THANK YOU,

Paul is Fu%&* John Wick, he can kill people with -pencil- 3 Strings Guitar. YOU ARE BREATHTAKING PAUL. GOD BLESS HIM !
drummer is on fire.
Does your drummer's coffee contains cocaine in it !!
just kidding.
please invite yngwie j malmsteen
Mr. Miller, can you please introduce your bass player??? He’s outstanding!!!!
you should put these covers in spotify? :)
You all did an "okay" job, but this one goes the the "human capo"! He DESTROYED this session! Amazing!
That guy is a nut! Literally! :-)
@@andrewryder1319 that pun was so bad i had to give it a thumbs up.
@@eddyguizonde401 :-)
@google owns you :-)
google owns you if at first you don’t get a pun, don’t fret. It will come in time.
"How good are you?"
"Paul Gilbert plays rhythm for me"
That made me laugh harder than it should have
lmao!
Good one!!
I'm 50 year old drummer, this makes inspired to keep playing for another 50 years of my life.
2:27 first time in my 50 years on this planet where I can say I’ve now witnessed a “Human Capo” 👍🏻👍🏻
Check out Paul's instrumental Get Out of My Yard.
There’s a Mr Big concert on CZcams ( from Budokan ? ) where Paul and Billy Sheehan play doublenecked guitar and bass with Eric Martin and Pat Torpey play the parts of human capos.
Also Steve Vai does it in a G3 concert 😅❤ the song is called "I know you're here" or something like that
I've played this song for years because it's the only Rush song I can sing.:)
I don't know, I bet you can do La Villa Strangiato with a little practice.😉
@@jonlate4581 live version has geddy vocals :)
@@jonlate4581 or Leave That Thing Alone.
Me too!!! Love the lyrics!
Have you seen the Rush in Rio dvd? The crowd does a pretty good job on the vocals.
Every human in this studio killed it, but Felix Lehrmann (the drummer) killed it, buried it, exhumed it and hanged it again like it was Oliver Cromwell.
Whoah. It's weird and awesome to run into one of your favorite CZcams chefs in a Rush cover vid.
Oh hey Adam, didn't expect you to be here
Next level commentary skills. You found a way to successfully include a reference to the Lord Protector in Rush tribute performance. Felix is the boss.
Yeah, because the best way to “kill it” is to add all kinds of unnecessary fills to arguably the best drummer ever’s magnum opus.
@@Vnachi8 and almost all of them predictable, square and repetitive.
Mr. Miller, I'm a retired session player with Atlantic Records, you SIR are a rare gift in music and I've played with Rush in the late 70's... AWESOME
2:53 Martin’s solo lives rent free in my head, and it’s incredible that he can so confidently in front of Paul Gilbert!
Literally the perfect solo.
This song can also be played by three Canadians
so many people in the room I thought it was going to be a rap video
kush king if I want to hear YYZ I have the recording.
@@luminositymusicbrianpricka6357 Moving pictures is a must have record in everyone's album collection
True, not the original, and no one can ever reproduce the original, but this is *VERY* worthy cover, I grant them permission.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
God, i can't believe it the way you play this Rush title. Such a difficult ,hard and complete band to cover. You're absolutaly smashing guys. Guitars, and the mad killer drummer! Much respect! We love it! I love it!
You guys HAVE to do a Rush Medley.
I would be able to die happy.
+1
+10. Would love to see Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio. Felix for me is just a legend on the drums, sucks that he is left handed, which messes with my brain
Yes! And the intro should be 'Xanadu'
Sure.🔥
the drummer is just incredible. Wow......not the "average" cover to handle at all let alone completely just OWN it! Well done brothers.
2:53 what a well arranged solo , Martin and Kiko Loureiro are my two favorite modern guitar players.
Kiko is the man! I love doing Angra covers his solo stuff is solid. When I found out he was gonna be in megadeth i was mind blown.
Damn, the synth line played on guitar with a slide sounds amazing!👍
Wow… first cover I’ve heard of YYZ that is fresh and full of joy!
Mr. Lehrmann just KILLED it on the drums! Excellent performance.
He almost got it
The drummer did the utmost just job to the song. Bravo, bravo..
Yousef DQR - yeah. I’m not a drummer but that guy seemed to be killing it..Never seen anybody but Neil play this song.
He's amazing!
As a drummer I can say he damn well nailed it! But also an unusually loud props to the bassplayer; a bit on the soft side in the mix but absolutely killing Lee's fills
@@darkwaver517353 Yes indeed. It has an uncanny rich depth to it's sound. For fuck sake everything sounds superb in the mix!!!
agree. what a momentum he has!
Paul Gilbert's solo was insane. Incredible musicians all around.
How did I miss this???? WOW! Just WOW! This is one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen and I'm completely blown away. Absolutely stellar!
Whenever I hear a different version of YYZ, I’m always struck by how great of a song it is. I’ve heard the Rush version so many times now that I just take it for granted. So good!
When I listen to Rush I can hear were bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Meshugga and hundreds of others bands got their inspiration from. Rush truly were one for the ages!!
Megadeth is straight thrash I mean dream theater yes & that's all you have
@@sheldonmontgomery9767 Megadeth is very technical though. You don't have to be prog to be inspired by Rush.
@@sheldonmontgomery9767 Dave Mustaine has so many lifeson-isms in his playing such as chord choice and even some of his structural choices. And btw. RIP is prog
@@sheldonmontgomery9767 megadeth is probably the least thrash band from the big 4. besides just listen to the drumming, sounds straight from peace sells or rust in piece.
It's funny, because when I listen to Rush, I can hear Zep, Yes, Deep Purple, and others. They were probably tighter than any of those, but still, I can hear where they came from.
Bass is criminally quiet for a rush cover
Weak is the word.
And the drummer is “Being more Neil than Neil was”. Settle down man and just play the part.
waay too much keyboard also... but beautiful all the same!
@@zot2676 Agreed. Sounds pretty cheesy.
they didn't do a 1 to 1 recreation of the original song and that makes me mad.
RUSH has been my favorite band for many years. This cover is fantastic, the guitar solo is beautiful and Felix is an amazing drummer.
Man, that drummer was tremendous.
Yes but he disrespects the professor by doing his own thing.
I think Mr. Peart would be proud of what he saw
@@neilaspinall9399 yeah that's what I'm feeling too,he was throwing in superfluous fills and triplets,it's like saying Neil wasn't good enough
I had mixed feelings. I love this drummer; not as much as I love NP, of course. Hearing him add his own flavors was like someone having you try a new ingredient in a recipe: it might be bacon bits in brownies, but each to his own tastes.
@@bloodsling NO drummer could EVER say that!Niel reigned supreme, and we'll NEVER see another musician like him.I don't see Octobons,2 bass drums,or a xylophone on this guy's kit.
I made it to the 5 second mark on my phone before stopping playback and declaring to myself "To the studio monitors!!"
Rob Michael lol my thoughts too. I went to my hifi for this instead of playing on the phone.
@@fdude555 You should never play music through your phone speaker. That's illegal!
😂😂
Playing good music through phone speakers is sacrilege
Fuckin aye right!
That was one of the tastiest solos I’ve ever heard. Honored the spirit of Rush quite well
Smiles on the faces of Martin and Felix at the end was priceless, having accomplished something in a space that few musicians seek to occupy.
Paul: i forgot my capo.
Speak no more.
@Лоло Козлов you can say you played with Gilbert
Paul Gilbert is just so humble that he enjoys wherever he is and whatever he plays. Just an amazing guy! Great job Martin!
@Jefferson darcy i believe so. He is one of most humble guitarist alive.
Paul Gilbert is Really Amazing! Thank You For Purposley Imaging Such Awesome Experiences! 100 Percent Devotion Created Talent! Truly a Gift To All Listeners Senses! 🎸🎼🌎🌍🌏🌈
These musicians are off the chart I am literally blown Away and I'm burning my guitar 😪
Best version of this song so far. The drummer is amazing, Paul and Martin does a great job on guitars. Great sound too. Congratulations !
Martin millers licks are so melodically awesome...
4 years late to the game, but have to say this was one of the besy YYZ covers ever.
You know, I come here time to time. Every month or two. On many Martin's videos. It's a treasure of modern guitar world.
I've seen rush live and this is without a doubt incredible and pays absolute respect to music in general. Innovative and incredible. I'm a huge fan of your band.
I really enjoy them playing!! The drummer is extraordinary!!
Everyone is so talented, but that drummer, OMG. In every video he just kills it!
Damn! That's how it's done. Martin's fills were AMAZING! Paul's Phrygian Dominant ad lib with the human capo was next level.
This was really not at all like the original, and that's what I really liked about it. I love RUSH and the original YYZ, but I can hear that anytime. This was a fun, tight, inspired reimagining of the song, and Paul Gilbert was having a blast!
was there a bit of zappa in the mix.
I super agree! However the same sentiment was not felt by the pink Floyd fans haha. The Martin Miller band is my favourite band and they’re not even a band lol!
This is such a fresh and fun take on the original. The drummer and the bassist absolutely were the standouts, totally brilliant!
Guitarist aint too bad either
@@mrbass1310 - There was a guitarist in this? I didn't see a guitarist. Where's the guitarist in this video???

