@The Last And First Time I can sense that if the lot next door to my home catches fire, then my house is messed up, meaning, burned down by the spread of flames, then it's bad and so here's something that happenes yesterday to 2 of my friends, Emily MoonSun and Amelia TaterSun came back from the 711 and they said that the people threatened to burn the house down and murder them as well as rape them, who the flying turkey would threaten a 21 year old French woman who is a pianist and a 67 year old German woman who is a retired nurse just because they went somewhere, Emily and Amelia ran into the house with locking the gate behind them and I almost had a heart attack when I heard them running and then they ran into the room and dropped the stuff down onto the bed and told me about what happen but also in fact, I don't have any pepper spray but I can do Jumpscares and my dragons can use their battlemoves on the people who go after me and my friends. I can understand that the riots are going against Politics but why the flying turkey are they burning down clothing stores and other stores that sell clothes down if they're against Politics???....... that's the most questionable part, burning down clothing stores while going against Politics...

The best way to get people to put effort into changing themselves is to show them what will happen if they don’t. It’s like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. He was a nasty old man until he was basically told he would die alone. Just tell someone “If you keep acting like this, you’re going to die alone with nobody to grieve,” or “You’re never going to have a relationship with your ________.” These 2 phrases impact people on another level because these are fears that EVERYONE has. They are existential dreads that we have. They show us the true consequences of our actions. If we go around being an asshole to everyone we meet, we won’t have a relationship with our children, their children, or anyone until we eventually die with nobody to grieve because we treated them poorly. Thinking about these things really makes you question of what you’re doing really matters in the grand scheme of things. Sorry about this weird, philosophical comment. I hope this doesn’t give you an existential crisis.

      This!
I know I'm super late but DAMN.
My dad is in the category or entitled and while he's been trying to change his ways (now that all his kids are 18+... better late than never I guess?) he can still be entitled sometimes. Growing up however... anytime he felt guilty over something that he, you know, should actually feel guilty for, he would buy things for us, normally things we didnt even care about.
Funny extra thing. On one of my birthdays, I had been saving up money for a Nintendo DSI (back when they were new) and so we're eating out and he goes outside to grab a bag for me. He comes in with it and for me to open, where I pull out a Nintendo DSI. I'm threw the roof! Got a gift and still got some cash on me right? Wrong.
He informs me that while he got this for me, he's expecting me to pay him back once I've made enough.
I had waited months through saving up and now I almost had enough and then he turned it around to be a gift when he was fully expecting me to pay him back? I felt sick. I put it back in the bag and told him to return it. I told him I will just wait to buy one myself.
He and my stepmom (parents were separated at this point - gee I wonder why) both got angry with me and told me to accept my gift. So I said back "how is it even a gift if I'm paying for it?". Like yes there's a little bit of time saved from when I would get it until then, but that also robs me of getting to feel mature and buying something expensive! I'm 24 right now and the DSI was released in 2004. So that's 17 years of difference but I'm pretty sure the DSI was probably already released for at least a year. So I was roughly 7-9 years old and the money I would have been getting was through allowance and manual labor at the house in whatever constructive was I was allowed to help outside. All my siblings were also getting allowance and chose to spend it where as I was saving it specifically for this. So where I was saving it for this "gift" my siblings got to spend their allowance as soon as they got it.
So effectively in no way was there a benefit when I could have just had it bought for me earlier and subtracted it from future allowances, we had done deals like that for cheaper things before but prior to this he wouldn't do it for that item.

Honestly I can relate to the story with the Ellie story. I had to separate myself from my mother at age 19 for 3 years because she refused to accept my boyfriend (now husband). In that time she sought help, did some soul searching and came back to me begging for forgiveness. Our relationship will never be the mother/daughter relationship but she is doing well and is making a huge effort! She also listens to me and my husband about our son and respects us. She is a better grandmother than a mother. I have accepted this and I'm glad things turned out in a positive way.

