In this video I analyze the key skills and traits that you must have in order to make the NBA at different heights and positions. These include three point shooting, ball handling, passing and vision, vertical leaping, effort, defensive sliding, among other things. The main takeaway is that the shorter you are, the more competition you face in your efforts to make the NBA. Therefore, the more complete your game has to be. The shortest of players are around 5ft 8 inches, and they must have total offensive packages just to make an NBA roster. The tallest players, especially the ones over 7ft, have fewer necessary skills. However, they must maintain a high level of mobility, something that is extremely difficult for taller people. This makes elite 7 footers extremely rare, which explains why the value of players like Joel Embiid or Karl-Anthony Towns is so high.

I want your guys opinion on how tall, and good I am for my height and age. Im 12 and 5'8", I am good at driving in and finishing, i think i have good ball handling skills for a tall person (cuz i play with quick people who are 2-4 inches shorter than me. About 20"vertical, and can guard anyone if i try (in my neighbor hood, but thats like 0.1% of the people trying to make it to the NBA) I am good at mid-range shooting, back to the rim shots, not so good at post ups (im stronger than anyone, and don't want to hurt them) I am really athletic, and no one has a longer hang time than me, i personally think i will be 6 feet 3 inches to about 6 feet 6 inches max
To make it to the NBA, stop reading comments and go after your dreams, put down the 2k controller.

Sergeant Baby- Call of duty, Minecraft, and more thats good keep it up bro
Sergeant Baby- Call of duty, Minecraft, and more you should cut that down its putting too much on your muscles you may not feel it but it's not good for you cut it down to atleast 3 hours
Sergeant Baby- Call of duty, Minecraft, and more also make sure you are working on fundamentals and not just shooting threes, not saying that's what you do
Sergeant Baby- Call of duty, Minecraft, and more yeah right big man 😂😂
No easy answer but few factors have to go your way.
1. Height. You have to be pretty tall (preferably in the 6ft range) though there are a few exceptions ( I.T, Kay Felder, etc.) However, you must play ur position with what height u have. If ur 6’3, you should play like a PG. Or if your 6’9 play like a wing. Again. PLAY YOUR POSITION. I know people who were 6’3 but b/c everyone on their team were shorter than them, they had to play a different position, unable to develop the skills for their height.
2. Talent. You must have some time of natural given ability, wether its athleticism, shooting, strength etc.
3. Train Everyday. Every american High school prospect put in work almost everyday, both in the weight room and on the court. Hiring a trainer is highly recommended.
4. Do well in school. Your chances may not be the best, so have an education as a backup option ready. Also, universities look at ur grades as well. So do well in school.
5. Visibility. Put out a mixtape on youtube. Play in-front of scouts. Anything to get your name out there.
6. Play for a rep team. Do this as early of your youth as possible. Your coaches will train you, and you will also get better playing with tougher competition.
7. Luck. You must be lucky in some sort of way. Wether its going off in a game in front of scouts, or a mixtape blowing up.
Even then, it is still not guaranteed. be fit, agile, showcase your strengths and continuously work on your game while also doing good in school.

In sixth grade, I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes and since then, I put in work 2x harder. Didn’t make it in seventh grade, then decided to go to a basketball clinic for 5 months.. before I got noticed by a coach that I played for at a Rec center and he recruited me to an AAU team. In the Rec center league, I averaged 21.2 points and came out on top twice, with the coach I played for. Now, I’ve trained with the NBA trainer of Tobias Harris, Cortney Lee, and Elfrid Payton. I’m so blessed to soon be ranked, play at my highest potential, and to continue my journey to success.

