  • Sunday the 13th of May, saw me back in Tyndrum to climb the two Munro's of Ben Lui and Beinn a Chleibh.
The weather on the day was perfect.
From the car park it's straight over Loch Lochy. My advice would be to either bring wellies or simply take your boots and socks off. Many have wasted up to 1 hour trying to find a shallow to cross over.
The walk up the forest is also a relentless bog slog, where you often have to cut into the woods just to keep your feet dry.
The route up Ben Lui is simply to stay to the left of Ben Lui and resist making your way to the Bealach as this just adds extra time, and isn't anywhere as exciting as the direct route straight up.
From the summit it's a straight forward descent down to the bealach and up onto Beinn a Chleibh.
Retrace your steps back to the bealach and back down the same route to the car park.
Ben Lui (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Laoigh) is a mountain in the southern Highlands of Scotland, at the head of Glen Fyne. It has five well-defined ridges radiating out from the summit. Four corries lie between the ridges; including Coire Gaothaich which lies on the northeast side of the mountain.
Ben Lui (1,130m), is the highest and most famous of a group of four Munros that lie south of Glen Lochy, and about 10 km north of the top end of Loch Lomond. The other three peaks in the group are Beinn a' Chleibh, Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhchraig.

Hi Douglas, really enjoyed this - nice to see the struggle upwards & glad it's not just me that huffs & puffs my way up the hills! :D Subbed & looking forward to seeing more. ATB

Thanks Steve, Ben Lui is a cracking Munro to climb. The Oban road was the route that n I took that day, which involves a water crossing that makes wet feet unavoidable and a track up through a big bog even before you get to the Corrie where this vlog started. The best approach is from the other side (I think it’s Dalry), a longer term k in which some people bike for quickness, but a more spectacular view of this beautiful mountain all the way towards it.
Hopefully you’ll make a vlog if it whenever you eventually get to go.
      Best Regards,
      Douglas.

A wee bit steep Alistair, but worth it nearer the top.