But she is willing to beat up anyone who messes with her or her friends which of her friends does include me... she has been suffering from Epilepsy since she was 4 years old but she has been suffering from Cold Hard Heart Syndrome since she was 9 years old because of the FosterCare Abuse at the age of 7 years old and the Traditional Schools Bullying at the age of 8 years old or 9 years old. She has been taught how tonfight by me although I am an 83 year old English-French Canadian dude who is a retired Marine Captain and so on, she's a multi-language speaking German-Italian American girl and she can trick pedophiles and unknown adults into thinking that she is in adult because of her genes that make her look like an adult, so it's easy for her to NOT become a victim of Pedophilia, with her fighting skills, she can easily NOT get kidnapped because it's extremely hard to kidnap someone who's a fighter! Well, she does good things but she also does bad things but those bad things are for the good things, you know, if you fight someone who is about to hurt you, you'll not become a victim of that crime that the stranger was about to do.... she considers herself as a big thick smart dangerous 14 year old American girl though and many people are afraid of her because of her dangerously heroics. Heck! She even came out of a burning building, carrying a 25 year old American dude who is a voice actor and yes, that guy was actually Kellen Goff, basically, his house somehow catch fire and he fell unconscious and she had to rescue him and she flew him to her house and things were crazy, people say that she's an angel-god hybrid who is sercretly a firefighter and a soldier but she's a uth grade student at a cyber school so that's what other people belive her as a hybrid who is both a firefighter and a soldier.. things may be differently crazy but things can be insane as the country-wide riot!....

You hear this story that takes place in a cemetery, and your assumption isn't that they're celebrating/mourning a dead kid?
The mother of my child's best friend just lost her baby. 2.5 months old. They had the funeral on Friday. It would disgust me to learn that people assumed the worst about that gathering instead of assuming the most logical.

The last story reminds me of a time when my Mom and I went ago shopping a few years ago. I live in the UK, so the same Under 25 rule applies. My Mom has mobility issues, so I usually do all the legwork when we shop, which includes unloading the trolley and bagging up. During this instance my Mom needed the toilet, so she left me to it as the cashier was ringing up the items. We had picked up some alcohol and even though I was in my mid twenties I was asked for ID. I had accidentally left it in the car, so I ran to get it and when I got back Mom was arguing with the cashier that it was her shopping and I shouldn't have been ID'd for it, but of course she had left me alone with the shopping so the cashier had grounds to do so. Mom was still miffed about it after, but there was no harm done. Not that interesting, I know, but it reminded me of it.

The first story reminds me of my experience with my grandmother.
My dad was helping me move out of my grandmother place because (hoarding, had to share a bed with her, sharing bath water//I know gross// and not allowed to have the AC on. It's Florida and I was baking in my own home. Not allowed friends over, not allowed out. I was paying rent when I turned 18. So I moved out from my grandmother place and in a trailer my dad and stepmom lived on property.
She tried to get child services, I was 18-19 during this. Grandmother tried to claim my dad was my brother and he was "stealing me away". Would have gotten away with that if I didn't butt in and corrected the CS person. When that didn't work my grandmother went to the cops and got a restraining order on my dad (her son)
She even called her son a "son of a bitch" ...she called herself a bitch.
So when my dad had to leave the property I left with him. She wasn't happy.
She died from untreated skin cancer. She knew she had cancer and choose to die. She always talked about dying soon so I'm guessing she knew for a while. So she planned to die in the same bed I slept in. No I couldn't sleep in the other beds because of her hoarding.

They're either aren't enough liter boxes in the house, or their is something going on causing them to be territorially insecure, or there's some medical problem that OP's mom isn't taking care of. Considering there's poop as well, and cats don't mark with poop, It's probably either lack of liter boxes or medical issues.

One morning I did my usual stop at this 7/11 to get my coffee (5 cent refills for a 7/11 ceramic cup then) and this kid was in a screaming match with the cashier over cigarettes. The kid looked about 15 and swore up and down he was 18... I would've carded him too. This was still going when I got to the register with my coffee. I asked if I could check out and the kid rounded on me saw the cup and knocked up into my face cussing me out... I guess because I was closer he wanted to express his anger physically. The poor cashier turned pale when the very hot very fresh, and deliciously fixed up the way I love it, coffee splashed directly into my face and the cup smashed on the floor. To make matters MUCH worse for the kid two things he registered in his very young brain. One... The cashiers' reaction of "Oh my god! Sir, please... I am SO sorry! Please don't let this affect my grade!" (I was the cashiers' teacher) and Two... The kid saw two cops walk in the second he smacked the cup out of my hand. I wasn't hurt, just startled but was upset about my cup as 7/11 didn't have those cups anymore.
The kid just collapsed and started crying... I think reality just knocked him to the floor. Long story short. I assured the cashier that it had nothing to do with him. I did MUCH worse to the kid than press charges... I had the police call both of his parents to come to the store where I had a long conversation with them... I actually felt a little sorry for the kid when they told him to get in their car and took him home. All this was somewhere around a month after the ID for tobacco was passed.

Holy shite! I think that first story is the only one where an entitled parent showed some maturity and changed her ways.

I think that the birthday in the cemetery might have been a family singing and celebrating the birthday of someone young whom they have lost. This is actually very common for families that have lost a baby of toddler.
