We did dorm raids in the first year at uni, probably way too old for that, lol. So funny though, it went on for a whole week and got increasingly violent. Finished with a huge shaving foam fight in the courtyard, everyone armed with a can and spraying like mad.

I am a 16 year ols student and I received a scholarships to study as an international student in a boarding school in the UK. And I don’t know if to accept it. Some of my doubts are the distance regarding the present situation of the pandemic, missing my family and making the right choice or not. I really hope you could give me some advice regarding what my best option would be. U see...I live in a big city and I have a lot of freedom and I am sort of afraid to not lose this freedom by attending boarding school...i really don’t know. Because what I choose could bring me in completely different places in my future. Hope you have any advice:)
Hey, first of all congratulations for reeiving the scholarship! I am right now a boarder at a UK boarding school. I started in January and can totally understand your worries. I can't tell you if the decision is right or not but I think that even though you have less freedom its a great opportunity in every way. The thing about missing your family is understandable, but honestly its not that bad as you might be imagining right now, because first of all they will definitely find ways to kepp you busy at any time :) Maybe its just me, but I personally always thought that this is a good first step into your future. Whatever you decide to do next, being at boarding school gives you great opportunities and prepares you quite good for all kinds of career paths. Hope I could help at least a bit. P.S. Because you see, I won’t afford studying University in the UK so I have to choose a Uni in Europe. But I’m affraid that maybe because of the Brexit, Europe won‘t accept A-Levels. And even if they will I dont know what to choose. Cause I want to study either film directing or buisness and economics or politics. So I’m a mess and so confused. And sad cause I think that none of the choices I have are good idk. I might sound ungrateful but Im just scared. I tried to ask the Scholarship Program if I could opt for a Reduced Fee Scholarship in order to choose one school that has IB. But unfortunately it won’t work. Yeah so I really don’t know what to do. Because both the choices would give me great opportunities but completely different ones probably. Do you think that if I will choose to study: Drama, Maths and Politics/Economics/Psychology (or any combination between those four) I could find Unis in Europe to study to but also be able to take good grades? Cause this is also very important. Idk. Let me know what you think. Thank you a lot
In my boarding school, at least, gating is basically like being grounded, but boarding school version. You have to stay in your uniform until its your time to get ready for bed, you're not allowed to go to town after school, can't leave house after second prep, and sometimes permission to go further away than town at weekends is denied too, that kind of depends on the level of gating though. This is just my boarding school though, it may differ at others though.
at my school we have walks too, rather than dates, and we don't have bags either (apart from first form)!

at my school you apply and then ur house mistress chooses and you just have some other responsibilities like helping organise stuff for ur house