Hey guys... My dream is to play in the NBA and be like Lebran James...
As of now I am 4'1 at 26 years old... I am great at giving high fives and dominate at free throws... It's at least a 9% from the free throw line... I played AAU and high school and averaged 0.0 points 0.0 assist 0.0 rebounds 0.0 steals and 11.4 turnovers a game... I tried to walk to an Online University but unfortunately did not make it... I thought I could be like Denis Roodmun and Scoty Pippon and go play in the NAIA... So I spent 55,000 dollars to attend a NAIA school to try out and again did not make it... BUT I did become a water boy for the team and got Most Valuable Water Boy for the next 2 seasons... As a Senior I got Water Boy of the year in the NAIA and then declared for the NBA draft... I did not get drafted so as of now I am a Unrestricted a Free Agent... I tired out for all pro leagues and semi pro like D league USABL and ABA... I am still hoping I can get picked up by a NBA team and become a champion and an All Star... Please everyone... Wish me luck, thank you

@@nero4911 wtf bro 💀
Being in the NBA is a big dream for most basketball kids. However, the reality is that you need to be extremely good at whatever height you're at.
Bro keep it up🤙🏽
Ive dedicated more than half my to basketball. I lived on a schedule. I woke up at 6 AM, shot hoops in my driveway, got ready for school and got on my way. I played basketball at recess and when I got home I biked 4 miles to the local gym and played. I found a sanctuary in which I could conceal my fears and just slip away from the outside world. I practically lived for basketball. I shot until my arms were numb. I ran up and down the court dripping sweat and panting for breath. I came home at 9 - 10 pm every night, sometimes even forgetting to come home and ending up sneaking into my house at 12 AM after biking 4 miles in pitch black darkness. I became an exceptional ball handler and shooter over time, being able to easilyscore 5-10 points in pickup games to 15. When I arrived at middle school, I thought I was on top of the world. I scored 15-20 points a game against other middle school competitors, while still grinding it out until 10 PM at the gym. In middle school my team fell short of state level entry but nontheless I was still motivated to go to high school, get a scholarship and make my mom proud. Then I walked into highschool. Surrounding me were stocky, tall athletes with rather large biceps and notable calf muscles. This didnt really phase me until tryouts came. I was and still am an above average athlete. I have lots of stamina and was a track prodegy at my school. But this wasn't middle school. This was high school. These guys were benching 200 pounds at age 14. They could dunk effortlessly. Their defense was impossible to get by. They had huge wingspans and their overwhelming strength stopped me right in my tracks. The point of this huge sob story is that people are BORN with basketball in their genes. Some skip school, some play everyday since the day they were born. Who are "they"? Your competitors. The millions of other superior athletes who can dunk at the age of 14. The fact is that there is just too much of an advantage with athletisicm in basketball. You can accept that now or try to pursue your fantasy and waste your time. Its your choice, but good luck either way.

Also 7th and 8th grade year is key for a young athlete... those are the years of getting athletic... turning the 20 inch vertical to a 30 inch vertical and gaining some muscle, not lifting a lot. I didn’t do that because i thought i was a great athletic(i am) i didn’t work as hard when i should’ve... i was naturally good at basketball...start of 9th grade year i was pound for pound best player in the school but guess what? I wasn’t strong nor an EXPLOSIVE athlete.. i couldn’t bench a 45 pound bar bruh... but i kept on working and it’s paying off... early workouts 3 times a day. I’m making up the time i missed... at the same time my dad didn’t want me to lift early on because he wanted my body to develop which i agree on because he used to be a strength trainer... now it’s all what God wants me to do... imma keep working and it will pay off💯 don’t start to early yall!! Btw im 6’0 with a 32 inch vert... very explosive need the vert to be a 35-37 by end of summer and close to 40 my end of senior year... keep working yall💯 stay off social media