In the mid section you really feel how Rush has influenced Dream Theater. Awesome!
I am 100% sure Alex and Geddy smiled watching this. So did Neil, who was in the studio as a spirit. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
As a drummer, and a big Neil fan, i like how the drummer didn't play exactly how Neil did. Made it his own!
That was a turn off for me. Peart's version was perfection. Why mess with it?
@@TheSwamper because it's their version of the song? Why not mess with it,they are putting their own spin on it,it's never going to sound like the original so might aswell have some fun with it !!
@@TheSwamper why do a cover at all then?
@@TheSwamper would you rather hear, which often happens with covers, the drummer messing up "signature fills", nuances etc or would you rather hear something new and interesting? I'd be more upset with the aforementioned than someone bringing a different, fresh perspective.
@@ElrondHubbard_1 a lot of folks can't understand that covers aren't really supposed to be 100% exact. You should see how upset some get when the people who WROTE THEIR SONG deviate from the original.
I came for the title, but stayed for the sheer artistry and professionalism.
Well i stayed for the capo guy
Fantastic!!!! And RUSH did all this with only 3 musicians !!! Seeing a presentation of this magnitude you can understand the musical and technical quality of RUSH !! Congratulations!!!
WOW !!! A group of professional musicians on the top of their game , this blew me away guys ....
Love "cover tunes" that are Not note-for-note, where the players can add their personalities in with respect to the originals.
sonofmogh I like the way you move! I love a good cover especially if it is different. I also love your name baha.

