Lo cuido con mucho amor y dedicación. Es mi orgullo y mi pasión. Ben: (se burla) ¿Tu orgullo y tu pasión? Por favor, no me hagas reír. Tu maíz es una vergüenza. Deberías arrancarlo todo y quemarlo. Ana: (se enfada) ¡Eso es lo que tú quisieras! ¡Pero no voy a dejar que nadie me quite mi maíz! ¡Es mi tesoro y mi sustento! Ben: (se enfada) ¡Pues deberías compartirlo con los demás! ¡No puedes acaparar todo el maíz para ti sola! ¡Hay más colonos que necesitan comer! Ana: (se indigna) ¿Compartirlo? ¿Con quién? ¿Contigo? ¡Ni loca! ¡Tú no mereces ni una miga de mi maíz! ¡Eres un egoísta y un ingrato! Ben: (se indigna) ¿Yo un egoísta y un ingrato? ¡Ja! ¡Tú eres una egoísta y una malcriada! ¡No sabes lo que es el trabajo duro ni el sacrificio! ¡Solo sabes hacer chistes malos y comer maíz! Ana: (le lanza un plato de maíz a la cara) Ben: (le lanza un vaso de agua a la cabeza) # La pelea se desata. Los demás colonos intentan separarlos, pero es inútil. El comedor se convierte en un caos de maíz, agua, platos, vasos y golpes.

OMG, people! RImworld is not a story generator. It tries very hard to be one and it simply doesn't cut it in terms of story telling. If you want to label Rimworld as a story generator then every game in existence becomes an unintentional story generator. The events in the game that generate stories are not unique and are fully scripted and often repeat several times during a play through of the game. So why call it a story generator when the stories it generates are not unique? The only difference between one story to another is the order and frequency that these events occur -- that doesn't make a story generator. There is literally no AI to speak of in Rimworld that is able to make intelligent decisions about narrative directing within the game. The colonists or Pawns in the game are not intelligently controlled by the nonexistent AI within the game. I don't think that there is a single example of AI within this game. So stop calling it a story generator when it doesn't generate interesting stories.

Loved this reflective piece on what is my favourite film of all time. Great work, James! I saw it for the first time in a cinema in Zurich during my 'year abroad' as part of a languages course in 1983. The only slight problem was that I laughed rather more loudly than the other cinema-goers at the 'Scottish humour' parts! Living on Mull myself, I'm intrigued to know which Scottish island you fell a little in love with :-)

It took me years to even learn about the walk cycle in the game. The version I had was bugged into having Shrek t-pose the entire game which made the horror parody feel more comical at times. T-pose aside, the walk cycle seriously adds to the horror tension of the game.

Sense the game got the revamped Treatment with a new ending and more content I like to see a Revist with the new contents

I was thinking about Rimworld's simplistic art style and how effective it is, I was imagining myself making a video about it, and your entire Apophenia chapter is exactly what I imagined it would be. Bravo! I would've also added the example of people who used to play with toy soldiers or old, pixel games. There's not much to see to begin with, but their imagination helped to make epic scenes out of it.

This is fantastic, thank you, he genuinely is one of the best "so bad it's good" people of all time. I hope he would be happy knowing we were still reading his poetry today and that it was still bringing enjoyment to so many people.
