This is fantastic, thank you, he genuinely is one of the best "so bad it's good" people of all time. I hope he would be happy knowing we were still reading his poetry today and that it was still bringing enjoyment to so many people.
This was one of the best made video essays I've seen. Quality that makes me want to write a crappy poem, but unlike Mcgonagall, I shall spare you the pain of enduring it.
The Bubble of Doom watched this essay with glee, and was greatly inspired by the knight of Dundee, to take up a pen and write out some verses, for to write and publish verses, he could fill up his purses, with money he'd gotten for wordy pursuits, and maybe could buy some jeans, or perhaps even some suits. And if they would get published it would make him happy and not sad, because having success makes a bubble glad. Still glad even lacking, an elephant knighthood, but still to be famous, he would consider it quite good.
I absolutely loved the closing lines of this… Actually took the time to transcribe them and mail them to a friend. Your kindness and perspective are appreciated.
I think the bridge poem is a good example of his style of poetry working. He doesn't do well to instil any feelings of sorrow and dismay in the reader, but rather comes across as an analytical newspaper article reporting just what happened and how it could have been avoided. It does not dwell on the tragic event, but, intentionally or not, seeks to remind the reader in plain and blatant speaking of the very simple precautions needed to stop such a disaster from reoccurring.
I have a copy of Poetic Gems volume 1 and every time I see the name Edinburgh I just know in the next line he's going to attempt to rhyme it with sorrow...every single time.
Fortunatly for the rest of the Universe, he, and his poems were destroyed with the Earth by a Volgon Constructor Fleet (Excerpt from The War of the Worlds by Douglas Adams).
