This is such a cool, "poppy" tune. Great car drivin' song BTW. It is what so many soft and harder rock songs in the 70s do, they make you smile, lift you up, and make you happy to be alive. The Hollies rule!❤❤❤❤❤❤

What a cool song. I do a bit of mixing and there is alot of effects that you can use. But these guys have taken the reverb and manipulated it on the drums, guitar and vocals to give it something special. Talk about working with minimum effects and make it count. Wow, I`m blown away. Back to basics for me. Great reaction mate and greetings from Sydney.

Did you know some of the early Hollies hits were written by a guy called Graham Gouldman, who later joined the band 10cc. Now you really should check them out. They had hit after hit in the 70's. You probably know I'm not in love already, but I like The dean and I, Good Morning Judge or Rubber Bullets

According to Wayne Fontana, Graham wrote a great song for the Hollies called Bus Stop. Then he wrote another great song for The Yardbirds called For Your Love.
Graham also wrote a great song for Herman's Hermits called No Milk Today. Then he wrote this piece of crap for me, Pamela Pamela.

The Long Cool Woman guitar riff entre leaves the briefer and simpler chords in Steamy Windows in the shade. The Hollies even have to teach those wanting to cover how to do it. Slight comparison, with LCW being the obvious inspiration value level.

You may be too young to remember. “Steamy Windows” was written by Tony Joe White, a Louisiana songwriter. The song was originally recorded by White in 1988, (who also wrote Rainy Night in Georgia. White did not think much of the song, until Brooks Benton recorded it for a monster hit.) Tall, Cool woman was released as a single in 1972. A roadie always played a certain riff for his live stage sound checks. That single guitar riff is the opening you hear. Someone in the group liked the riff and they wrote a whole song around it. This song has more good hooks in it than nearly any other song out there. Economy of lyrics leads to fewer details, adding mystery to a listener's interpretation. Here is my interpretation, but other readers could interpret things quite differently from me, or from each other. That shows the true genius in the lyrics. An FBI man, or feeb, could not go into an underworld club like that even in plainclothes. I think the man in the song was a down on his luck guy who the FBI leaned on (blackmailed under likely false conditioned, or conned) to turn informant. Anyone going into a club like that who does not look right might never get out alive. The plant had to look right. Do you believe "I was just about to call the DA man?" I don't. Someone else did, and we have no clue who. Maybe he already knew the lady, too. Maybe the feebs knew of their attraction and threatened to lock her up, too. She was one hot lady, for sure.
For an even hotter song, listen to the Hollies Stop!Stop!Stop!