The drummer man......awesome playing...bravo
Wow, that drummer is incredible!
i like the fact that they did their own take on this iconic instrumental and not copy it note for note....wait whoa, slide on YYZ waaaaaat. bravo!
Man, Paul playing the melody with a slide is so amazing.
the drummer was the happiest of the lot . can see it . he was like "finally! the song that I've always wanted to play so much on this show"
I'm kinda in love with Paul Gilbert, he's adorable and such a great guitarist
barely got those bass harmonics in there....nice :) The drummer was so ecstatic to get all the way through...quite an accomplishment.
One minute and Felix is KILLING IT on drums already... those rolls!!!
While this is an amazing technical feat for anyone still mind blowing to see it take a room full of people to make the same sound as 3 guys lol rush are true rock gods much respect to all involved here!!
Absolute classic and done with pride. Keep doing what you're doing. And I second the van halen medley idea!
OMG that was freakin’ phenomenal by everyone!!
A great watch. Thank you. You can't not enjoy watching Paul Gilbert enjoy playing with other musicians. 👍

It’s only me who like the solo of Martin Miller ??? Soul speaks in his solo.
He is an incredible guitarist.
nah it ain't only you. that was melodic and shred all bundled up in a velvet tone. top notch
Not at all. His solo was something else. Skillful and melodic, tough combo to execute well and even harder on such a wonderful classic song with a great original solo. I really thought his interpretation was beautiful.
Daniel Nowlan you are right but try to watch his skills in all the way . I am talking precisely after the solo of Paul Gilbert
It was terrific.
2:25 🤯 Only Paul can come up with something that cool!

Holy smokes! I just found this video!! It’s great when a band respectfully covers a song. These dudes put a little extra sauce on this one
This is an amazing cover version of YYZ.
Doing a Rush cover is a no win situation because the songs are so epic, well known and with the Rush loyalists fans that expect every not to be the same always, adding a personnal touch to it might even be consider as blashemy. I command you by having the guts of taking the song to different places. Very well done, indeed!

@@nightflight81 ...I'm a guitar player too. Isn't it amazing how a good drummer or singer or bass player can inspire people like us who play guitar.
Drummer is a freaking metronome. Perfect timing

By the 2 minute mark, I'd picked up my guitar, cranked my rig & the video to 10, & started jamming along; it's that infectious.
Same here. Haven’t watched it yet but Yes I already know this will be Epic. Great tune gents.
Paul Gilbert, the John Wick of guitar!
Thank you for this. I love to see Rush's music begin to live beyond the band. And, a most excellent rendition. R.I.P. Mr. Peart.
That’s the most unassuming drummer I’ve ever seen, but he’s damn good on the drums.
2:54 god, that whole section is sooooooooo good
2:53 Turns into a Dream Theater song
Which is why I don’t like this version at all. It’s clearly played well and at a very high technical level. But it’s all wrong.
@@dmann4912 We hear remakes like this and some of us tend to forget who gave birth to the original. This remake wouldn't exist without the Holy Trinity. In my worthless opinion, doing remakes is fine but dont revision it. Dont walk all over the previous artists efforts and creation until you have transformed it into your own song. Write your OWN song. The extended guitar solo - forementioned at 2:53 - was stupendous- but it wasn't YYZ at that point. There's no need to "show up" the original writers and performers by trying to prove you're a better drummer/guitarist/bassist in an effort to play the song better, faster and higher.
@@TheCaskOf43 Couldn't agree more. No question these musicians are amazing in their own right. Its like hearing a bunch of guys trying to outdo each other and the originals. The problem is you can't outdo the original because it was the best to begin with.
TheCaskOf43 - Ikr, yaaaaawwwwwn
@@TheCaskOf43 are you an actual musician or just a music enthusiast? Dude wanted to do his own style of solo on the song so... he just did it. I think you might be in your own head saying that he's "walking all over" the original. He's a musician so he's just having fun with that chord progression. He wasn't thinking "yeah this solo is going to be way better than the original!" If he has his own style, just let it be and let him enjoy performing music... don't make him conform to the original writers. If we wanted to hear the original, just listen to the original?
What a great interpretation of a great song. These guys are so talented. AND it highlights just how talented Rush is at the same time. For those who can't help comparing, it's really apples and oranges. Additional harmonies and counter melodies here. Not to mention 5 (6 if you count the human capo) vs 3. Really fun to watch ad listen.
The guitar harmonies, the inventive percussion, the human capo, the keyboards, all together put a fun spin on this masterpiece. Nothing will be able to match the original but I'm sure the boys would be impressed with this cover. Well done! RIP Neil.