I used to hate basketball at the age of 9 but my dad quickly showed me what basketball is I started to watch game tape and create a goal to be an NBA player or even a G League player. I want to be a point guard if I learn how to play like one otherwise a shooting guard or small forward, I also rebound steal and block well, my passing needs to improve. I have a dream to have my own basketball court so I can train all day everyday, I have tons of basketball gadgets. I compare my self to collin sexton of the cavaliers, he is a great role model. Please let me know your take if I sound like someone to go to the NBA?
Hey was wondering your height and skill rn as I’m kinda in the same position
no matter how much times you fall just keep going
Eventually you won’t be eligible anymore so you will have to give up eventually
I agreed with almost everything except when you said back to the basket skills are no longer necessary for big men. And btw brook lopez scores mainly in the low post
Brook Lopez scores mainly in the post, but one third of his field goal attempts come from beyond the arc... that's higher than many wing players and point guards. And in response to your first point, look at a list of the 30 starting centers in the NBA. By my count, no more than 15 attempt ANY post-ups on a regular basis. At least 15 play starting minutes without receiving significant post touches during games.
If Walter can make it so can I wish me luck
I subscribed
I make 2100 shots a day moving and set shooting.
I do dribble drills I did at the 76ers camp for 1 hour and passing drills for 1 hour.
If I can get games to play I throw away that day of training and play the game because I practice to play in games
Sundays and Satudays:
I do vertical training, I do strength training all around all day until the gym closes
I start my training at 6 am and end at 8 pm
Im trying to put on 240 lb
Im 6'8 btw
Your making it
Did u make it?
Do I still have a chance to make it to the NBA? I'm 5'3 at 13 years old. I could shoot the ball beyond 3 point consistent, not much of a dribbler, OK for court vision, but not so good at defense. Also I don't think i can grow anymore than 6 inches because my dad is 5'11 and I'm Asian
Steven Kuang just keep working on your game, ik how you feel I've been pretty short all my life but if you just work on your game you can beat anybody
Josh Thanks man
Steven Kuang the NBA is very very hard but probably a minor league than NBA like Europe or something
Lol
Lol ask jeremy lin jkjk 😂
I'm 6'2" and still growing
must be nice😕
no one cares
dennis is an insanely gifted athlete..
Can you make an video about how to play overseas? when you fail in your NBA dreams
I dont care about my height..Im very short,im 5,5 ft.2 years ago i was 4,5 ft.I am almost 15 now and i will still grow. But i dont care even dont grow anymore because Muggsy was 5,3,Earl Boykins was 5,5...If they could make it to NBA,why couldnt i :) i NEVER give up so i wont now either.I ignore my friends and family (99.9% of them) who laugh at me because i want to play basketball profesionally..Almost no one believes in me and it just motivates me...I know its very low chance for me to make it in NBA but it still ISNT impossible.Never give up ;)
Neboder HZ r u still working hard now? :)
Hey don't waste your time man. I'm telling you. Don't look at those few players and think why not me? That's exactly what gets millions of idiots to play the mega millions lottery or powerball lottery. The lottery chances for those are about 1 in 300 million basically. And some people get motivated when they see someone win it. What they don't realize is... YES...SOMEone may win it. But the chances of that someone being YOU are very, VERY slim... practically IMPOSSIBLE. I read about some lottery thing in an article where it said, "In a lottery in which you pick 6 numbers from a possible pool of 49 numbers, your chances of winning the jackpot (correctly choosing all 6 numbers drawn) are 1 in 13,983,816. That's 1 shot in almost 14 million. If you were to buy one lottery ticket each week in such a scenario, you could expect to win once every 269,000 years (269 THOUSAND years)."
So... the idea is the same with basketball. Don't waste your time on it. Trust me. You will thank me or WHOEVER else says it to you when you become something else in life. OR you might not and think that "could've been you" (and the answer to that is No...MOST likely, and I mean that strongly...close to a guarantee..practically should guarantee it, it was never going to be you.)
@@lolhahah21 Imagine if the 1 in 300 million 5'3 and 5'4 guys had subscribed to what you are saying here? They would never have made it.
For the record and before looking at my profile's pic, I am 5'8 lol so not bias at all
If he has the talent to compensate for the lack of height by being exceptional in every area, then let him go for it.
Rajvosa 1987 are you on the freshman team
