    Looking very nice....Thank you for sharing. Those Airbus 320s and 319s always have those strange sounds between the engines and releasing the breaks on the wheels. And then when you are on the ground and your hear one of those Airbus aircraft fly over, you hear those engines with their strange sounds.. I always laugh when I hear them come over me hear in Chicago.

    Hey Traveler. I've been to Zurich myself. On my grand trip through Europe, we got stranded in Rome, with airport strikes so we took several trains from Rome all the way to Zurich to catch a flight home to the US. Back when we had Pan Am First Class Passes.

    Great video! Just got home this evening from Munich with some family. We flew Lufthansa there and back. They’re a pretty good airline with good service. We were on an A340-6 coming home, I forgot what the aircraft was going there

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 11 měsíci

      You're very lucky my friend! I've been chasing Lufthansa's A340-600 for a long time. Right before Covid I was supposed to fly one. Then we all know what happened there. Then, when Covid was ending and I did my Europe trip last May, I was once again scheduled to fly the 346, only to have Lufthansa swap it for a 747-8. Now, I didn't really complain because who passes up a 747. But, my favorite aircraft type of all time is the A340-600, so I was still a bit bummed. This next part is confidential 🤫 because no one else knows about this, but I'm once again trying to catch the elusive aircraft later this year 😁.

    Oh wow! This is also a perfect example of a CONF 3 landing. They don’t always land full flaps on the airbus.

    • @gcharouhas
      @gcharouhas Před rokem

      Ah so THAT'S why they didn't have the flaps fully extended upon landing. I wondered about that. I thought maybe a problem.

    • @lisdoddestraat
      @lisdoddestraat Před rokem +1

      @@gcharouhas that's correct. In this situation they have the whole runway to roll out and vacate almost at the end of the runway. So they don't land with full flaps what means a higher approach speed and a quicker rollout. So that the next plane on final approach can land quicker.

    • @gcharouhas
      @gcharouhas Před rokem

    • @nikolauswolff5791
      @nikolauswolff5791 Před rokem

      @@gcharouhas Some remarks from an aircraft mechanic. Selecting the flaps is also a question of the weight of the landing aircraft as well as the wind ( direction, speed ) and the lenght of the runway. Sometimes planes land at a slower speed due to a strong head wind and the automatic throttle response activates more speed to hold the air speed. Then 50 meters before touch down the wind changes it's direction and the crew selected a higher flap for expected wind shears.

    I’ve never seen this kind of boarding before using a bus taxi and outside stairs. How
    do they handle people with special needs? Very clean interior but agree this brand could use thicker seats!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před rokem +2

      This is pretty common in Europe. Wheelchair passengers who aren’t able to use stairs have to use a special truck that looks like a catering truck. It has a lift that gets them into the back of the truck and then the whole
      Truck lifts up to one of the boarding doors.

    Too much wing. Sit farther back toward in the cab. ( I don’t know why I tell you this. You will just ignore me.)

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před rokem +2

      Now that’s not true. I don’t ever ignore you haha. But, as I have mentioned before when we’ve discussed this, I do my best to sit in a variety of seating positions to try to please as many people as possible. However, ultimately, I sit directly behind the wing a lot, because this is first and foremost an aviation channel. And the visual aspects of the wing mechanics and the sounds that are associated with sitting near the wing, are very important. They are my chief concern. Believe me, for every video like this, where I get comments about sitting too close to wing, It’s the exact opposite on flights where I sit farther away from the wing. I get comments asking if I could sit closer to the wings so they can hear the PTU and landing gear etc. So it’s a balancing act. And I promise I take your suggestions into account. Thanks for watching my friend!
