was too embarrassed/ashamed to tell my parents to take it back to the store.

These games' cutscenes love giving Vegeta wrong colored armor, too.
Early Dragon Ball has a long history of messing up colours. When they first showed Vegeta in the show he hadn't been seen in colour yet so their solution was to barf a box of crayons all over him.

I played the hell out of this game when I was younger. At some point it glitched into a black screen with Vegeta yelling and flying all over the screen while leaving a trail of after images (picture the classic pc Solitaire cards after you win except it's Vegeta all the way down). I could never play the game after that, because I would never have as good an experience playing it ever again.
Wdym Vegeta went beyond his limits and gave you an authentic dragonball experience

Oh my god I use to play this all the time on the GameCube when I was in elementary school. My older brother had all the characters unlocked.
I could not beat the Gohan vs Cell level for the life of me. That’s also when I assumed Gohan was gonna be taking over DBZ.
I'm really late, but the comment about Goku looking like a One Piece character in the cutscene is actually more spot on than you realize. The specific lead animator was a One Piece animator.

I remember renting this from the Blockbuster back in the day. I remember it sucking hard, but I did finish it. There is at least one boss battle in this game that is basically unplayable. You had to stay in Super Saiyan form to deal damage, but it was really easy to lose it and have to spend like 5 minutes fighting to gain back you ki to enable it again, only to get stunlocked until you lose it again... and repeat. Unplayable.
I finished the game and unlocked one-armed Gohan from Trunks's future, and it absolutely was not worth it. This game is ass.
The saiya people thing is from the Speedy dub. The big green dub had gems like “Let that child alone.”

I genuinely dont understand how people like the original soundtrack. It's all fucking slide whistles and rattles and way too many fucking trumpets, it just sounds so fucking bad, almost comical. Not at all what an action anime needs.
Faulconer made super memorable and exciting music fit for a show like DBZ where planets are exploding and energy beams and muscles are all over the place.
It just seems like the people that prefer the original only like it because it was the first, not because it was good. It's like they're snobs or something.

I played this game once. I was fighting Frieza as Goku, and suddenly Frieza became attached to Goku's wrist in a permanent T-pose. He was like a weapon I was swinging around while punching. He couldn't be hurt, even by my friend during co-op. It was a game-ending glitch.
But it was funny as fuck, so...five outta five, best DBZ game.
